Thomas Jones spoke out on Monday about his lack of playing time during the Jets’ Week 5 loss. “Most feature backs in this league, they get the ball 20 or 25 times a game,” Jones told Newsday. “Just by getting the ball that many times, you get a feel for what the defense is doing and you can get a feel for how the offensive line is blocking. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to do that the last couple of weeks.”

Thomas Jones has taken full reps the last two days, suggesting that his calf injury is no longer an issue. He should be in for a productive day Sunday against a suspect Buffalo run defense.

As expected, Thomas Jones was active and started in Week 1. That was the good news. The bad news was that he mustered just 42 yards and no scores. The Jets spent most of the game trying to catch up to the Pats, so Jones only had 14 carries. Things will get better for Jones as he gets healthier and has better matchups.

Jets running back Thomas Jones is listed as questionable on the injury report with his calf injury. He is expected to play Sunday against the Patriots, but he could be limited in his role do to the practice time he has missed, according to ESPN.

Jets running back Thomas Jones has been practicing this week for the first time since suffering a calf injury August 12. "I feel a lot better than I felt the past couple of weeks," Jones told the Associated Press Wednesday. "The trainers have done a really good job of trying to get me back on the field," he said. "I'm going to practice today, practice tomorrow and go into the game and see how it goes."

Jets running back Thomas Jones, who has missed about three weeks with a calf injury, is believed to be ready to return to practice, according to the New York Post. If he makes it through a week of practice, you should have no qualms starting him in Week 1.

Thomas Jones is moving much better and is expected to play against the Patriots in Week 1, according to the New York Daily News. He’s still unable to practice, but his rehab program has intensified. Despite the injury, Jones remains a very solid second running back in all formats. He hasn’t practiced for over two weeks, but we’re confident he won’t need much time to shake off the rust once he gets back on the field.

Thomas Jones did exercises Wednesday catching and throwing a football while standing on his injured calf, according to Newsday. He has been battling this calf problem for over a week. Jones won’t play this weekend, but the belief is still that he will be able to suit up for Week 1.

Thomas Jones did not practice on Tuesday as he continues to nurse a right calf injury. According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Jones is not expected to play in this weekend's preseason game against the Giants.

Thomas Jones limped off the practice field after injuring his lower right leg Sunday. Jones was untouched during running back drills when he went to plant his right foot and fell. There was no immediate word on the nature or severity of the injury, but it appeared to be either to his ankle or calf, according to the AP.

Thomas Jones didn't come right out and say he didn't enjoy playing with Rex Grossman in Chicago, but he's happy to be playing with Chad Pennington now. "We have really good chemistry," Jones told the New York Post. "Chad makes the right reads and he hits the open guy. He's smart. He knows the offense really well and he does a good job putting the ball in the right position."

Thomas Jones had an impressive minicamp over the weekend and came out of the proceedings excited about his new offense. “It is different than Chicago,” Jones told the Newark Star-Ledger. “In Chicago, we ran the ball so well we had a certain amount of plays that we ran on. Here, we have so many good players on offense – so many good receivers and very good running backs. There are a lot of weapons on offense, so they have a lot of different ways to get guys the ball.”

It's official, Thomas Jones is heading to the Jets, according to the New York Daily News. He passed his physical on Tuesday and agreed in principle to a long-term deal that reportedly includes a guaranteed $12 million. Jones will be the No. 1 back in Chicago, although Leon Washington will eat into his workload.

The Bears have reached a preliminary agreement to trade Thomas Jones to the Jets for a second round pick, according to the AP. He must pass a physical before the deal is completed. Jones picked up 1,209 rushing yards and six TDs in 297 carries (4.0 YPC) last year and will bolster a Jets running game that ranked 20th in the league in 2006.

Thomas Jones had an outstanding game in the Super Bowl to finish up a terrific run in the playoffs. Jones carried the ball 15 times for 112 yards and caught four passes for 18 yards. He's done everything he can to convince the Bears to bring him back next year rather than turn things over to Cedric Benson.

Thomas Jones carried 19 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns in the NFC Championship Game. Given the way Jones has played in the playoffs as well as the respect he commands among his teammates, the Bears might have trouble pushing him aside for Cedric Benson next season.
