Larry Johnson returned to practice with the Chiefs Monday, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:He was absent from practice two weeks ago for undisclosed reasons. New head coach Todd Haley did not mind that Johnson was away from the team, and Johnson is gearing up to resume his role as the Chiefs' starting running back.

Larry Johnson missed Friday's practice with the Chiefs, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:It was not disclosed why LJ did not attend, but head coach Todd Haley is not concerned. As of now, Johnson is prepping to be the Chiefs' No. 1 running back in 2009, and could bounce back following a disappointing 2008 campaign under the direction of Haley, who helped lead the Cardinals to the Super Bowl while working as an offensive coordinator.

The Kansas City Star reports that Larry Johnson worked with the first team during the first day of a voluntary minicamp.

Our View:Johnson asked earlier this offseason to be traded and other reports suggest the team will release him following the draft. As for his fantasy value, it should remain solid if he is a No. 1 running back heading into next season. Even if he stays in Kansas City, the acquisition of Matt Cassell will keep opposing defenses from stacking the box against the run.

ESPN.com is reporting that Larry Johnson will attend the Chiefs' voluntary minicamp this weekend. Johnson originally asked to be traded, but has since backed off those demands.

Our View:Johnson may be doing this to try to stay on the Chiefs' roster so he can collect his $4.55M guaranteed salary. While his agent believes he will be a member of the Chiefs this season, it is more likely that he will get cut.

Despite losing his grievance, Larry Johnson would still like to remain with the Chiefs, according to the Kansas City Star. His agent (Peter Schaffer) said, "He is excited about the direction the team is going in. What happened today has no bearing on his desire to play for the Chiefs."

Our View:The Chiefs may still decide to trade or release Johnson as his future guaranteed payments are not owed by the team. The team will have a chance to add a top back with the No. 3 pick in the upcoming draft if they wish to do so.
