According to Adam Caplan on Twitter, the Texans have re-signed safety Brian Russell.

Our View:The Texans waived Russell last Wednesday, but with Dominique Barber landing on IR they were desperate for depth at the position.

The Texans waived Brian Russell on Wednesday, according to NFL insider Adam Caplan.

Our View:The move was made to make room for Ephraim Salaam. Russell has a nine-interception season on his resume with the Vikings in 2003 but has done little since.

According to Michael C. Wright on Twitter, the Jaguars have released safety Brian Russell.

Our View:Russell was signed in early September, but never managed to make an impact with the Jags. He was signed for depth/insurance purposes, but they never even used him to fill that role. He won't be missed.

Updating a previous report, the Jaguars have officially signed safety Brian Russell, according to the Twitter page of Adam Caplan.

Our View:Russell will provide some depth in the defensive backfield for the Jags, but he doesn't figure to see a ton of playing time outside of special teams barring injury.

Our View:Russell would provide depth at safety for the Jaguars, but will not likely push for a starting job.
