Brett Favre was apparently "heavily involved" in the Vikings' recruiting process for LaDainian Tomlinson last week, according to Newsday.

Our View:We obviously now know that LT opted for the Jets, though news of Favre's involvement in the recruiting process would seem to indicate that Favre has invested himself in Minnesota's future. Favre hasn't come out and said anything concrete on his plans for next season, though news like this would suggest that he's leaning toward playing another year.

Brett Favre is scheduled to appear on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View:However, he is not expected to shed much light on his plans for 2010. Maybe he will share his opinion on the whole Jay/Conan O'Brien debacle, however. After all, the two men share an affinity for not retiring when they say they are going to.

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson wants quarterback Brett Favre to return to the Vikings for not just one season, but two, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:It sounds like just about every Vikings player and fan wants Favre to return, and you should expect him to announce that he is doing so - in late August.
February 26, 2010
While speaking at the NFL combine on Friday, Vikings head coach Brad Childress said that his team will not set a deadline for Brett Favre as to when he must decide whether or not he'll play in 2010, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:The Vikings are willing to give Favre as much time as he wants to make a decision, and you can bet that Favre will take Minnesota up on their offer and delay his decision for as long as possible. A number of people, including ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter and Vikings linebacker Ben Leber, have stated that they believe Favre will be back, though only Brett can know what is truly going on in that head of his.
February 23, 2010
Vikings linebacker Ben Leber told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that he has a gut feeling Brett Favre will return next season. "We would love to have the guy back," Leber said. "I think my gut feeling is that he is going to come back. I hope my gut is right. I think a respectable timetable is to let us know as early as possible."

Our View:ESPN's NFL insider Adam Schefter too stated a few weeks back that he believes Favre will be back. It remains to be seen what Favre will decide and when he'll make that decision, but it's clear that the Vikings would like the answers to those two questions to be "Yes" and "As soon as possible".
February 14, 2010
Vikings' vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman has stated that Minnesota would love to have Brett Favre back next season, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. "I know the organization, from our ownership, from our coaches and I think from our fans out there, we'd love to have Brett Favre back for another year and see if we can make another run at this."

Our View:This news should not come as any sort of surprise, though it is worth noting that Favre is wanted back by his team for the first time in three years, as that was not the case when he parted ways with the Packers and Jets. There's been little word yet on what Favre plans to decide and when he plans to announce his decision.
February 13, 2010
Brett Favre has still yet to comment on his plans for the 2010 season, according to the St. Paul Pioneer-Press.

Our View:But once he does, expect Rachel Nichols and ESPN to be camped out on his front lawn. Don't worry, you won't miss it if he says anything.
February 8, 2010
ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted on Monday morning that his guess is that Brett Favre will indeed play again next season.

Our View:Let's not go too overboard with this bit of news; after all, it's just one guess, from one person. Still, Schefter is arguably the most respected NFL insider in the business right now, and thus his opinion is worth noting. Expect to hear plenty more on Favre's situation throughout the offseason.
February 7, 2010
According to the St. Paul Pioneer-Press, the Vikings would like to know Brett Favre's plans for 2010 by March 5. That is the day teams can start making offseason trades, and the Vikes want to be able to explore other options if Favre is not returning.

Our View:Get in line, Minnesota. The following people would also like to know Favre's plans soon, if possible: all of his fans, every ESPN employee, Favre's children, Favre's own inner-consciousness. The problem is, there is almost no way that is going to happen. Gear up.

Brett Favre's brother, Scott, has told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that Brett injured both of his wrists, both of his ankles, a leg and suffered a bruised head in the Vikings loss to the Saints last Sunday. He also says he does not believe Brett will retire because of his "special bond" with Minnesota's receiving corps.

Our View:What Scott likely meant to say was that Brett won't "stay" retired, since he will almost certainly retire at least once this offseason. If Favre's brother is being quoted before the Super Bowl is even here, it's clear that this is going to be a long, winding few months of Favre rumor-mania.
January 26, 2010
Vikings head coach Brad Childress wouldn't be surprised "one way or the other" by what Brett Favre decides about his future this offseason, according to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:Favre has already deemed it unlikely that he will return, but then again, he's seemingly done that every season since 1994. As his wounds begin to heal this offseason, expect him to go from unlikely to return, to likely.
January 26, 2010
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Vikings players are lobbying for Brett Favre to return for another season, regardless of whether or not he misses training camp.

Our View:The article appears rather genuine as it has theme-supporting quotes from Bernard Berrian, Bryant McKinnie and Percy Harvin, among others. Either way, Favre probably could care less about these guys. If Favre's coming back, he's coming back for Favre...and another $10-plus million.
January 25, 2010
Brett Favre will not participate in the Pro Bowl due to the ankle injury he suffered in Sunday's loss at New Orleans in the NFC title game, according to NFL.com.

Our View:Tony Romo will take his spot on the NFC squad. There is also belief that Favre may have played his last game in the NFL, but he is yet to make a decision.
January 25, 2010
Brett Favre told ESPN's Ed Werder that it's highly unlikely he'll play again, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View:Sounds a bit familiar, doesn't it? While we clearly will not know for some time whether Favre will or will not actually be back, it'd still probably be best if keeper league owners of the future Hall of Famer started to think about a backup plan should Favre finally call it quits.
January 24, 2010
Brett Favre doesn't anticipate his decision to retire or keep playing will take months, according to the Journal Sentinel. "I wouldn't say months. I know people are rolling their eyes or will roll their eyes. In a situation like this, I really don't want to make a decision right now based only on what's happened," Favre said after the game.

Our View:He is signed for next season but speculation on his return will begin immediately and extend profanely and indefinitely. God willing, he'll stick to his initial word this time around.
January 24, 2010
Brett Favre completed 28 of 46 passes for 310 yards and a touchdown but the gunslinger threw two critical interceptions and lost a fumble as the Vikings fell 31-28 to the Saints.

Our View:The Vikings were marching into field goal range as the clock was winding down but Favre threw an interception and the game eventually went into overtime. He is signed for next season but speculation on his return will begin immediately and extend profanely and indefinitely.
January 24, 2010
Brett Favre was helped off the field after taking a hit to his left ankle on an interception in the third quarter. He was re-taped and appears ready to play.

Our View:Favre certainly has a flare for the dramatic. The Saints have hit the 40-year-old 11 times today. We'll see whether or not the injury will plague his play going forward.
January 24, 2010
In a motivational (?) ploy, the Vikings will have Larry Platt, aka the "Pants on the Ground" guy from a recent episode of "American Idol," on the sidelines with the team during the NFC Championship game on Sunday, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View:He also recently spoke to the team. Somehow, we think New Orleans' motivational speaker for this week's game, NFL Hall-of-Famer Ronnie Lott, was more inspiring and insightful.
January 17, 2010
Brett Favre was magnificent as he helped the Vikings advance to their first NFC Championship Game since 2001 on Sunday, completing 15-of-24 passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns in Minnesota's convincing 34-3 win over Dallas.

Our View:Next Sunday in New Orleans will be Favre's second NFC Championship Game appearance in the past three seasons. Playing in the climate controlled Superdome, it should go much better than his dismal 2008 performance in Green Bay against the Giants.
January 17, 2010
In a stunning annoucement, Brett Favre has told ESPN that he will consider retirement this offseason.

Our View:As he has done every offseason since 1947. Expect to have an answer about his fate by next August at the earliest.
January 15, 2010
Despite recently saying he would be "shocked" if he and the Vikings were not holding their annual weekly press conference next week, Brett Favre insists that he is not guaranteeing a Minnesota victory over Dallas this weekend, according to the St. Paul Pioneer-Press.

Our View:Vikings fans can rest easy, as the Cowboys now no longer have any motivation to win this weekend. Kidding aside, these teams' Divisional playoff match will be decided on the playing field, not in front of a microphone.
January 3, 2010
Brett Favre was pulled in third quarter of Sunday's blowout of the Vikings. He finished the game 25-of-31 passes for 316 yards and four touchdowns.

Our View:With an Eagles loss to the Cowboys later today, the Vikings can secure a first round bye. Obviously, Favre's owners cannot be too upset with his removal from the game as he did some lethal damage through three quarters.
