It was a mixed bag for Romo: he completed 14-of-25 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns, and he showed plenty of mobility (including a conversion rush), but he also was intercepted three times. When asked about Romo's play after the game, head coach Bill Parcells said "some good, but some careless." Parcells refused to name a starter for next week's game at Carolina. |

August 31, 2006 The Cowboys extended Tony Romo's contract through next year, according to the AP. "He wants to go ahead and make that commitment and we want to make that commitment," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "He knows the kind of competition he's got there with Drew Bledsoe, but I think it says a lot for Tony Romo relative to how we feel about him." He got a $2 million bonus and the deal will pay him $3.9 million through next season. For now, he's still just a backup, though. |
