Deuce McAllister has decided to retire and has been placed on the Saints' reserve/retired list, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:McAllister recently joined the Saints roster to serve as an honorary captain in the team's win over Arizona, but he simply doesn't have the speed or agility to make it on the football field any longer. The two-time Pro Bowler will finish as the Saints' all-time leading rusher with 6,096 yards on the ground.

As expected, recently re-signed Saints running back Deuce McAllister will not play against the Cardinals on Saturday, according to ESPN.

Our View:He will serve as the team's honorary captain, however. His out-of-nowhere signing on Friday raised questions about Pierre Thomas' injured ribs, but the fact that McAllister will not be active should allay those fears.

Recently re-signed running back Deuce McAllister is not expected to play on Saturday against the Cardinals in New Orleans' Divisional round playoff game, according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:The move looks to be little more than an inspirational ploy on behalf of the recently struggling Saints. As far as inspirational ploys go, signing a beloved former running back to serve as an honorary captain for one of the biggest games in team history isn't too shabby.

The Saints have officially re-signed running back Deuce McAllister, according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:A move this curious and out-of-nowhere can only mean one thing: the Saints are desperate for depth at running back because of Pierre Thomas' rib injury. That has not been officially reported as of yet, but there is little other possible explanation for New Orleans deciding to relive the past at such a crucial point in their season. Stay tuned.

In a puzzling move, the Saints appear ready to re-sign former New Orleans running back Deuce McAllister, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View:He will reportedly be active for the team's Divisional round playoff match-up with the Cardinals on Saturday. This move doesn't speak well to Pierre Thomas' injury status, since if his ribs were mostly healthy there would be no need for New Orleans to bring McAllister aboard. Stay tuned.
