The Raiders will put wide receiver Javon Walker on season-ending injured reserve very soon, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View:Walker has an injury to his left foot, and this move was fully expected. Al Davis shouldn't have talked Walker out of retirement when Walker told him that's what he wanted to do this summer, as he could have saved himself many millions of dollars.
November 16, 2008
Raiders inactives: QB Andrew Walter (3rd), DB Michael Waddell, RB Jason Davis, DE Derrick Burgess, LB Ricky Brown, C Jake Grove, OT James Marten, WR Javon Walker.

Our View:JaMarcus Russell (knee) and Darren McFadden (toe) are active, but it would require a great leap of faith to have either player in your fantasy lineup this week.
November 13, 2008
Javon Walker will miss the rest of the season due to an injured left foot, according to the Contra Costa Times. “I’m done for the season,” Walker said. “They’ve got to put some screws in.”

Our View:The team hasn't confirmed Walker's diagnosis, but there is no reason to doubt his words. Walker was given a $12 million signing bonus and a million dollars in salary this season and for that bounty he gave the Raiders 15 receptions, 196 yards and one score in what was yet another great signing for Al Davis.
November 10, 2008
Javon Walker had an MRI on Monday on his injured ankle, according to the Sacramento Bee. The results will not be known until Wednesday, but the wide receiver did finish Sunday's game.

Our View:Walker has been a huge disappointment this season. He was expected to be a No. 1 receiver in Oakland but he has just 15 catches and one touchdown through eight games.
November 6, 2008
Javon Walker is safe and coach Tom Cable denied the report that he could be the next member of the Raiders to be cut, according to the SF Chronicle. Cable said, "Be very real about it. Javon has really brought his game to a whole new level the last few weeks. Javon Walker is in no way not going to be a part of this football team."

Our View:Walker hasn't actually raised his game to a new level as Cable states, as Walker has only hauled in three receptions for 35 yards over the last two games. He should remain on the bench in fantasy leagues with a tough match-up against Carolina.
November 5, 2008
There is speculation that Javon Walker is under consideration to be released by the Raiders, according to ESPN.

Our View:Owner Al Davis is highly displeased after the Raiders were shut out by the Falcons in Week 9, and Walker is believed to be among a dozen players considered for release. Walker only registered 13 receptions and one score over seven games.
October 19, 2008
In four games coming into Week 7 Javon Walker has only caught five passes for 59 yards. In the Raiders' 16-13 win over the Jets, Walker had five catches for 75 yards and his first touchdown.

Our View:There was talk about Walker being taken out of the starting lineup but Sunday he answered some of the questions that everybody have been asking. Even though Walker had a good day, he is no longer a must start.
October 16, 2008
It is possible that Javon Walker will not remain a starting wideout for the Oakland Raiders, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View:As most people who knew what they were talking about predicted, Walker has been a huge disappointment in Oakland after they threw an absurd contract at him. He has a measly five catches for 59 yards and no touchdowns.
September 30, 2008
The Lane Kiffin era has officially ended with the Raiders as owner Al Davis fired him on Tuesday, according to ESPN.

Our View:The Raiders are currently 1-3 and Davis decided he had enough and was ready to start fresh with a new coach. The leading candidate to replace Kiffin is offensive line coach Tom Cable, but the team is yet to make a final decision.
September 30, 2008
Head coach Lane Kiffin is expected to be fired today, according to the AP.

Our View:As for his replacement, Raiders' offensive coordinator Greg Knapp, offensive line coach Tom Cable and Paul Hackett (an advance scout with the team and a former offensive coordinator in the league), reportedly were first in line to be interviewed. The Raiders went 4-12 in his first year in 2007, and owner Al Davis is ready to end his tenure following a 1-3 start in 2008.
September 21, 2008
Wide receiver Javon Walker (hamstring) is active for Week 3 against the Bills.

Our View:Fantasy owners should stay away from Walker, who has done nothing to justify his monster contract. Plus, the Raiders don't pass very often.
September 19, 2008
Javon Walker practiced Friday and is expected to play Sunday at Buffalo, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Our View:This is encouraging news regarding the Raiders' passing attack, but Walker's playing time is yet to be determined and may serve in a limited role. He should remain reserved in fantasy leagues, especially against a tough Bills' defense that is coming off a big win over the Jaguars.
September 19, 2008
Javon Walker is being slowed by a hamstring ailment, but was able to finish Thursday's practice, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:Coach Lane Kiffin noted that he seemed fine, but Walker will be a game-time decision in Week 3 at Buffalo. If he plays, he will be a risky fantasy option against a solid Bills' defense that is coming off a big win over Jacksonville.
September 17, 2008
Javon Walker couldn’t complete practice on Wednesday because of his hamstring injury and his status remains in doubt according to the Contra Costa Times. When asked if his continued absence has hurt, caoch Lane Kiffin was frank. "Yeah, it has. Here’s the guy who was supposed to be the No. 1 receiver when he comes in," Kiffin said. "Unfortunately he’s had some issues and he’s had the injuries, and here we go again. We’re warming up for the game Sunday hoping that he would get to play. He didn’t feel very good then. Today, he comes out, we talked bout it being a big week for him. He played well against Buffalo last year at the start of the year (9 catches, 119 yards). I started talking to him yesterday about it, about a big week, this team needs you, then unfortunately, halfway through practice, he can’t go anymore."

Our View:Walker’s inability to finish practice continues a trend in which the lead receiver has been unable for one reason for another to step up and assume his role. It's a little bittersweet to know his coaches are as ticked off with him as his fantasy owners are.
September 14, 2008
Javon Walker started for Oakland in the game against Kansas City, but failed to catch a single pass in the Raiders victory.

Our View:Walker, who signed a six-year, $55 million deal with over $16 million in guarantees during the offseason, is well on his way to being a colossal bust in Oaktown.
September 13, 2008
Javon Walker will play Sunday, but coach Lane Kiffin said how well Walker looks today in a workout will determine whether he is healthy enough to start, according to the Oakland Tribune.

Our View:Walker still has upside despite all his knee problems, but don't expect much from him right away.
September 10, 2008
It appears that Javon Walker will make his season debut this week against the Chiefs. Walker went through a full practice and both head coach Lane Kiffin and Walker said he is ready to go, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View:If Walker is indeed ready to go this weekend he should be considered for your fantasy lineup.
September 9, 2008
The Oakland Tribune indicates that Javon Walker is expected to make his debut with the Raiders in Week 2 against the rival Chiefs. He could have played in Week 1 against Denver with a band on his ailing hamstring, but the team did not want to risk further injury.

Our View:The Raiders were lit up by the Broncos 41-14 against Denver, but quarterback JaMarcus Russell fired two touchdown passes (with no interceptions) and Walker should be considered for fantasy lineups in Week 2.
September 8, 2008
For the Monday night matchup against Denver, the following Oakland players are inactive: Javon Walker, Marques Tuiasosopo, Todd Watkins, Rashad Baker, Kalimba Edwards, John Wade, and Mario Henderson, according to Raiders.com.

Our View:Not a shocker with Walker missing the game. His injury seems like its going to linger and effect his performance for awhile, if not all season.
September 7, 2008
Head coach Lane Kiffin expects wide receiver Javon Walker to be available for Monday night's game against the Broncos, according to the Sacramento Bee. "They did everything and both of them ran," Kiffin says of Walker and Kalimba Edwards. "We'll continue to look at them (today), but both of them seem fine to me." Walker has been dealing with a sore left hamstring.

Our View:Fantasy owners should steer clear of Walker this week. His injury could make it easier for Dre Bly or Champ Bailey to blanket him, and we don't trust JaMarcus Russell much at this point.
September 6, 2008
Javon Walker practiced on Saturday but remains questionable for Monday's matchup against his former team, the Denver Broncos. The Contra Costa Times expects him to play.

Our View:We like Walker's matchup against the team that cut him at the end of last season. Coach Lane Kiffin indicated that Ashley Lelie and Johnnie Lee Higgins would likely split snaps at split end if Walker cannot play Monday against Denver.
September 6, 2008
Javon Walker remains questionable with a pulled hamstring, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:Coach Lane Kiffin indicated that Ashley Lelie and Johnnie Lee Higgins would likely split snaps at split end if Walker cannot play Monday against Denver.
September 5, 2008
Javon Walker is expected back at practice today, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Our View:He is dealing with a hamstring ailment and was held out of Thursday's practice. If he misses practice today or suffers a setback, then Ashlie Lelie would be the top candidate to replace him in the starting lineup Monday against Denver, who he was drafted by in 2002.
August 24, 2008
If you have watched the Raiders this preseason, you should take note that the lean on the pass is not an indication of things to come, but rather an attempt by coach Lane Kiffin to determine if quarterback JaMarcus Russell and top target Javon Walker are going to be able to form chemistry, according to the Sporting News.

Our View:Kiffin tells the News that Walker's lack of time in practice has him concerned, but he realizes the two may be a powerful force. It also provides an excellent excuse to rest rookie rusher Darren McFadden, but the goal of extended passing in the gameplan has been to evaluate the situation at hand and determine if last-minute changes may be needed. Based on Walker's performance last night (four catches, 60 yards), the duo appears to be on the right track.
August 24, 2008
Javon Walker finally looked good for the Raiders Saturday, leading the team with four catches for 60 yards.

Our View:The Raiders had to be thrilled to finally get some production out of Walker, especially with Drew Carter now out for the year.
August 21, 2008
Javon Walker is continuing to struggle in practice, according to the Oakland Tribune. “Javon hasn’t had a very good week. It’s going to be a big game for him,” Lane Kiffin said regarding the upcoming preseason game.

Our View:Walker needs to step up, as he is being paid to be the team's go-to receiver. With all the drama surrounding him in the offseason, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
August 17, 2008
Javon Walker is considered to be the No. 1 receiver for the Raiders, but coach Lane Kiffin commented that he needs to start earning his title, according to the SF Chronicle. Walker was given a six-year deal worth $55 million and Kiffin did not feel he played up to the contract on Friday against Tennessee. Walker did not register a catch, and dropped a pass he should have hauled in. Kiffin said, "There's a couple of balls there that we would have liked him to come up with. That's discouraging because he was paid an awful lot of money, paid like one of the top five receivers in the NFL. We need him to make those plays."

Our View:Walker reported to the team in less than solid shape in the off-season, and worried the team when he considered retirement. Walker could be a top-30 fantasy receiver, but should not be selected with a high pick to be safe.
August 15, 2008
Javon Walker was held catchless Friday and had a poor drop in the red zone in the loss to Tennessee.

Our View:Walker, at best, is worth a late-round pick in 10- and 12-team leagues.
August 14, 2008
Coach Lane Kiffin commented on new receiver Javon Walker, according to the SF Chronicle. Kiffin said, "He's put together a couple really good practices. He looks to be in the right frame of mind lately and so if we can continue to work on that and push that, it's going in a positive direction."

Our View:Walker is feeling great and ready to start playing games. His weight is 206 pounds, which is the lightest he has been in his seven seasons in the NFL. This is encouraging news, but he remains a risky fantasy prospect due to his durability.
August 8, 2008
Javon Walker commented that he is fully committed to the Raiders and wants the team to forget that he considered retiring, according to ESPN. He said, "I want people to know why I thought about it, but I also want it to go away, too. But people need to know I am fully committed to this team. I will not leave. I am very excited about the season. I had had a lot of things going on internally."

Our View:This is encouraging news, but he remains a risky fantasy prospect, due to his durability.
August 2, 2008
Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker was talked out of retiring on Thursday by team owner Al Davis, according to ESPN.com. The wide out offered to return the $11 million signing bonus he received after signing as a free agent.

Our View:It was well known that Walker was struggling, but this still comes as a surprise. He has had a difficult time recovering from his knee injuries, and was beaten in Las Vegas in the offseason. You have to wonder how much a guy who offered to give back $11 million dollars really wants to play, and if he'll be out there giving maximum effort every down. Not that Walker was high on fantasy draft boards to begin with, but bump him down a few notches because of the threat of him deciding he no longer wants to play after the season starts.
August 1, 2008
Oakland wide receiver Javon Walker has struggled so far in training camp, as he has not recovered fully from his knee problems and will need to put in extra work, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:The contract the Raiders gave to Walker was amazing, especially considering they had to know his knee was still an issue. Walker has enough talent to be a contributing fantasy player, but only if his health allows it.
July 23, 2008
Coach Lane Kiffin states Javon Walker will be ready for the start of training camp, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:This is encouraging news, as Walker has not practiced since he was robbed and assaulted in Las Vegas last month. Previous reports indicated that Walker's jaw was broken in the incident, so it does seem a bit hard to believe Walker will be ready for full-contact if that injury news is true.
July 8, 2008
Las Vegas police have indicated they have made a second arrest in the robbery and beating of Javon Walker, according to the AP. Police say 40-year-old Deshawn Thomas was arrested Monday in Las Vegas on kidnapping, robbery and conspiracy charges, and is accused of beating and robbing Walker and leaving him unconscious on a side street near the Las Vegas Strip.

Our View:Hopefully this will become old news by the time the new season kicks off. The Raiders are counting on Walker to carry their aerial attack as their top target this season.
June 28, 2008
Arfat Fadel, the man arrested and charged with kidnapping, beating, and robbing Oakland receiver Javon Walker , was held on Friday and bail was set at $86,000, according to the Associated Press. Public defender Shane Emerick has told reporters his client is likely to remain in jail.Justice of the Peace Tony Abbatangelo set bail at $73,000 and scheduled a preliminary hearing for July 16 on four felony charges: first-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, and battery causing substantial bodily harm. A kidnapping conviction carries a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole.

Our View:It carries little-to-no influence on Walker's fantasy value, though it continues to keep the drama surrounding this embattled target in the headlines. The Raiders are counting on getting huge yardage contributions from Walker to make the offense work this season. If this continues to affect his mentality towards his life on the football field, then it becomes rather difficult to suggest the wideout is worthy of wager.
June 26, 2008
Javon Walker suffered a fractured jaw, fractured orbital bone and concussion, according to a police report obtained by Fox 5 Vegas.

Our View:Walker is supposed to be ready for training camp with Oakland, and these injuries don't seem to be overly serious, but it is something to keep an eye on. Taking a helmet-to-helmet hit with a fractured jaw is probably not a pleasant thing.
June 24, 2008
In the continued story surrounding the assault of Oakland recevier Javon Walker , authorities are now reporting that Walker was in fact duped by Arfat Fadel, the man arrested today in connection with the crime, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View:The police believe Fadel targeted Walker for this crime. Fadal and an associate were seen in some of the crowded nightclubs where Walker was shown on surveillance videotapes partying from about 9 p.m. June 15, until shortly before he was found unconscious at 7:19 a.m. the next morning about a block east of the Las Vegas Strip. The police note footage showing Walker entering Fadal's vehicle without force, but the authorities have yet to report why Walker made the decision and are suggesting he may have been "duped" into believing he was safe.
June 24, 2008
Las Vegas police said they have made an arrest in the robbery and beating case involving Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker, according to ESPN. Las Vegas police Lt. Clinton Nichols said Tuesday that 30-year-old Arfat Fadel is suspected of multiple felonies, including kidnapping and robbery.

Our View:Fadel was arrested Friday and police are still looking for a second suspect. Nichols said the 29-year-old Walker got into a vehicle with the two men early June 16 before he was found beaten and unconscious on a side street near the Las Vegas Strip. Walker told police $3,000 in cash and about $100,000 in jewelry were taken. Walker suffered a moderate concussion and significant facial injuries. He was treated at a Las Vegas hospital and released last Wednesday.
June 22, 2008
We recently reported receiver Javon Walker was beaten and robbed in Las Vegas, and we followed with a ProFootballTalk.com review of an interview Walker gave submitting his own account of what happened (stating his hotel room was ambushed, he was beaten unconscience, and we dragged to the street). Now PFT reports the authorities in Vegas have reviewed a plethora of surveillance tapes and find no evidence supporting Walker's story.

Our View:According to Norm Clarke of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, police have revealed they possess video of Walker getting into a car under his own power, not being dragged or coerced by force. Walker was found at 7:30 a.m. local time, unconscious in a pool of blood. He had left the Body English night club at 3:00 a.m. after a night of spraying champagne.
June 19, 2008
The Raiders expect Javon Walker to be ready for training camp when he recovers from his injuries sustained in a robbery over the weekend, according to the Contra Costa Times. Coach Lane Kiffin said, "The info that I have is he's going to be fine. Training camp won't be an issue. But until our guys look at him, I don't want to say the extent of Walker's injuries."

Our View:Walker has a poor track record with durability and staying healthy, and he will remain an injury risk as a fantasy prospect.
June 18, 2008
Per head coach Lane Kiffin, wide receiver Javon Walker is supposed to arrive in Alameda and be examined by the team’s medical staff Wednesday night and be with the team Thursday on the final day of organized team activities, according to the Oakland Tribune. Kiffin declined to get into specifics regarding Walker’s condition, but did say, “The information I have at this point is he’s going to be fine. Training camp won’t even be an issue.”

Our View:It is not clear whether Walker suffered an orbital fracture, as has been reported. The Raiders were advised that Walker will make a full recovery in the near future and resume his preparation for the 2008 NFL season.
June 18, 2008
Javon Walker was released from the hospital on Wednesday, and he issues a statement. The note thanked fans for their prayers and support, according to the AP. Walker is "recovering in a private environment." He suffered a moderate concussion and "significant" facial injuries when he was attacked in Las Vegas on Monday morning.

Our View:Previous reports noted that Walker fractured an orbital bone. We're still waiting for more, concrete news about what happened and why. Javon was already carrying right knee concerns heading into this fantasy season, and now he has another cloud hanging over him.
June 17, 2008
Javon Walker has spoken on his recent troubles and it may lead to more concerns than relief, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View:According to Talk, Walker has granted an exclusive interview with TheDirty.com in which he states that three men knocked on his hotel door at 5:30am with guns. Walker claims he was beaten unconscious and must have been taken from the room and dumped in the street. As Talk has noted (and others will follow), there are cameras everywhere in Vegas, especially in ritzy hotels like the one Walker was certainly staying at. If the police are unable to find footage backing his story, then Walker may have more issues than we currently believe.
June 17, 2008
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker could be released from the hospital Tuesday, a day after he was beaten, robbed and left unconscious on a Las Vegas street after a night of partying, according to the Associated Press. A large amount of cash and some jewelry were taken from Walker, who suffered “significant injuries,” police said.

Our View:Police Lt. Clinton Nichols said detectives are retracing Walker’s activities in the hours before he was found injured Monday morning on a street off the Las Vegas Strip. Nichols said he believed Walker would be released after a 24-hour stay at the hospital. A hospital spokesman said he had no immediate information about Walker’s condition.
June 16, 2008
Updating an earlier report, Javon Walker was apparently the victim of a robbery on Sunday night that left him injured and unconscious when he was found on the street in Las Vegas on Monday morning, this according to the Associated Press.

Our View:We still have little in the way of details to go on, but we'll continue to monitor the situation and report any developments as they are learned.
June 16, 2008
Javon Walker was found unconscious on the street with a fractured orbital bone in Las Vegas, according to Fox News 5. Just how Walker ended up injured is not yet known. On Sunday night Walker was seen at Tryst at the Wynn hotel having a huge party that included 15 bottles of Dom Perignon.

Our View:Further details will be forthcoming as soon as we are made aware of the details of this situation, bu the good news is that he is resting in fair condition.
June 3, 2008
Javon Walker still has a long way to go on his conditioning, according to ESPN.com. The wideout has had trouble getting separation from defenders during OTAs.

Our View:Walker is coming back from microfracture surgery on his right knee. He had surgery to repair a torn ACL in the same knee back in 2005. Will he ever regain that burst that allowed him to post a 1,382-yard, 12-TD campaign? That's very unlikely, but the Raiders would probably be thrilled with 1,000 yards and eight TDs.
May 17, 2008
Javon Walker needs to work on his conditioning, according to the Contra Costa Times. Drew Carter outperformed Javon Walker on Thursday during the team OTA.

Our View:Usually news like this isn't significant this early in the off-season, but Walker is coming off another injury plagued season and has chronic knee problems. Walker will remain a fantasy risk until he proves he has regained his explosive edge in Oakland.
May 16, 2008
Javon Walker compared JaMarcus Russell to Brett Favre, according to silverandblackpride.com. Walker said, "Russell has a good arm. I've been fortunate enough in my career to play with a quarterback who had a strong arm (Favre), and that's something I developed into, catching a fast ball. He's one of those guys that has that ball. The more and more we work together, the better that we're going to be."

Our View:Walker will have a chance to make a strong impact in Oakland, but it remains to be seen if he can stay healthy for a full 16 games. Walker was reduced to 26 receptions for 287 yards over seven games (with Denver) in 2007 due to various injuries.
April 24, 2008
Javon Walker (knee) should be at 100% by the time that the team's first mini-camp roles around, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View:Walker was signed to a huge contract this off-season and the team is putting a lot of eggs in the Walker basket this season.
March 4, 2008
Javon Walker , recently released by the Denver Broncos, has reached terms with the Oakland Raiders, according to ESPN. Michael Smith reports Walker will sign a deal for six years worth $55 million with over $16 million in guarantees, paying Walker approximately $27 million over the first three years.
March 4, 2008
The Dallas Cowboys could be the frontrunners in the Javon Walker sweepstakes, according to the San Antonio Express News. The report states that Walker is a big fan of current Dallas wide receivers coach, Ray Sherman, who coached him in Green Bay – helping the free agent receiver to make the Pro Bowl. Walker might not provide the wow factor that owner Jerry Jones is looking for, but he has twice compiled 1,000-yard seasons during his career. If healthy, Walker could be a nice complimentary receiver on the other side of Terrell Owens.
March 4, 2008
Javon Walker might be on the Philadelphia Eagles radar after missing out on Randy Moss, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Walker, 29, had the Eagles' interest in 2006 before being traded from Green Bay to Denver. He caught 69 passes for 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns in his first season with the Broncos in 2006, but was a major disappointment last year missing eight games due to his problematic right knee. There are other rumors circulating that every team in the NFC East has interest in Walker.
February 29, 2008
The Denver Broncos have released veteran wide receiver Javon Walker, according to the Dallas Morning News. Walker was due $5.4 million in bonuses in 2008, with the first installment to be paid early next week. No one was going to pay that and, by all appearances, the lack of a suitable trade partner prompted the team to make the move now. There are already rumors swirling that Dallas will make a move on Walker, in an attempt to pair him up with Terrell Owens.
February 25, 2008
The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly working on a deal that would bring Denver WR Javon Walker into the fold, according to ProFootballTalk.com. Walker, who has battled leg injuries the past three years, missed most of the 2005 season, and was ineffective last year due to multiple surgeries on his knee. Signing Walker, and teaming him with Terrell Owens, could create an exciting one-two punch in Dallas. But the move would not be without risk, given Walker’s past injury history.
February 21, 2008
Javon Walker may have a new home as the Broncos and Bucs are apparently in talks about the disgruntled wide receiver according to the St. Petersberg Times. Walker was held to just 26 receptions and 287 yards last season because of the injured knee that hampered him, and with a $5.4 million roster bonus due on March 4th, the Broncos figure to press the trade market to off-load this former star.
February 16, 2008
The Broncos have a little over three weeks to make a decision regarding Javon Walker. He has a roster bonus of $5.4 million due on March 4, the Denver Post confirms.
February 8, 2008
Javon Walker is expected to be traded or released by the Broncos within the next month, according to the Denver Post. The aging veteran battled injuries last season, while Brandon Marshall and Brandon Stokley made Walker expendable. It looks like his tenure with the Broncos may be over.
January 11, 2008
Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan tells the Denver Post that Javon Walker could need to undergo microfracture surgery on his right knee within the next two-to-four years.
January 9, 2008
Javon Walker said a week ago that he wanted to leave Denver, but he's now reversed course and says he wants to stay with the Broncos. Walker described his comments as "frustration coming out," and he issued an apology this week.
