The San Francisco Chronicle reports that coach Mike Nolan has said the Mark Roman will keep his starting job despite a terrible game in New Orleans in Week 4.

Our View:Roman is not a factor in fantasy leagues unless your players are playing San Francisco.
August 26, 2008
Coach Mike Nolan has indicated that Mark Roman has likely held off Dashon Goldson for the starting gig at free safety, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:The veteran looks to start, but won't be fantasy worthy. He only averages 60.5 tackles over his two campaigns with the 49ers.
August 6, 2008
Mark Roman has returned to practice, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. He participated in individual drills after being out since July 28.

Our View:He should hold his spot as the 49ers' starting free safety. He is in competition with Dashon Goldston for the job. Neither player should be fantasy worthy.
June 1, 2008
Starting free safety Mark Roman, who underwent minor shoulder surgery in mid-May, is expected to miss the first week of organized team activities, this according to Rototimes sources.

Our View:The 49ers have 12 organized team activities scheduled. The final practice on June 20 before reporting for training camp in late July. Roman is expected to take part in the final stages of the June activities.
May 27, 2008
Mark Roman underwent minor elbow surgery to clean out loose bodies 10 days ago, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Our View:He will be held back during the first week of upcoming OTA, but will be ready for training camp. Dashon Goldson will likely work with the starters while Roman is out, but Roman should not be in jeopardy of losing his free safety job.
