The Denver Broncos released running back Travis Henry in June before they found out that he was facing a one-year suspension for another failed drug test, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:Per a report from Mike Klis, an unnamed team official notes the Broncos had no knowledge of a failed test, but instead dumped Henry after he missed league-mandated treatment sessions. He went on to suggest coach Mike Shanahan didn't care for his decision to skip the team's OTAs as well, thus the decision to release Henry was based on those events rather than knowledge of a failed drug test. Klis reports that in addition to testing positive in May, Henry missed three drug tests after winning his appeal of a positive test last year. The league reserves the right to consider a missed test to be a positive test. With that in mind, it is fair to say his tenure in the NFL has likey come to an end.

Updating a previous report, former Denver Broncos running back Travis Henry tested positive for marijuana use just prior to being released by the team last month, according to MyFoxColorado.com. The Broncos declined to comment on whether Henry’s release was related to the drug test.

Our View:Henry, 29, was released by the Broncos on June 2 just one year into a five-year, $22.5 million deal. At the time, head coach Mike Shanahan cited a lack of commitment.

A highly placed NFL source says former Denver Broncos running back Travis Henry has tested positive again for marijuana, according to MyFoxColorado.com. FOX 31 Sports reporter Josina Anderson learned about the positive test late Thursday night.

Our View:This information reportedly came from the same source that broke news of failed drug tests by both Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams and Henry to FOX 31 in the past. Henry faces a possible one-year suspension, if this report is true.

Running back Travis Henry is not getting a lot of love on the free agent market, according to Adam Schefter of NFL.com. With a strict discipline policy in place, Henry is seen as too big a risk to rely on.

Our View:Henry will turn 30 during the middle of the NFL season, the age when running backs hit their traditional wall. With that in mind along with his other problems, it may take a team running into injury problems in training camp for him to get an offer.

Travis Henry has been released by the Broncos, according to the AP. Coach Mike Shanahan said, "We did not feel his commitment to the Broncos was enough to warrant a spot on this football team. Although Travis has the ability to be one of the top running backs in the NFL, we have to make decisions that are in the best interests of our organization and its goal of winning a Super Bowl."

Our View:He had trouble staying healthy, and he was currently sidelined by a strained hamstring. Henry has only played a full-16 game slate once in his career, but should find work with another club, and could even challenge for a starting spot with a little luck.
