Cowboys offensive coordinater Jason Garrett stated earlier this month that he still has confidence in Roy Williams. However, the latest news is that the wideout will have to compete for a starting job in 2010, according to ESPN.com. "We are going to play the best player, no matter what," Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said.

Our View:With Miles Austin assured a starting spot, Williams' main competition is Patrick Crayton and Kevin Ogletree. Williams is guaranteed $12.9 million in bonuses and base salary this year, so the Cowboys obviously want to utilize him if they can, but it sounds like he won't be handed any more free passes.

Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett says he still has confidence in struggling receiver Roy Williams, according to ESPN.

Our View:At least somebody does. While Williams managed to find the end-zone seven times in 2009, of the 15 games he played in, he caught more than three balls just five times. Heading into 2010, he's not a viable fantasy option, especially with the emergence of Miles Austin in Dallas.

The Dallas Morning News reports that Roy Williams acknowledged that he is not making the plays that he should and that it's understandable if Tony Romo has lost confidence in him. "If I continue to do the things I've been doing, I'm going to mess around and be on the sidelines playing special teams," said Williams.

Our View:Williams had three targets last Sunday and dropped two of them. One resulted in an interception. For the season, he has just 38 catches, although seven of them have gone for touchdowns.

Roy Williams caught just one pass against the Redskins on Sunday, but it went for a four-yard touchdown.

Our View:Williams has gained a grand total of 18 yards in his last two games combined. He has seven scores on the year, but his spotty yardage production makes him a risky start. Romo clearly favors Miles Austin, which has spelled bad news for Williams all year.

Roy Williams led the Cowboys with 74 receiving yards on four catches in Week 14.

Our View:After a muddled first half of the season, Williams has come on strong as of late. In six of his last seven games he has either totaled 74 or more yards or caught a touchdown pass. He should be a safe WR2 spot for the rest of the season.
