Player Notes
November 21, 2008
Fred Taylor fully practiced Friday, according to the Jaguars' official website. He had been dealing with a neck ailment.

Our View:He should be able to play, but is not a recommended fantasy option against the Vikings' No. 2 ranked run defense.
November 19, 2008
Fred Taylor did not practice on Wednesday due to a neck injury, according to the Jaguars' official site.

Our View:Taylor has yet to find the end zone this season, but he has received double-digit carries each of the last two weeks, there's still some flex value in good matchups. That said, a Week 12 matchup against Minnesota doesn't fit that profile.
November 14, 2008
Fred Taylor had a full practice for the second straight day on Friday, according to the Jaguars official site.

Our View:Taylor hasn't had much fantasy value this season, as he's yet to find the end zone this year.
November 13, 2008
Fred Taylor, who missed practice on Wednesday due to a neck injury, returned to full participation on Thursday, according to the Jaguars Official Website.

Our View:Facing the tough Titans defense, Taylor makes a poor bet this weekend, especially given his recent ineffectiveness on the gridiron.
November 9, 2008
Running back Fred Taylor rushed 18 times for 80 yards in the Week 10 win over the Lions. He moved up to 11,073 rushing yards for his career, making him the 18th player in NFL history to surpass the 11,000-yard mark.

Our View:Fred also breathed some life into his flagging 2008 campaign. The Lions have a habit making opposing players look good. We remain wary of Taylor's prospects moving forward.
November 9, 2008
Running back Fred Taylor (knee) is active for thew Week 10 tilt against the Lions.

Our View:Taylor is expected to start and see his usual share of the workload against the Lions. Fred needs to start picking up his pace if he hopes to keep his gig over Maurice Jones-Drew.
November 5, 2008
Running back Fred Taylor did not practice on Wednesday because of an injured knee, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Taylor can still put up good yardage but he hasn't seen the end zone at all this year.
October 25, 2008
Fred Taylor has a good track record against the Browns, as he is averaging 154 yards over three career games, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. Browns' linebacker Andra Davis said, "He's a heck of a back. He has the total package. It's fun watching a guy like that, especially a guy you know well. You wish him success when he's playing against other teams, but I definitely don't want him to have any success this week." Taylor and Davis were notably teammates for one year at the University of Florida.

Our View:Taylor has suffered two concussions this season, but is expected to play Sunday against Cleveland, and is worth fantasy consideration, namely as a bye week filler.
October 21, 2008
Fred Taylor is only 43 rushing yards away from 11,000 for his career.

Our View:He has suffered two concussions this season, but is expected to be in action this weekend, and should reach the milestone against an unstable Browns' run defense.
October 16, 2008
Fred Taylor will remain the starter at running back for the Jaguars, despite the fact he has suffered two concussions this year, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Many people, including fantasy owner, would like to see Maurice Jones-Drew get more carries. Neither of them will get a carry this week though, as Jacksonville is on a bye.
October 16, 2008
The Florida Times-Union reports that Fred Taylor suffered another concussion in last Sunday's game. He has been fitted with a new, bulkier helmet that should prevent the injury from recurring. "I'm fine, man. If you don't suffer a slight concussion playing football, you're doing something wrong," Taylor jokingly said. He did not practice on Wednesday.

Our View:That marks his second concussion of the season and although he will likely play at full strength on Sunday, you have to think that another concussion might cause him to be more cautious.
October 12, 2008
Fred Taylor took a hard hit to the head early Sunday and left the game, but he returned to the game in the third quarter.

Our View:He looked dizzy and off balance on the sideline after the hit, but Taylor is apparently okay.
October 5, 2008
The Jaguars were unable to run the ball at all on Sunday night against the Steelers. Fred Taylor had only 10 attempts for 19 yards and was kept out of the end zone once again.

Our View:Taylor has yet to reach the end zone in 2008 and with Jones-Drew getting all the goal line carries, Taylor has to break off a long run to reach pay dirt.
September 28, 2008
Fred Taylor wants a heavy workload, according to the Florida Times-Union. He rushed for 126 yards on 26 carries in Week 3 in a big win over the Colts and said, "I've just got to continue to eat my vegetables, tomatoes, strawberries, everything that promotes quick healing, fish oil, anything, I'm looking for anything. It feels good to have the opportunity to get that many carries and get that type of banging."

Our View:He could carry the ball early and often today as the Jaguars aim to exploit the Texans' 27th ranked run defense. He is nursing a minor hand ailment, but should be penciled into fantasy lineups.
September 26, 2008
Fred Taylor (hand) practiced without restrictions on Friday and is listed as probable on the team's injury report, according to the Jaguars Official Website.

Our View:Taylor was never in danger of missing the matchup as the team was just giving him some time off to rest his aging body. He should be in your lineup if he normally would be given the matchup with the Texans.
September 21, 2008
Fred Taylor busted out of mediocrity on Sunday against the Colts. He managed 121 yards on 26 carries. He also caught two passes for nine yards.

Our View:Taylor was key in the 41-plus minutes that the Jags held onto the ball on Sunday. His backup, Maurice Jones-Drew, also had over 100 yards in the contest. Taylor had just 67 yards on the ground through his first two games, but Sunday reminded us all of the Pro-Bowl back he was a year ago.
September 19, 2008
Fred Taylor is nursing a toe ailment but is listed as probable for Week 3 at Indianapolis, according to the Jaguars' official website.

Our View:He should start Sunday, and is a favorable fantasy option as he rushed for 104 yards in his last trip to Indianapolis (Week 13 of 2007).
September 2, 2008
Fred Taylor was angry with officers for taking him out of his car at gunpoint, handcuffing him, checking his car for weapons and bringing drug-sniffing dogs out, so he yelled at officers, leading to his citation for disorderly conduct, according to the AP.

Our View:We would like to comment, but are involved in fantasy sports here, not social issues, so decide for yourself who was right and who was wrong. Taylor has since apologized and should be good to go Week 1.
September 1, 2008
Fred Taylor has apologized to team owner Wayne Weaver for his arrest on a disorderly conduct charge over the weekend, according to the AP. He said the whole incident was "very, very petty," and he added, "I’m not going to get into any details. It’s an awkward situation, but I really do, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, want to apologize to the Weavers and this organization for this type of press. It’s never really good when it’s in the negative light."

Our View:Miami Beach Police spokesman Juan Sanchez said the police report for Taylor's arrest would be available Tuesday. Jaguars' coach Jack Del Rio wasn’t concerned with the situation, even though it was the club's 10th arrest in the last two years.
August 30, 2008
The Miami Herald indicates that Fred Taylor has been arrested outside a Miami Beach nightclub on charges of disorderly conduct. Taylor was not taken to jail, according to Detective Juan Sanchez, a spokesman for the Miami Beach Police Department. He was instead released outside of Club Cristal on Fifth Street on his own recognizance with a promise to appear in court.

Our View:The exact details of his arrest are unknown, and it remains to be seen if the incident merits a suspension by the NFL.
June 7, 2008
Fred Taylor is 32-years old, but hasn't lost his quickness during the Jaguars' two-day mini-camp and believes he is still on top of his game, according to Jaguars.com. Taylor commented, "I feel good. I feel real good. I can do it all still. I still think I’m an every-downs back, but because we have a guy the caliber of Maurice Jones-Drew, there’s no need for it."

Our View:Taylor rushed for 1,202 yards in 2007, and seemingly got stronger as the season wore on. He should have at least one more solid season left in the tank, and is looking good so far in the off-season. He could slip further than he should on draft day, due to his age.
February 10, 2008
Fred Taylor was the AFC leading rusher among running backs. Taylor carried the ball three times for 15-yards. Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger led the AFC in rushing with his one carry for 18-yards. Fred's first Pro Bowl wasn't a memorable one from a statistical standpoint.
January 5, 2008
Fred Taylor was limited to 48 yards on 16 carries at Pittsburgh Saturday, though he did have a 1-yard scoring plunge. He wasn't used much in the passing game, as usual, catching one ball for two yards.
