Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt has named Kurt Warner his starting quarterback, according to AZCardinals.com. Warner outperformed Matt Leinart in training camp and the preseason and Whisenhunt said that Warner gives his team the best chance to win the season opener at San Francisco.

Our View:Warner is a top 10 fantasy quarterback in most matchups, and it's worth pointing out that he threw for 484 yards and two touchdowns against the 49ers in Week 12 last season. Warner is a terrific play in Week 1, and it will be interesting to see how long he can keep Leinart on the sidelines.

Kurt Warner has been named the starter for the Cardinals preseason contest this week against the Broncos, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View:Both Warner and Matt Leinart are going to get snaps with the first team offense, so Warner's start does not necessarily mean he will be starting Week 1.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt refuted a story by ESPN that he is naming Kurt Warner the Cardinals' starting quarterback, according to the Arizona Republic. Whisenhunt said, "I haven’t read the paper today or seen the Internet. Do we have a quarterback? It seems like Chris Mortensen is making the decision on our quarterback for our football team. But nothing has changed."

Our View:Matt Leinart threw three interceptions against the Raiders, but his poor performance did not lead Whisenhunt to crowning Warner the starter.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that the Cardinals will name Kurt Warner their starting quarterback to open the season.

Our View:Matt Leinart's agent better get on the phone to Hollywood, and try to secure him some soap opera scripts, because that's where his future is at. This should be construed as good news for receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, who both receive a positive bump with Warner starting.

Our View:Don't read too much into this. Matt Leinart is still going to be the starter, but Whisenhunt wants to get Warner some reps with the first-team offense.
