Jeff Reed re-signed with the Steelers yesterday for the next five years, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

January 27, 2004
Steelers kicker Jeff Reed underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left hip last Friday, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Reed is on crutches and won't be able to kick until May. He does not currently have a contract for 2004.

In the first game of his career, new Steelers place kicker Jeff Reed connected on 3-of-4 field goal attempts and 2-of-3 extra points. The missed field goal was from 51 yards, and on the attempt he lost his footing on what was a very poor surface at Heinz Field.

The Steelers signed rookie kicker Jeff Reed on Tuesday, according to Sports Network. Reed takes over for Todd Peterson, who was placed on the injured reserve after breaking a rib on Sunday.
