Adam Schefter of NFL.com reports Larry Johnson could get 10-15 carries in Sunday's game.

Our View:The Saints don't exactly have a stout defense, but 10-15 carries would make it somewhat difficult for Johnson to have a big day for fantasy owners.
November 12, 2008
Coach Herman Edwards commented on Larry Johnson's workload for Week 11 against New Orleans, according to the Kansas City Star. Edwards said, "He’s in condition. He’s been working out. He’s been playing football. Now, he hasn’t played football in a month. He’ll have fresh legs. The thing he’s going to have to get used to is getting hit. That’s the first thing: The guy hasn’t been hit. Now, in practice he’ll be hit a little bit. That helps some. But you’re going to give him the ball. But he’ll blend into the offense. He’s going to have to blend into what we’re doing. Those carries will be those carries whenever he gets them."

Our View:He is in good shape, and well-rested while coming off a suspension, and is worth penciling into fantasy lineups against a weary Saints' defense that was steamrolled by the Falcons last weekend.
November 11, 2008
Updating an earlier report, coach Herman Edwards indicated that Larry Johnson will return to the Chiefs' lineup in Week 11 against the Saints, according to NFL.com.

Our View:Johnson is worth penciling back into lineups as he is averaging 4.1 yards per carry and the offense is performing better with Tyler Thigpen at quarterback. The Saints' run defense is ranked 19th in the NFL as well.
November 11, 2008
Larry Johnson has reported to Arrowhead Stadium Monday after serving his one-game suspension, according to the Kansas City Star. He has not played in a game since October 5 but coach Herm Edwards said, "He’s doing well. He’s excited about getting going. We had a good discussion about where he’s at, what he’s trying to do. Just come in here and get ready to play and find your niche in what we’re trying to do."

Our View:He is expected to return to the gridiron this weekend against the Saints, but coach Edwards is yet to make an official decision. The Chiefs' offense is performing better with Tyler Thigpen at quarterback and Johnson would be worth penciling back into fantasy lineups if given the green light, as he is averaging 4.5 yards per carry over five games.
November 10, 2008
The AP reports that Larry Johnson is being sued by the woman whose face he spat in last month.

Our View:The suit will not effect his playing status regardless of the result. The 28-year-old Johnson was back with the team Monday after being suspended by the NFL for Sunday's game for violating the league's personal conduct policy. He figures to be back in the starting lineup next weekend and should be a valuable player throughout fantasy playoffs.
November 6, 2008
Coach Herman Edwards indicated that Larry Johnson will return to the Chiefs' lineup next week against the Saints, according to the Kansas City Star. Edwards said, "He’s been out a month. It’s time for him to come back."

Our View:Edwards also mentioned that he will be worked back in slowly, so it remains to be seen how many carries he will receive in his first game back. He will serve a one-game NFL suspension in Week 10.
November 5, 2008
John Clayton of ESPN indicates that coach Herman Edwards may be considering letting Larry Johnson return to action after his Week 10 suspension.

Our View:It was previously believed Edwards would hold out Johnson longer, but that was before the team lost Kolby Smith for the remainder of the season due to injury. Fantasy owners of Johnson should be pleased by this news.
November 2, 2008
Chiefs inactives: RB Larry Johnson, P Dustin Colquitt, CB Patrick Surtain, LB Westin Dacus, T Andrew Carnahan, C Wade Smith, WR Jeff Webb, QB Ingle Martin (3rd QB)

Our View:Kolby Smith will start and share the workload with Jamaal Charles in place of Larry Johnson, who is inactive and will miss the next two games.
November 2, 2008
Running back Larry Johnson, who was suspended for Week 9 by his team and Week 10 by the NFL, faces additional disciplinary action from the league, if he's found guilty in either of two pending law-enforcement matters, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network.

Our View:Johnson, 28, was charged twice recently with simple assault in separate incidents in Kansas City. In a February incident, Johnson allegedly shoved a woman using his open hand to push the side of her head in a nightclub. Earlier this month, Johnson allegedly spat a drink on a woman at a Kansas City bar. Both cases have December court dates.
November 2, 2008
The one-game suspension of Chiefs running back Larry Johnson likely would have been longer had the Chiefs not deactivated him for three games, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:Johnson will be deactivated this week and will be suspended Week 10. Let's hope for the sake of fantasy owners - and more importantly for the safety of women in Kansas City - that Johnson has learned his lesson and stays out of future trouble.
October 31, 2008
ESPN's John Clayton reports that Kansas City running back Larry Johnson has been suspended without pay for Week 10. He has already been suspended by his team for Week 9.

Our View:LJ's suspension is a result of spitting a drink into a woman's face. He has four violations against women since arriving in the NFL. Once he returns, expect him to finish the season strong.
October 29, 2008
Chiefs running back Larry Johnson has returned to the team's practice on Wednesday, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:Johnson will not play this week against the Buccaneers, and in all likelihood a suspension is forthcoming due to his numerous incidents regarding violence towards women.
October 28, 2008
An announcement on the suspension of Larry Johnson could come as early as Wednesday, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View:ESPN's John Clayton has said that he expects Larry to get a three-game suspension. Stay tuned.
October 28, 2008
ESPN's John Clayton believes Larry Johnson will likely receive a three-game suspension for violation of the league's personal conduct policy. Since the suspension might not come until next week and the Chiefs already having stated that Johnson won't play in Week 9, that means the running back could miss at least four more games.

Our View:It's possible we might not see LJ again this season. Kolby Smith is expected to continue to start in his absence, and Jamaal Charles will have a big role, as well.
October 28, 2008
Larry Johnson will meet today with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell following the running back's fourth unfavorable incident in five years, according to the Arizona Republic. This time, he has been alleged to have assaulted a woman.

Our View:The Chiefs have already stated that Johnson could be deactivated for the remainder of the season, regardless of the outcome of today's meeeting with Goodell. Kolby Smith should be targeted if available on the waiver wire.
October 27, 2008
Larry Johnson has been charged with simple assault, according to the Associated Press. Johnson spit a drink in a woman's face on October 10th, and he faces a suspension from the NFL for violating league policy.

Our View:Johnson's fantasy value has plummeted this year for a player typically drafted in the first two rounds. We'll keep you updated on his status, but don't count on him at running back for the next few weeks.
October 26, 2008
Running back Larry Johnson will go to New York on Tuesday to meet with commissioner Roger Goodell, Pro Football Talk reports.

Our View:Such meetings often lead to suspensions, and Goodell doesn't like when players tarnish the league's image. LJ is in that boat, and fantasy owners should plan on seeing more of Kolby Smith and Jamaal Charles as the season progresses. This situation is a mess.
October 22, 2008
Larry Johnson has been suspended for one game by the Chiefs, according to NFL.com. Johnson sat out last week for violating team rules, and is currently under investigation by police for allegedly assaulting a woman. Coach Herman Edwards noted that the decision was his.

Our View:Kolby Smith and rookie Jamaal Charles will share the workload at running back in Johnson’s absence this weekend against the Jets.
October 21, 2008
Larry Johnson may not start Sunday's game, according to the KC Star. Coach Herman Edwards said Monday that he hadn’t decided whether Johnson would play against the Jets at the Meadowlands. Johnson was held out of Sunday's loss to Tennessee because he was late for meetings and other team obligations.

Our View:Edwards wouldn’t comment on his reasons for possibly benching Johnson against the Jets. But in the last week, two different allegations of assault against Johnson have circulated. Fantasy owners of Johnson should handcuff Kolby Smith for insurance, or have an alternate plan in case Johnson rides the bench.
October 20, 2008
Running back Larry Johnson's latest issue is a reported case of non-aggravated assault, ESPN.com notes. While at a night club on Friday, Johnson allegedly told a woman he was going to kill her boyfriend, and he proceeded to spit a drink in her face. Sources say Johnson is expected to receive a suspension from the NFL. "It's just a matter of for how long," a source says. It's not known if Johnson has been officially charged in the latest incident.

Our View:We don't know when the potentially suspension might come out, so fantasy owners can't yet prepare for LJ to be on the bench. The Chiefs seem to be sick of his behavior and may be tempted to keep using Kolby Smith and Jamaal Charles. We'll continue to follow the story.
October 19, 2008
The Chiefs have issued a statement on the situation involving Larry Johnson, according to the official Chiefs web site. "We are aware of the most recent incident involving Larry Johnson and we are very disappointed with his involvement. We will cooperate fully with the Kansas City authorities who are investigating the matter. We have also made the NFL Office in New York aware of the incident and officials there are conducting their own independent investigation. Based upon the NFL Player Conduct Policy, we will have no further comment."

Our View:The Chiefs tried to trade Johnson before the trade deadline but were unsuccessful. Now, with the recent history of Roger Goodell when it comes to suspensions for off the field incidents, the Chiefs might be without their running back for a while.
October 19, 2008
Chiefs inactives: QB Tyler Thigpen (3rd), QB Ingle Martin, RB Larry Johnson, LB Donnie Edwards, G Brian De La Puente, T Barry Richardson, WR Jeff Webb, TE John Paul Foschi.

Our View:Larry Johnson is inactive for violating team rules, leaving Kolby Smith to start and Jamaal Charles to assist on third downs in the passing game.
October 19, 2008
The Chiefs tried to trade Larry Johnson prior to the deadline but could not garner serious interest, according to the KC Star.

Our View:Coach Herman Edwards decided to sit Johnson for today's game because the running back has been late for meetings and other team functions. He was also charged with assault earlier in the week. If traded, the team would have seemingly been content with second-year pro Kolby Smith and rookie Jamaal Charles sharing the workload at running back.
October 16, 2008
The Kansas City Star reports that Larry Johnson will not play Sunday against the Titans in Kansas City. Johnson was charged with assault earlier in the week.

Our View:It is not clear if this is a result of a suspension or an injury. We will keep you updated as more news becomes available.
October 15, 2008
Larry Johnson, charged with an assault, may or may not face team or league penalties as a result of the situation, according to the Kansas City Star. “Larry’s practicing,” HC Herm Edwards said. “That’s all we need to know. I don’t need to make a decision on what happens with any player until Sunday.” Edwards also went on to say that Johnson will not be disciplined by the league.

Our View:Given that information we would have to believe that there is little chance of Johnson missing the Chiefs matchup with the Titans this weekend.
October 13, 2008
Chiefs running back Larry Johnson was charged with simple assault stemming from a February incident, according to the Kansas City Star. The paper reports that as Johnson was walking through a crowd of people in a nightclub, he assaulted a woman when he used "his open hand to push the left side of her head."

Our View:The woman did not complain for 11 hours after the reported incident, and there were no marks. The report states that the police waited so long to charge Johnson because they literally had better things to do, like work assault cases where damage occurred.
October 12, 2008
FOX's Jay Glazer reports the Chiefs are shopping Larry Johnson at the trade deadline.

Our View:With Tony Gonzalez also rumored in trade talks, the Chiefs apparently think that they play baseball. Johnson has a hefty contract, so a trade by Tuesday seems incredibly unlikely. This is still enough reason to stash backup RB Jamaal Charles, anyway.
October 5, 2008
Pro Football Weekly reports the elbow injury to rookie left tackle Branden Albert could keep him out for several weeks, hurting the Chiefs' running game.

Our View:LJ has found his rhythm over the past two weeks due in part to improved line play. Johnson owners should certainly hope that Albert makes it back as soon as possible.
October 3, 2008
Chiefs running back Larry Johnson was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Week for his 192 yard, two touchdown effort against the Broncos, according to KCChiefs.com.

Our View:Johnson was a beast against the soft Broncos run defense, and though he faces a tougher match-up Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers, he should still produce for fantasy owners.
September 28, 2008
Running back Larry Johnson lugged the football 28 times for 192 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 4 victory over Denver.

Our View:Johnson also compiled five receptions for no yards, but still made his PPR owners happy with those five extra points. In the past two games, LJ has compiled 52 carries for 319 yards and three touchdowns. He also showed he still has some burst with a 65-yard gallop in the game against the Broncos.
September 21, 2008
Running back Larry Johnson rushed 24 times for 121 yards and a touchdown in the Week 3 loss to the Falcons. His day included a run of 48 yards.

Our View:The Chiefs continued to work Jamaal Charles and Kolby Smith into the mix, but LJ remains the clear workhorse. His touchdown came from one yard out, and he nearly scored a second time on the Chiefs final drive.
September 18, 2008
Chiefs running back Larry Johnson met with coach Herm Edwards and offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, who told him he would remain a big part of the offense, but he needed to understand that if the team got down by a lot of points then they would need to throw the ball, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Johnson whined after last week, when he got just 12 carries. The problem with this news for fantasy owners is that the Chiefs figure to be losing in a great deal of contests. His fantasy star is fading away.
September 17, 2008
The Kansas City Star reports that the Chiefs have been practicing their goal line package without running back Larry Johnson.

Our View:Uh-oh. This is certainly bad news for fantasy owners as it could be the difference between 14 touchdowns and seven. We'll keep a close eye on the situation, but if you can still get a star in return for LJ, you may want to consider it.
September 16, 2008
After complaining about his lack of carries in the Chiefs Week 2 loss to Oakland, Kansas City running back Larry Johnson will be toting the rock quite a bit, according to the Kansas City Star. "He’ll still our starter and still the guy we’re going to most often. We’d like him to touch the ball 20, 25 times every game," Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said.

Our View:The problem is that the Chiefs were playing from behind and had to throw the ball Week 2. They also used other backs in passing situations in order to overcome Johnson's shortcomings at pass blocking. Fantasy owners may be in for a long season with Johnson, however, as the Chiefs will probably be playing from behind often this year.
September 14, 2008
Chiefs running back Larry Johnson is not happy with his role in the Chiefs offense, and proclaimed that he needs more carries, according to the AP. "It just didn't happen for me today because of personnel changes. I've always needed 20-30 carries, that's always been me. It's tough not being able to get into a rhythm," Johnson said.

Our View:Johnson, who had just 12 carries on the day, was unhappy with his role in the offense last season as well. Fantasy owners can feel his pain, though, as he has just under 100 rushing yards and no touchdowns on the season. Hopefully he can get back on track soon.
September 14, 2008
Larry Johnson carried the ball 12 times for 22 yards in Sunday's loss to Oakland.

Our View:Oakland ranked 31st in rushing defense last year and gave up 141 yards on the ground to Denver last week. If Kansas City can't run the ball against Oakland at home, it could be a long season. After two weeks, LJ has 96 rushing yards on 32 carries, and is averaging 2.6 per tote.
September 6, 2008
The Chiefs are taking along a mere three healthy wide receivers to New England this weekend which means Larry Johnson will be the primary offensive focus of nearly every play, much the same as he was in 2006.

Our View:Expect New England to counter by stacking eight in the box to stop Johnson. Regardless, he is a good bet for 25 carries, a score and the bulk of the Chiefs' yards on Sunday.
September 5, 2008
Larry Johnson is excited to begin his 2008 campaign, according to the Kansas City Star. Johnson said, "I know everybody else is excited, but I’ve been waiting to play since week nine of last year. I’m doing pretty well with it."

Our View:Johnson has a tough match-up against the Patriots on their home field Sunday, but Johnson should still see a heavy workload with offensive coordinator Chan Gailey at the controls of the offense.
August 28, 2008
Larry Johnson has had a ton of work this preseason and that will not change tonight in the Chiefs final tune-up before the regular season. According to the Kansas City Star Johnson has carried the ball 35 times and has only averaged 3.3 yards per carry.

Our View:Even though Johnson has had a poor preseason and is a legitimate first round pick and if he can stay healthy will be one of the best backs in the league.
August 16, 2008
Larry Johnson rushed 14 times for 61 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Cardinals.

Our View:It doesn't look like Herm Edwards has any intention of lightening LJ's load this year, although Kolby Smith did see some third-down work during Johnson's drives.
August 7, 2008
Chiefs running back Larry Johnson got a solid amount of work, rushing eight times for 18 yards in Kansas City's first preseason game.

Our View:Johnson didn't have great numbers, but he will get plenty of carries in the season, and those are the ones fantasy owners care about.
August 5, 2008
Larry Johnson will get some carries during the preseason, according to the Kansas City Star. “He’ll have to play in the preseason, get his carries and his runs and his timing with the offensive line,” coach Herm Edwards said.

Our View:We saw what happened after Johnson missed the majority of last years preseason. Staying healthy and getting on the same page as the rest of the offense will be key if LJ wants to return to glory.
June 9, 2008
Larry Johnson sat out of Sunday's practice, but fully participated in the first two days of mini-camp, according to Chiefs.com.

Our View:The team is just being cautious, and he has reportedly recovered favorably from his foot injury. He practiced for four-straight days prior to Sunday.
May 27, 2008
The broken foot that sidelined Larry Johnson for half of last season appears to be healed, according to the AP. The running back participated in a 90-minute practice Tuesday and felt great afterward, saying, "It felt good to come out here and still be able to come out and run. Body-wise, I'm 100 percent."

Our View:Johnson will have plenty of detractors after last season's disappointment and the Chiefs' anemic offense, but you shouldn't let him slip out of the first round of your draft.
May 26, 2008
The Chiefs are already preparing to rely heavily on Larry Johnson during the 2008 regular season. Without an experienced veteran at wide receiver, and young Brodie Croyle at quarterback, the team will sport a run-heavy scheme.

Our View:The coaching staff is already pampering Johnson this year. The All Pro is not participating when the team practices on the artificial surface at the Chiefs training facility. LJ was held out of Thursday's practice because rain forced the team to move inside. Backup Kolby Smith ran with the first team.
May 22, 2008
The fans in Kansas City were hoping to see running back Larry Johnson in action today, but they left disappointed, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:Coach Herm Edwards had planned on getting Johnson his first action in reps with the first-team offense, and that was the case in the morning session of exercises. However, rain moved in and forced practice into the domed field at the team's practice facilities, and thus Edwards decided to rest Johnson rather than run him on the artificial turf. Johnson missed the bulk of the second half of last season with a broken foot, but the team reports he is healthy and cleared for any and all football activities. Thursday was the first day the Chiefs opened practice to the media, but the bulk of the practice was held with Kolby Smith lined up as the starting rusher.
May 20, 2008
Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Tuesday that the club has agreed to terms of two-year contracts with six rookie free agents. G L.J. Anderson, S Khayyam Burns, LB Weston Dacus, G Edwin Harrison, LB Lerue Rumph and RB Dantrell Savage all agreed to terms. Savage is hoping to make the team as the No. 3 running back behind Larry Johnson and Kolby Smith -- and play a significant role as a special teamer.

Our View: Savage (5-8, 182) appeared in 22 contests over two seasons at Oklahoma State after transferring from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He carried the ball 349 times for 2,092 yards (6.0 avg.) with 17 TDs and caught 35 passes for 307 yards (8.8 avg.) with two TDs for the Cowboys. His 11 offensive TDs led the team in 2007. Savage concluded his impressive prep career at Jordan High School in Columbus, Georgia.
May 19, 2008
The Chiefs intend to go easy on Larry Johnson when offseason practice begins today, this according to the Kansas City Star. The Chiefs have 15 practice sessions planned over the next four weeks, including their June 6-8 minicamp. Monday's practice is closed to the public. “We’ll bring him along slowly,” coach Herm Edwards said. “We’re not going to beat him up. We’re not going to rush him a whole lot. We want to see where he’s at. “He’s been running straight and he’s been doing all of that for a long time, but as far as cutting and football things like that, we want to limit him some.”

Our View:Johnson broke his foot during an early-November game against Green Bay at Arrowhead Stadium. He returned to practice briefly late in the season, but the Chiefs decided to shut him down for the year when Johnson reported some soreness in the foot. LJ has had somewhat of a fall from grace this spring. He was a top three draft pick in nearly ever format last year and he is currently leaving Mock Draft boards late in the first round.
May 16, 2008
The Chiefs have been working on reestablishing the team's offensive line this off-season so that they can once again feature Larry Johnson as the centerpiece of their offense, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:The team is trying to bring some stability to the O-line which will go a long way to allowing LJ to do his thing. Of course, we still are a bit leery of counting too heavily on Johnson after his injury issues last year, so exercise caution here with the whole situation.
February 25, 2008
Larry Johnson may not be the only star RB in the Chiefs backfield in 2008 if the team ends up selecting Darren McFadden in the draft, according to a report on Yahoo. “He’s a game-changing talent,” said Kansas City president Carl Peterson. “He helped himself a lot today … if he’s at No. 5 overall, I’m going to have to consider him long and hard. … And I have a great running back [Larry Johnson].” At this point we have no idea why Peterson made this comment. Is it because McFadden was so spectacular that he felt compelled to? It is because Larry Johnson is still bothered by the mysterious foot injury that wiped out the second half of his 2007 season? Is it because he wants to drum up a trading partner for the team's pick? Stay tuned but this news doesn't exactly give us the warm and fuzzies about LJ's future.
January 31, 2008
Someone from the Chiefs organization finally confirmed Larry Johnson's injury. It only took about three months. The running back came out on Wednesday and tells the Kansas City Star, "The bone in my fourth toe by the joint had a slight crack in it, and it shifted a little bit." Johnson suffered the injury on November 4 and did not play again. "When I kept trying to come back, I was pushing it too hard where I was always going to have pain," Johnson adds. "I think letting it rest a little bit is going to get back to 100 percent like it is.”
January 4, 2008
Chiefs president and general manager Carl Peterson confirmed on Thursday that he has no plans to trade either running back Larry Johnson or tight end Tony Gonzalez this offseason. "Once you make a commitment to a player as we did this year to a Tony Gonzalez and a Larry Johnson for multiple years for guaranteed dollars there is literally no way you trade them in the second year. The cap acceleration would destroy you," Peterson explains to the team's official web site.
