Rex Grossman has signed a one-year deal with the Redskins, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View:Grossman backed up Matt Schaub in Houston last year and looked awful in his lone appearance. It's tough to believe this is the same guy that led the Bears to a Super Bowl a few years back. Grossman will likely back up Jason Campbell in Washington, though he could receive competition from Colt Brennan for that role. Redskins fans probably shouldn't expect Rex to lead them to a Super Bowl anytime soon, both because their team doesn't seem ready to compete for a title at this point, and because Grossman kind of, well, isn't good.

Rex Grossman has been named the Texans' backup quarterback for Week 1, according to the team's official website. Grossman beat out Dan Orlovsky for the backup job.

Our View:Coach Gary Kubiak said that he feels more comfortable with Grossman at this point, but he also mentioned that this might not be the order the whole season. With starter Matt Schaub currently hobbled by an ankle injury, Grossman could see action as soon as this week.

The Houston Chronicle is reporting that the battle for the backup quarterback job between Rex Grossman and Dan Orlovsky is even at this point. Grossman was impressive in the team's last preseason game, throwing for two touchdowns and 197 yards.

Our View:It is telling that head coach Gary Kubiak is calling the race even, because Orlovsky was believed to be the backup before Grossman's performance in the last game. With Matt Schaub's injury history, Kubiak better be prepared to name a backup, as it seems unlikely Schaub makes it through 16 games.

Rex Grossman put together a very nice performance on Friday night in the Texans' final preseason game. Grossman was 9-for-16 passing for 197 yards and two touchdowns against the Bucs.

Our View:Grossman got quite a bit more time tonight than Dan Orlovsky, and he made the most of it. The battle to backup Matt Shaub just got a bit more interesting, and considering Schaub's inability to stay healthy, it could be a big deal who gets named the backup. It looks like Orlovsky is still the guy for now, but Grossman made a case for himself with his play tonight.

After initially thinking he would miss a month after pulling his hamstring in mid-August, the Texans revealed on Tuesday that back-up quarterback Rex Grossman will play in the team's preseason game this Friday, according to CBS Sports.

Our View:With Matt Schaub reminding the world this week that he is amazingly injury prone, we are again confronted with the possibility that the NFL's most infamous quarterback might get some snaps this season. He's still currently behind Dan "what out-of-bounds line?" Orlovsky on the team's depth chart, but has far more experience, and would definitely be a candidate to replace Schaub should he, as usual, go down with injury.
