The 49ers held their first practice Sunday without guard Larry Allen, although the team said the absence was excused. The San Francisco Chronicle reports he is expected to participate in today's practice. There has been a lot of talk that Allen would call it a career this offseason, but the team says his reasons for missing Sunday were not related to any retirement issues.
