David Tyree has been placed on the PUP list as he is still recovering from off-season knee surgery, according to Slam Sports.

Our View:The Super Bowl hero won't be able to return before Week 7, and will be buried on the bottom of the depth chart at receiver, meaning he isn't worth waiting for.

Super Bowl hero David Tyree admitted Friday that he could begin the year on the PUP list, according to the AP. Tyree is recovering from offseason knee surgery. "I am much closer and much stronger," said Tyree. "I can do breaks and in cuts. The consistency and endurance are still not where they have to be."

Our View:It's great that Tyree came up big in the Super Bowl, but his value comes on special teams.

Super Bowl hero David Tyree, who had knee surgery in the offseason, said his goal is to be ready to play in the team's season opening contest against the Redskins on September 4, according to the New York Daily News. "I can't see myself missing that Thursday night game," he said.

Our View:Tyree probably won't play in any preseason games, which makes it difficult to believe he'll be back in Week 1. Either way, his fantasy value is limited at best. Despite his Super Bowl performance, Tyree had just four catches in the regular season.

Updating a previous report, David Tyree has been placed on the PUP list, according to TSN.

Our View:He has been dealing with lingering problems during his recovery from surgery on his right knee. He is in jeopardy of not having a roster spot for the 2008 campaign, as the Giants have a deep receiving corps.

The NY Daily News reports that Tom Coughlin said Wednesday he had no idea when David Tyree would be able to practice again, and that any decision would be made after Tyree reports to camp and is examined by team doctors today.

Our View:Tyree had surgery on his right knee in April. The Giants added Mario Manningham to an already crowded wide receiver corps, so it is very possible that the Super Bowl hero does not have a roster spot come Week 1. He is currently on the PUP list.
