Doug Jolley is expected to visit with the Panthers today, according to the Charlotte Observer. There have been indications that new offensive coordinator Jeff Davidson wants more production from the tight ends. Jolley, though, caught just one pass last year in 11 games with the Bucs.

The Jets traded Doug Jolley to the Bucs Thursday for an undisclosed draft choice, according to ESPN.com. Jolley, a former second-round pick who was acquired before last season from Oakland, caught 29 balls for 324 yards and a TD last year. Jolley will likely be the No. 2 tight end in Tampa behind Alex Smith, but he should see plenty of playing time, as coach Jon Gruden loves multiple-tight end sets. He's not a given to beat out former Jet Anthony Becht for the backup job, though.

Doug Jolley isn't assured of a roster spot with the Jets, according to the New York Daily News. In fact, he could well be traded before the final roster cut on Saturday.

Jets tight end Doug Jolley set season highs with nine catches for 102 yards and a touchdown on Sunday. Jolley had been a bust since arriving in a trade that saw the Jets give up their first-round draft pick last April.

New Jets offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger likes to use his tight ends far more than formar coordinator Paul Hackett, according to Newsday. Heimerdinger plans on using Doug Jolley as a downfield threat. "Jolley reminds me of [Frank] Wycheck," said Heimerdinger, referring to his prolific pass-catching tight end in Tennessee. "Frank definitely wasn't the 250-pound tight end that killed people, but he got the job done."
