T.J. Duckett had just five carries for five yards Sunday, but he made them count with a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns.

Our View:T.J. is obviously capable of games like this, but they're impossible to predict, making him a big risk for fantasy owners.

T.J. Duckett, coming off a huge game (79 yards, two scores), will almost certainly lose touches in the club's next game with the expected return of Maurice Morris, according to The Seattle Times. "There is probably a place for Duckett," HC Mike Holmgren said. "Late in the game, some time, there's a place..."

Our View:The club will likely return to the original plan of using Maurice Morris and Julius Jones with Duckett picking up the scraps and possibly some work around the goalline. Now might make a great time to try and move Duckett to an owner who doesn't follow the news very closely.

T.J. Duckett rushed the ball 19 times for 79 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday against the Rams.

Our View:It's unlikely Duckett will have as many touches in any other game this season but he is proving to be an effective goal-line back, thus he holds value in deeper leagues. However, Maurice Morris will absorb more carries when he returns and Duckett may be a good sell-high candidate.

With the Seahawks starting running back Maurice Morris out with an injury, T.J. Duckett will move to the back-up role behind Julius Jones, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren said that Jones and Duckett will not split time in the backfield but Duckett will see some carries.

T.J. Duckett finally showed something, running the ball six times for 46 yards in his team's 18-17 loss to the Chargers in their preseason contest on Monday.

Our View:Duckett had not done much during the preseason, leading to whispers that he could be cut before the season started. But Monday's performance could be enough to keep that from happening.
August 3, 2008
T.J. Duckett may or may not even make the Seahawks this season, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:The report says that Duckett will likely make the team if they keep five backs, but if they cut back to four then rookie Owen Schmidt would likely be kept over Duckett.

Head coach Mike Holmgren doesn't seem to know what to do with running back T.J. Duckett, the Tacoma News Tribune reports. Multiple sources have told the paper that Duckett seems "especially slow" thus far. Julius Jones and Maurice Morris are atop the halfback depth chart, and Leonard Weaver is the No. 1 fullback.

Our View:Holmgren may be realizing why Duckett is on his fourth team in as many seasons. T.J. seems to be built for goal line work - or competitive eating contests - but it doesn't sound like the Seahawks want to use him in short-yardage situations, yet.

Running back T.J. Duckett joins Seattle this season (after signing a contract guaranteed to pay him $4 million) as part of an offseason overhaul to a backfield that has struggled to convert short-yardage rushing opportunities over the past two years. It's a role that many have already penciled Duckett into. Not so fast, though, according head coach Mike Holmgren and the Seattle Times. "There are some teams that take a big, strong pile-driving guy and I guess they call him a short-yardage back," Holmgren said. "I have never done that. In fact, when I have done that it hasn't worked very well."

Our View:Duckett has only carried the ball more than 130 times once in six career seasons in the league. We view him as a possible change-of-pace option to Julius Jones, who is a better fit in the offense due to his pass catching abilities. With Maurice Morris also rumored to be in the mix, the early returns have the Seattle running back situation looking like a three-headed committee scenario.

T.J. Duckett, who recently signed with the Seattle Seahawks, received a five-year deal worth $17 million, according to seattlepi.com. There was some give and take in these negotiations, Duckett will only receive $1 million in base salary for 2008, but he did secure a $4 million signing bonus. The actual deal (not including the back-loaded incentives) is three years for $7.5 million. Duckett will join Shaun Alexander and Maurice Morris in the Seattle backfield, and the team is rumored to be pondering the selection of a running back in the 2008 NFL draft.
March 4, 2008
As expected, T.J. Duckett has agreed join the Seahawks as a free agent, according to the AP. He signed a five-year contract on Tuesday, though financial details weren't released. He'll see some action at the goal line in 2008, but that's about all you can expect from him.

T.J. Duckett is expected to sign a contract with the Seattle Seahawks in the near future, according to mlive.com. Duckett has bounced around the league, but he his a bulldozer type who could help Seattle convert some short yardage situations on third down and at the goal line.
