Chester Taylor will work out on his own in Houston rather than with the Vikings, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View:Taylor is trying to make a statement as the Vikings do not currently want to offer him a contract extension. He is entering the final year of his contract with the club. The workouts are voluntary, and the team really does not mind his absence right now.
February 16, 2009
The Star-Tribune reports that the Vikings will not attempt to extend Chester Taylor's contract this offseason. It is the final year on his deal.

Our View:Taylor has scored at least six touchdowns in each of the past three seasons, despite playing behind star runningback Adrian Peterson. He has been a good sport as the No. 2 back, but many believe he has the ability to be an every-down back. he has caught at least 40 passes in three of the past four seasons and had 1,214 rushing yards in 2006.
January 4, 2009
Chester Taylor led all Vikings with five catches for 36 yards as the Vikings lost to the Eagles on Sunday. He also had 12 carries for 48 yards.

Our View:Taylor was clearly a big part of the Vikings' offensive schemes on Sunday. He had 35 catches and 101 carries this season to finish with six touchdowns.
January 2, 2009
Chester Taylor could see more snaps in the Vikings' backfield this week because of his proficiency in picking up blitzes, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Our View:Blocking - not to mention protecting the football - is not the strong point of Adrian Peterson, and the Eagles blitz often, necessitating the use of Taylor.
December 14, 2008
Chester Taylor ran 10 times and caught three passes for a total of 103 yards and a touchdown on Sunday as the Vikings defeated the Cardinals 35-14 on Sunday.

Our View:He picked up one more touchdown than Adrian Peterson in the game and was generally very effective on the day. He has four touchdowns in his last five games.
