As expected, Jake Delhomme has agreed to a two-year deal with the Browns, according to Jason LaCanfora's (NFL Network) twitter page.

Our View:Delhomme was brought in to push for the starting gig at quarterback, as the club is not sold on Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson being able to effectively lead the offense in 2010. He failed to impress in his final season with Carolina in 2009, and Cleveland's supporting cast may not be good enough for him to make a good comeback though.

Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted that Jake Delhomme will not be visiting the Saints.

Our View:Delhomme is going to sign a deal with Cleveland however. He would at least have a chance to start with the Browns, while he would only see the field in New Orleans if something happens to Drew Brees.

In addition to the Browns and Saints, free agent quarterback Jake Delhomme will also soon visit with the Broncos and Packers, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:Cleveland would seem to be able to offer him the most playing time, so based on only that, consider them the early favorites for his services.

In addition to the Browns, free agent quarterback Jake Delhomme will soon pay a visit to the Saints, according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Delhomme, a Louisiana native, would be a huge upgrade over current Saints back-up Mark Brunell. You just have to wonder if he would be inclined to sign somewhere where he has a very small chance at playing. Cleveland makes more sense for the former Panthers signal caller.

Jake Delhomme will visit with the Browns on Thursday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:Should the visit go well, Delhomme could potentially be brought in to compete for a starting job with Seneca Wallace and Brady Quinn (if Quinn isn't dealt). Still, Delhomme has seen a rapid decline in his play ever since the playoffs two seasons ago and, at 35 years of age, does not seem suited to start in the NFL at this point in his career.

Jake Delhomme has been officially released by the Carolina Panthers, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:A stunning, if justified, move. While perhaps the franchise's greatest ever player, Delhomme has thrown 30 interceptions since the beginning of the 2008 season, compared to just 23 touchdowns. That does not even include his meltdown five-intercetion game against Arizona in the playoffs two seasons ago. The club looked revitalized at the end of 2009 with Matt Moore at quarterback, and that is who they will go with in 2010.

Jake Delhomme is expected to be released by the Panthers, according to Jay Glazer's twitter page.

Our View:That would leave Matt Moore as Carolina's No. 1 quarterback on the depth chart, and apparently they have faith in him. Delhomme held an anemic 59.4 efficiency rating over 11 starts in 2009, and turned 35 in January.

Amid rumors that he is unhappy with not being offered a contract extension by the Panthers this offseason, Carolina head coach John Fox is being mentioned as a candidate to take the same job in Cleveland, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:This is all very presumptuous, of course, as Eric Mangini has yet to be fired in Cleveland and Fox has a year remaining on his deal in Carolina, but don't be surprised if this smoke eventually turns to fire.
