According to the Twitter page of Giants' beat writer Ralph Vacchiano, the team has no plans to replace struggling kicker Lawrence Tynes. Tynes missed two short field goals in the team's win on Sunday.

Our View:Tynes was pretty good up until this week, but in the NFL sometimes one bad week is enough for a kicker to lose his job. The Giants are sticking with Tynes for now, but if he struggles again he will likely be on his way out.

Kicker Lawrence Tynes missed a 21-yard field goal in the Week 3 win over the Bucs. He shanked a 29-yard try in Week 2. "I wish I had an answer," Tynes tells the Newark Star-Ledger. "I didn't kick good all week. I didn't kick good in pregame and I didn't kick good in the game. It was pretty much just a bad week all around for me."

Our View:Tynes led all kickers with 26 points through two games, but we can't imagine that Tom Coughlin will be pleased with him after these two short-range misses. We'll see if the Giants bring in any kickers for tryouts this week.

Lawrence Tynes hit 4-of-5 field goals, including a last second game-winner as the Giants defeated the Cowboys 33-31. He hit from 30, 28, 36, and 37 yards while missing from 29.

Our View:Tynes was reliable tonight and should continue to be a strong play this season. The Giants offense is performing above expectations and Tynes owners will benefit.

The Giants will go with Lawrence Tynes as their placekicker in 2009, and part ways with John Carney, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View:Carney enjoyed a solid season with New York in 2008, but will turn 45 this year, and has lost distance on his kickoffs.

The AP reports that the Giants may activate Lawrence Tynes for Sunday's game against the Eagles. John Carney would still handle field goal duties, but Tynes would kickoff. Tynes said Coughlin has not indicated that he will play, so he is not optimistic. He is ready though. “I would like to contribute in the playoffs, even if it is just kicking off,” Tynes said.

Our View:Carney's kickoffs continue to get shorter. The Giants are hoping that perhaps Tynes' kicks would help neutralize some of the Eagles' effective return game.
