March 14, 2010 Shaun Hill has been dealt to the Detroit Lions, according to the Our View:Bye bye Drew Stanton and Daunte Culpepper. While Hill is by no means a great quarterback, he should be a much better back up than that tandem, and is a solid insurance policy on the talented but injury prone Matthew Stafford. |

December 30, 2009 Shaun Hill was limited in today's practice while nursing a back ailment, according to the 49ers' Our View:Hill has not started a game since October 25, and holds no fantasy value as long as Alex Smith is healthy. |

November 16, 2009 Shaun Hill is not likely to get another chance at starting with the 49ers, according to the Our View:The team likes him as a back-up, but thinks that is what he is best suited for. Since taking over the starting job, Alex Smith has completed passes at a higher rate, averaged more yards per pass attempt and taken less sacks. He will finish out the season as the team's starter, barring injury. |

October 25, 2009 Shaun Hill was benched in the game against Houston at the start of the third quarter, and has been replaced by Alex Smith. Our View:Hill had completed 6-of-11 passes for 45 yards with no touchdowns or turnovers in the first half. The 49ers are down 21-0, so head coach Mike Singletary is obviously looking for a spark from Smith in the second half. Also, it's been confirmed that this benching is performance related, and not due to an injury. |

October 11, 2009 Shaun Hill was a disappointment in Sunday's 45-10 loss to the Falcons at Monster Park, as he only completed 15-of-38 passes for 198 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception. He fared better on the ground, as he led the team with 53 rushing yards on four carries. Our View:Hill cooled off after throwing two touchdown passes in each of his previous two games. The 49ers have their bye in Week 6. |
