Jets head coach Eric Mangini announced that Jay Feely will once again be the Jets kicker in Week 6, according to CBSSportsline.com.

Our View:Mike Nugent continues to struggle with a hip injury and will be out again this week. Feely has filled in nicely connecting on 4-of-6 field goal attempts and is perfect on extra points.

Jay Feely will remain the Jets kicker Week 3 as the the team's regular kicker, Mike Nugent, remains out with a quad injury, according to the New York Post.

Our View:Feely was 1-for-2 in his field goal attempts, missing a makable 31-yard attempt. He is a decent fantasy option, especially after how good he was last season.
September 10, 2008
The Jets have officially added place-kicker Jay Feely to their active roster in case current kicker, Mike Nugent, can't go, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:If Mike Nugent can't go this weekend Feely could be a good option. In 2007, Feely was 21-for-23 and his only misses came outside the 40-yard line.

The Jets have signed kicker Jay Feely , formerly of the Chiefs, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:The Jets Week 1 starter, Mike Nugent, is believed to have pulled a thigh muscle in Week 1 and will be sidelined indefinitely.

The Jets are auditioning placekickers Jay Feely, Dave Rayner, and Aaron Elling, according to NFL.com.

Our View:Mike Nugent is battling a thigh injury, and the Jets are looking for insurance at the position.

Free agent kicker Jay Feely tried out with the Buccaneers Monday, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Our View:The team is looking for insurance in case Matt Bryant struggles. Feely is familiar with Florida as he is a former member of the Dolphins.

As you may have expected, Glenn Schwartzman, the agent for kicker Jay Feely, is none too happy that his client was released after just a single day, according to the Kansas City Star. “We’re shocked, baffled, disappointed. While no one promised him the job, we were under the impression he would be given a better opportunity to win it. ... It makes no sense to make a decision about Jay without letting him kick in the preseason game. Had we known he wasn’t even going to get that chance, we never would have signed with the Chiefs," Schwartzman said.

Our View:Apparently, Feely was not given much of a chance to warm up, and made just 10 of 15 field goal attempts while the other kickers, Nick Novak and Connor Barth, had better days. If the Chiefs were going to only give Feely one day, it would have made better sense to have him come in for a tryout before signing him.
August 26, 2008
The Chiefs released Jay Feely Tuesday, one day after signing him.

Our View:It appears that the team decided it was content after all with Nick Novak and Connor Barth vying for the starting job.
August 25, 2008
The Kansas City Chiefs have signed veteran kicker Jay Feely, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:Nick Novak and Connor Barth were battling it out for place-kicking duties, but neither had been terribly impressive. Feely would make for a solid kicker in fantasy leagues, though the Chiefs may have a difficult time moving the ball down the field, which could limit his opportunities.
August 13, 2008
The KC Star indicates that the Chiefs are interested in kicker Jay Feely, who was recently released by the Dolphins.

Our View:Nick Novak and Connor Barth have fared well on field goal attempts during camp, but the team is not content with depending on a kicker with limited NFL experience. Feely has plenty of experience, as he kicked for the Falcons, Giants, and the aforementioned Dolphins. Feely was accurate in 2007, as he hit 21-of-23 field goal attempts.

Following up on an earlier report, Jay Feely was in fact released by the Dolphins, this according to the Orlando Sun-Sentinel. "The decision was based purely on numbers and performance, and (Dan) Carpenter has outperformed him right now," said coach Tony Sparano. "That's the bottom line. We charted a ton of categories with the kickers and Carpenter has outperformed him."

Our View:Dan Carpenter will begin the season as the Dolphins place kicker. His fantasy value is directly related to the Miami offense. 'Nuff said.
August 12, 2008
The Dolphins will release Jay Feely, according to Profootballtalk.com.

Our View:Feely's kicking days in Miami are now over. He will have to earn a spot kicking for another team (Denver? Kansas City?) if he wants to resume his football career. Undrafted rookie Dan Carpenter will take over the kicking duties in South Beach.
August 6, 2008
Kicker Jay Feely missed a second straight day of practice on Wednesday due to an undisclosed injury, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. He was seen riding a stationary bike.

Our View:Whatever it is, Feely's injury sounds minor. Rookie Dan Carpenter has a chance to take advantage in the reportedly open competition.
June 5, 2008
Bill Parcells stated that Jay Feely will have to compete for the kicking job in Miami this season, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:Parcells isn't high on Feely, and the team signed Dave Rayner back in March to challenge him for the placekicking job. Feely has been inconsistent over his career, but did have a strong 2007 campaign as he converted 21-of-23 field goal opportunities.
March 12, 2008
The Miami Dolphins recently signed kicker Dave Rayner, but he isn’t expected to replace incumbent Jay Feely, according to the Miami Herald. Rayner has been brought onboard for his ability to boot the ball deep into the end zone on kickoffs. Feely converted 21-of-23 field goal opportunities last year, good for a 91.3% clip.
