January 20, 2010 Deuce McAllister has decided to retire and has been placed on the Saints' reserve/retired list, according to the Our View:McAllister recently joined the Saints roster to serve as an honorary captain in the team's win over Arizona, but he simply doesn't have the speed or agility to make it on the football field any longer. The two-time Pro Bowler will finish as the Saints' all-time leading rusher with 6,096 yards on the ground. |

His out-of-nowhere signing on Friday raised questions about Pierre Thomas' injured ribs, but the fact that McAllister will not be active should allay those fears. |

As far as inspirational ploys go, signing a beloved former running back to serve as an honorary captain for one of the biggest games in team history isn't too shabby. |
