Defensive end Charles Grant led a big defensive effort for the Saints in Week 4 against the 49ers. He registered two sacks and ended the day with five solo tackles and one assist.

Our View:Grant hadn't had a two-sack day since the last game of the 2004 season. This outing says more about the 49ers line and pass protection than about Grant.

The arraignment for Saints defensive end Charles Grant on a charge of involuntary manslaughter has been postponed, according to ProFootballTalk.com. The decision is still being made whether or not to try all eight defendants together or separately.

Our View:Grant and individuals he was with got into a fight where a pregnant woman was shot, killing her and the child. Grant was stabbed in the neck during the melee.

The arraignment in Saints defensive end Charles Grant's involuntary manslaughter case has been scheduled for August 15 at 9 am in Early County, Georgia, according to Nola.com.

Our View:Grant will enter a plea of not guilty, according to his attorney, Edward Tolley. Because involuntary manslaughter is a felony, Grant likely will appear in person. Grant was indicted in May on the charge of involuntary manslaughter and the misdemeanor charge of affray for his alleged involvement in a fight that led to the shooting death of a pregnant woman outside of a Blakely, Georgia, nightclub. Grant was one of seven men indicted on the manslaughter charge. His longtime friend, Laquient Macklin, is charged with felony murder and feticide for allegedly firing the bullet that hit Korynda Reed, a bystander who happened to be carrying child.

Charles Grant has been sued for $5 million for his involvement in a fight that led to the shooting death of Korynda Reed, who was pregnant, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Grant was indicted on involuntary manslaughter charges in the incident but has maintained his innocence. A trial date has not been set.

New Orleans defensive end Charles Grant appeared before a judge today, the first in several steps following his indictment by a grand jury on an involuntary manslaughter charge, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Assistant District Attorney Ron Smith told reporters Grant was taken before the judge, was formally presented with the charges, read his rights, and bond was set at $10,000. The charges stem from a February altercation at a nightclub. Grant, who was stabbed in the neck during the fracas, was charged by an Early County grand jury that also charged Laquient Macklin with felony murder and feticide in the shooting death of Korynda Reed, 23. Reed died after being taken to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, after the fight early February 3.
