Ladell Betts has been released by the Redskins, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:The two sides may have to reach an injury settlement before the release is official though. Betts tore his ACL and MCL in Week 11 of last season. He was a solid rusher prior to suffering the injury.

Updating a previous report, the Washington Redskins have placed injured running back Ladell Betts on injured reserve, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Betts suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys.

Our View:No surprise here, as Betts will require surgery on his injured knee. It looks like Rock Cartwright will get more opportunities with Betts out, so this is a huge hit for an already struggling team.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that running back Ladell Betts has both a torn ACL and MCL, and will require surgery.

Our View:In other words, he's lost for the season. With Clinton Portis also out for Week 12, for the moment, Rock Cartwright is Washington's feature back. Like most things Washington does, not signing Larry Johnson is looking unwise about now.

The knee injury that forced Ladell Betts from the Redskins' 7-6 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday has been revealed to be a torn MCL, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:An awful break for the 3-7 Redskins. Clinton Portis has already been ruled out for next Sunday, so the team will for sure be without its top two backs. Stay tuned for a more specific update on Betts.

Updating an earlier report, Ladell Betts has left the sideline on a cart after spending time on the trainer's table, according to the Washington Post on twitter.

Our View:Betts has his left leg immobilized with a large cast. The source believes he may have a MCL/ACL injury. Stay tuned for updates on his injury.
