David Tyree has been placed on season-ending IR, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View:The medical staff feels he is still not fit to return, as he needs more time to recover from off-season knee surgery.

The AP reports that The Giants have until Wednesday to make a decision on the future of receiver David Tyree. The Super Bowl hero was placed on the physically unable to perform list before the start of training camp because he was still recovering from offseason knee surgery. “Well, we will see,” coach Tom Coughlin said Monday. “Obviously, you are talking about a guy that has played extremely well for our team. But it is again going to come down to the decision this week on where we are physically.”

Our View:Tyree does not figure to make any kind of impact in fantasy leagues even if he is activated.

David Tyree has been activated from the PUP list following his recovery from knee surgery, according to the AP.

Our View:He will practice this week, and the Giants have three weeks to decide whether to place him on the active roster, put him on IR or cut him. The Super Bowl hero will hold little fantasy value while fighting for playing time in a deep and talented Giants' receiving corps.
October 14, 2008
David Tyree will practice with the team for the first time tomorrow since being placed on the PUP list, according to the Giants' official site. He is coming back from knee surgery.

Our View:The Giants will have three weeks to add the Super Bowl hero to the roster, place him on injured reserve or release him.

David Tyree has been placed on the PUP list as he is still recovering from off-season knee surgery, according to Slam Sports.

Our View:The Super Bowl hero won't be able to return before Week 7, and will be buried on the bottom of the depth chart at receiver, meaning he isn't worth waiting for.
August 15, 2008
Super Bowl hero David Tyree admitted Friday that he could begin the year on the PUP list, according to the AP. Tyree is recovering from offseason knee surgery. "I am much closer and much stronger," said Tyree. "I can do breaks and in cuts. The consistency and endurance are still not where they have to be."

Our View:It's great that Tyree came up big in the Super Bowl, but his value comes on special teams.
August 1, 2008
Super Bowl hero David Tyree, who had knee surgery in the offseason, said his goal is to be ready to play in the team's season opening contest against the Redskins on September 4, according to the New York Daily News. "I can't see myself missing that Thursday night game," he said.

Our View:Tyree probably won't play in any preseason games, which makes it difficult to believe he'll be back in Week 1. Either way, his fantasy value is limited at best. Despite his Super Bowl performance, Tyree had just four catches in the regular season.
July 24, 2008
Updating a previous report, David Tyree has been placed on the PUP list, according to TSN.

Our View:He has been dealing with lingering problems during his recovery from surgery on his right knee. He is in jeopardy of not having a roster spot for the 2008 campaign, as the Giants have a deep receiving corps.
July 24, 2008
The NY Daily News reports that Tom Coughlin said Wednesday he had no idea when David Tyree would be able to practice again, and that any decision would be made after Tyree reports to camp and is examined by team doctors today.

Our View:Tyree had surgery on his right knee in April. The Giants added Mario Manningham to an already crowded wide receiver corps, so it is very possible that the Super Bowl hero does not have a roster spot come Week 1. He is currently on the PUP list.
June 15, 2008
David Tyree, the hero of last year's Super Bowl, is going to be hard pressed to make a roster spot with the team this year. It was Tyree's amazing 32-yard circus catch on New York's game-winning drive that earned him a spot in Giants' history. However, off-season knee surgery has resulted in him not being able to take part in the club's summer mini-camp.

Our View:With Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer locks to begin the season as the starters, and talented Steve Smith, Sinorice Moss and Mario Manningham in a fight for snaps, the business reality of the NFL takes president, even for heroes. In the NFL where "what have you done for me lately" is literal, it appears that the final game of last season is too far in the past.
June 5, 2008
David Tyree could begin the season on the PUP list, according to the NY Daily News. He is slowly rehabbing his injured right knee. If placed on the PUP list, he wouldn't be able to play until Week 7.

Our View:He went down in Giants' history last season when he made a miraculous drive-saving catch against his helmet in the closing minutes of the Super Bowl against New England, but he is not guaranteed a spot on the Giants' 2008 roster. Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer are locks to start, and Steve Smith potentially looks to be third receiver, so that leaves Tyree to fight with rookie Mario Manningham and Sinorice Moss for the remaining spots. The team isn't likely to carry six receivers, so Tyree could be the odd-man-out. In his favor, he excels on special teams, and that could keep him in New York.
June 4, 2008
David Tyree is expected to be limited at the start of training camp, according to the NY Daily News. Tyree said his knee feels good and his rehab is right on schedule. He is no longer on crutches, so that is encouraging.

Our View:Tyree needs to be healthy during camp, as the team will have a tight competition for the roster spots at receiver beyond starters Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer.
April 23, 2008
David Tyree will be out of commission for the next couple of months after undergoing surgery on his right knee last week, according to the New Jersey Star-Ledger. Tyree didn’t reveal the details of the injury and said he didn't suffer it during the off-season workouts; however, he did say it "locked up on him" at some point in the last couple of weeks and not during last season.

Our View:Tyree hopes to be 100 percent for training camp, but his fantasy value is limited, due to the fact he sits on the fifth rung of the New York Giants wide receiver depth chart.
