Nate Kaeding scored 12 points on Monday Night Football in the Chargers lambasting of the Jets, 48-29. Kaeding hit all six of his PATs and was 2-for-2 on his field goals including one from 49 yards out.

Our View:Nights like this one are why many predicted a top-5 finish in scoring this season from the Chargers kicker. So far is he 12-for-12 on point after attempts and a perfect 6-for-6 on field goals.

Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding says that he feels as strong and as confident as he ever has, and Saturday’s preseason opener provided the fifth-year kicker with an opportunity to show just how good he’s feeling, according to the team's official website. Kaeding suffered a fractured fibula in his plant leg late last season, but he appears to be in full health after booting a 53-yard field goal in the second half of the Bolts’ win over the Dallas Cowboys Saturday to continue what has been an impressive training camp from the former Iowa Hawkeye.

Our View:Kaeding was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals in the AFC Championship Game, just four weeks after suffering the injury. He took some time off to let his leg heal and then immediately went back to work. Kaeding spent an extensive amount of time this offseason targeting areas where he could improve his physical strength. He joined other NFL kickers, NBA players and an assortment of athletes at St. Vincent’s in Indianapolis where he trained for several weeks. In addition to improving his strength, Kaeding tweaked a couple of his techniques in hopes of improving his game. Thus far in training camp, it looks like the work has paid off.

Remember that lower-leg injury that bothered Nate Kaeding late in the regular season and in the postseason? It turns out that he kicked through a fractured fibula in his plant leg during the final wo regular-season contests and the Chargers' three playoff games, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. The injury is expected to heal on it's own without the need for surgery. It's difficult for kickers to earn much respect from their teammates, but it appears that Kaeding proved his toughness this time.

Nate Kaeding's sore leg is getting better and he might be able to handle kickoff duties at New England Sunday. Either way, it looks like Kaeding will still be the guy for placement kicks.

Nate Kaeding continues to nurse a sore left leg. The injury didn't stop him from handling field goals and extra points in Week 17, and he'll perform the same duties this weekend. However, the Chargers will continue to use Dave Rayner on kickoffs, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
