Chester Taylor has signed a four-year deal with the Chicago Bears, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. It will pay him a surprisingly high sum of $12.7 million, including "$7 million guaranteed in year one."

Our View:Somewhere, Matt Forte is squirming. While $12.7 million is an absurdly high amount of money to give to a 30-year-old career back-up, the Bears do finally have a back actually capable of eking out some tough yards (not to mention another pass catcher). Forte's 2010 fantasy stock may have just taken a dramatic hit.

Chester Taylor will visit the Bears on Friday, according to Adam Caplan's twitter page. The news originally came from the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View:An undisclosed team reportedly offered Taylor a significant sum in guaranteed money, but we won't speculate that it was Chicago. Taylor is going to be a hot target in free agency, and Minnesota would still like to re-sign him as well.

There are several teams interested in acquiring Chester Taylor, according to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.

Our View:The Lions and Texans are expected to make a serious move to reel him in, and the Bills, Broncos, Chiefs, Giants, Bears and Steelers are believed to have Taylor on their radar as well. The Vikings still want to re-sign him, but a deal is not imminent.

The Vikings want to keep free agent running back Chester Taylor, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:Supposedly, the two sides are going to work on a deal at this week's combine. Stay tuned.

Pro Football Weekly speculates that the Vikings are unlikely to re-sign free agent Chester Taylor this offseason.

Our View:The key word here is "speculation", as it's hard to tell what exactly will happen in the Taylor sweepstakes. The Vikings would certainly love to retain him, as he's the ideal third-down back/insurance for Adrian Peterson, though he could probably get more money and a bigger role elsewhere. Should he leave, look for the Vikings to pursue a back in the mid-rounds on draft day. AP owners should be ready to target a new handcuff next season.
