Chris Simms has been released by Denver, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:Kyle Orton is still the starter in Denver, and Brady Quinn was just brought in to compete with Tom Brandstater for the backup gig, leaving Simms as the odd man out. Simms has the talent to compete for a backup gig somewhere, though his disagreements with coaches in the past could hurt his cause at landing work.

After completing 2-of-4 passes for ten yards on Sunday, Chris Simms was pulled in favor of the injured Kyle Orton.

Our View:Simms just doesn't have the look of an NFL quarterback anymore. So much so, Broncos coach Josh McDaniels was willing to gamble with an immobile and aching Orton. Even if he were to garner a start down the stretch because of injury to Orton, he is not an acceptable fantasy fill-in.

Chris Simms completed three-of-13 passes for 13 yards, no scores, and one interception in the Week 10 loss to the Redskins. He played the entire second half.

Our View:Let's give him a break. Simms hasn't taken a meaningful snap in an NFL regular season game since Week 3 of the 2006 campaign. If Kyle Orton's ankle injury lingers, Simms could start in Week 11. Gulp.

Chris Simms has healed quicker than expected from his ankle injury and he is expected to return to practice on Sunday, according to the Denver Post. Simms was projected to miss the first few weeks of the season with the injury.

Our View:The Broncos are just having a light practice today, but Simms is expected to take snaps and work with the team. The real test will come Tuesday, when the team as an extended practice at full speed. We will know more about his condition after that session.

Adam Schefter is reporting on his Twitter page that Broncos' quarterback Chris Simms has a high ankle sprain and is expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks. Simms suffered the injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Seahawks.

Our View:It looks like the Broncos will have to make a decision on what to do about their backup quarterback situation, because they can't go with Tom Brandstater as their only option while Simms is out. Look for the team to bring in a quarterback, and what was already a weakness for the team is now looking like a disaster.
