Cornerback Will Allen is being sued by his former sports agency, which alleges that the player failed to make payment on a settlement agreement made earlier this year, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:According to the complaint, filed June 17 in the Circuit Court of Broward County, Allen did not pay agent Tom Condon and his agency commissions due on the salary, signing bonus and incentive bonuses for the four-year contract Allen signed with the Dolphins in March of 2006.

Miami cornerback Will Allen asserts the incidents of legal concern over recent weeks are "a closed matter," according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:Allen was questioned last month in connection with an altercation in a parking lot outside of a Bed Bath & Beyond, and further investigations led to allegations that Allen pulled a gun on a man during an argument over a gambling debt. That led to rumors that Allen may be involved in an illegal gambling ring and could be implicated as part of a federal investigation as a financial investor in the ring. While Allen wants to stop answering questions and says this is no big deal, the Davie Police Department has told reporters the investigation is ongoing and is not likely to be completed until July or August. At that time, all findings will be sent to the State's Attorney who will ultimately decide if the police should press charges.

NFL security had Miami Dolphins cornerback Will Allen on its radar before he allegedly pulled a gun on a man in a dispute over money May 16 in Davie, according to the Palm Beach Post. The NFL had been alerted when a suspicious Detroit bank told the league of Allen's involvement in a large amount of money being wired to South Florida.

Our View: The Davie Police Department still is investigating the confrontation. The alleged victim said the argument was over money loaned to Allen to cover gambling debts; Allen contends the money was for an investment. Regardless of whether Allen is found guilty of a crime, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell could punish him if the league determines the debts were from gambling.

Will Allen could face a potential firearm charge for allegedly pulling a gun on someone over a money dispute, but even if a charge isn't filed, Allen could potentially face punishment from the NFL, anyway, according to the Palm Beach Post. According to the alleged victim, the money was given to Allen to cover gambling debts. Allen contends the money was for an investment. If the league determines the money was for a gambling debt, a suspension for Allen would be likely.

Our View:We wouldn't rule out Bill Parcells simply cutting Allen if he finds that the cornerback is in the wrong here. We'll keep you posted on this issue as more details emerge.

Both the Palm Beach Post and the Sun-Sentinel are reporting that Will Allen may have been involved in a money dispute that might have resulted in Allen pulling a gun on somebody in the parking lot of a Bed, Bath & Beyond. The investigation by the Davie Police Department is still ongoing and no charges have been filed.

Our View:The premise of this report is that there was a dispute over money in the parking lot. A report on local TV says that Allen had to borrow money to pay gambling debts. Then when the lender demanded repayment, Allen pulled a gun on him.
