Matt Hasselbeck (shoulder, ribs) participated in a Wednesday practice for the first time since Week 8 yesterday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:He has, of course, played in every game since Week 4, but it's still nice to see him back at Wednesday practice. As the pain continues to subside, the quality of play should continue to increase.
November 15, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck was productive in Sunday's 31-20 loss at Arizona, as he completed 26-of-52 passes for 315 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Our View:Hasselbeck topped 300 yards for the second straight game, but threw three interceptions over the span. He may have been sharper today if not dealing with a right shoulder ailment.
November 13, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck (shoulder) is probable for Sunday's contest against the Cardinals, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:He is also dealing wit a rib injury. Hasselback is indeed epically banged up, but has a favorable match-up against the Cardinals' leaky pass defense. He's a solid start.
November 11, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck was limited in Seahawks practice on Wednesday while dealing with both rib and shoulder injuries, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:The limiting was more for the rest than anything, however, and Hasselbeck will play against the Cardinals on Sunday. Whether or not he will play well is up for debate. That being said, Arizona has the NFL's 29th ranked pass defense, so it is a favorable match-up.
November 8, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck completed 39 of an eye-popping 51 pass attempts for 329 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 32-20 win over the Lions.

Our View:Hasselbeck was a hot play this week because of his matchup against Detroit's miserable defense, but he didn't really bring home the bacon for fantasy owners. The yards were profitable, but one TD and one pick were less than what owners were expecting. Still, he managed a 91.1 passer rating and led the Seahawks to a much needed win.
November 6, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck (rib) is probable for Sunday's home game against Detroit, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:Expect the veteran field general to play. Hasselbeck will have a favorable matchup, as the Lions are ranked 27th in pass defense.
November 5, 2009
According to the National Football Post, quarterback Matt Hasselbeck practiced in full on Thursday.

Our View:Hasselbeck sat out on Wednesday to rest his broken ribs, but practiced without limitation on Thursday. He led the first team offense all practice and appears to be a lock to play on Sunday against the Lions. His matchup makes him a very favorable play this week and should be employed in all lineups. Nate Burleson and the rest of the Seahawks receiving core should benefit as well.
November 4, 2009
ESPN.com reports that Matt Hasselbeck will be limited throughout this week in practices, but that he will start Sunday against the Lions. He is still recovering from an early season rib injury.

Our View:It's still safe to rely on Hasselbeck this week, although his inconsistencies this season have certainly caught our attention. The matchup looks very good, but his offensive line has to protect him against the Lions pass rush.
November 1, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck completed 22-of-39 passes for 249 yards with two touchdowns against zero interceptions in the Week 8 loss to Dallas.

Our View:For fantasy purposes, Hasselbeck is a lot like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. In Weeks 1, 5 and 8, he has thrown nine touchdowns against two interceptions. In Weeks 2 and 6, Hasselbeck failed to throw a scoring pass and he has also missed two games due to injuries.
October 29, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck fully practiced Thursday, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Our View:Hasselbeck fared fine today, and is expected to start Sunday's game at Dallas. He has been progressing well in his recovery from two broken ribs.
October 28, 2009
The Seattle Times is reporting that Seahawks' quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will not practice on Wednesday. Hasselbeck is dealing with soreness in his ribs, but is expected to be fine for the game this week.

Our View:Nothing to worry about here, as the team is just giving him another day off to get the ribs a little less tender. He will be in there against the Cowboys on Sunday, so fantasy owners should feel free to start him if he is your number one guy.
October 18, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck was just 10-of-29 for 112 yards and an interception in Seattle's 27-3 Week 6 loss to the Cardinals.

Our View:Hasselbeck didn't seem comfortable all game, and his offensive line wasn't much help. He was sacked five times and never had much time to try and hook up with any of his receivers. It's been feast or famine with him this season and Week 6 was very much the later. It's especially disappointing as he was coming off a four-TD performance last week.
October 16, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck is probable for Sunday's home game against Arizona, according to the Seattle Times. He has been dealing with a rib injury.

Our View:Hasselbeck lit up the Jaguars' defense with four touchdown passes in Week 5, and should be a safe fantasy option against a struggling Cardinals' pass defense.
October 16, 2009
After not expecting to be limited in practice this week, Matt Hasselbeck (ribs) was limited on Thursday, according to the team.

Our View:It's unlikely that he will not play on Sunday, however. After throwing for 244 yards and four touchdowns in his return to the Seahawks lineup last week, he is a must play against Arizona's soft defense this Sunday.
October 13, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck isn't expected to be limited at all in practice this week, according to the Tacmoa News Tribune. Hasselbeck said he felt fine on Monday after Sunday's gae.

Our View:Hasselbeck looked just fine on Sunday, and it just goes to show how big of a factor he is for a team. Don't expect him to perform like last week every time out, but the offense is much better when he plays.
October 12, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck reported no ill effects on Monday after playing through the later stages of a rib injury on Sunday, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:He took no jarring hits on Sunday, and the Seahawks improved to 2-0 when he starts this season. With San Francisco suddenly looking more ordinary, his return greatly bolsters Seattle's chances of winning the NFC West.
October 11, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck completed 18-of-30 passes for 241 yards in Sunday's 41-0 win over the Jaguars at Qwest Field. He fired four touchdown passes with no interceptions.

Our View:Hasselbeck looks to be recovered from his rib injury, evidenced by his strong performance. He has thrown eight touchdown passes over his last three games.
October 11, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck (ribs) is active and will start today against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Our View:Hasselbeck will be without three of his starting offensive linemen, as Walter Jones, Rob Sims and Sean Locklear are all inactive with various ailments. However, this is a juicy matchup against the Jaguars 31st ranked pass defense, which is allowing 282 yards per game.
October 9, 2009
Seahawks' beat writer Danny O'Neil is reporting on Twitter that quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

Our View:O'Neil believes it is a virtual certainty that Hasselbeck plays this weekend, so we will agree with him. He practiced this week, and he wants to play badly, so he likely will. He won't be 100 percent, so if you have another solid quarterback option it might not be bad to give him a start. He does have a solid match-up against a suspect jags' defense, however.
October 8, 2009
Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times is reporting that Seahawks' quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was limited in practice on Thursday. Hasselbeck's status for the weekend is still unknown at this point, and he will probably be a game-time decision.

Our View:Hasselbeck was hoping to return this weekend, and it is surely a good sign that he has practiced the last two days. We will keep you updated throughout the weekend on his status, so check back before Sunday's game for updates.
October 7, 2009
ESPN reports that Matt Hasselbeck is still in a good amount of pain from his rib injury.

Our View:It was initially thought Hasselbeck would be back this weekend, but he hasn't looked like a man ready to play this week. He did not practice on Tuesday, and it remains to be seen how he will fare on Wednesday. If you were planning on starting him this weekend, start looking at contingencies.
October 5, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck, who is recovering from a fractured rib, is expected to return to practice Wednesday, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:Head coach Jim Mora stated that the club will see where he is on Wednesday, and are hopeful Hasselbeck will be able to do some things gradually through the week. He will have to deal with an unstable offensive line if deemed fit to play in Week 5 against the Jaguars.
October 4, 2009
Seahawks inactives: TE Cameron Morrah, CB Josh Wilson, LB LeRoy Hill, QB Matt Hasselbeck, DL Michael X. Bennett, DL Red Bryant, OT Sean Locklear, OT Walter Jones.

Our View:Josh Wilson will be missed while the Seahawks contend with quarterback Peyton Manning and the Colts' high-powered aerial attack. Weak-side linebacker Hill will also be missed. The offensive line is also banged up, meaning the Colts should try to exploit the weakness on blitzes. Seneca Wallace will start at quarterback with Hasselbeck out.
October 4, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck is going to miss today's game at Indianapolis while still recovering from his rib injury, according to the NFL Network.

Our View:Seneca Wallace will start at quarterback in his place. Wallace moves much better to avoid the pass rush than Hasselbeck, which could come in handy with the Seahawks' offensive line banged up.
October 2, 2009
Seahawks' beat writer Danny O'Neil is reporting on Twitter that quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will travel with the team to Indianapolis this weekend. Hasselbeck is not expected to play, however.

Our View:No one really expected Hasselbeck to play this week, but it's nice to see him traveling with the team. He is hoping to be back soon, but fantasy owners need to stick with their other QB this week.
September 30, 2009
As expected, Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will not practice with the team on Wednesday, according to beat writer Danny O'Neil. Coach Jim Mora told the media that he is preparing to be without Hasselbeck for the team's Week 4 match-up with the Colts.

Our View:Hasselbeck wants to play as soon as possible, but it sounds like Mora believes he will be out again this week. Seneca Wallace will go if Hasselbeck is unable, so Hasselbeck owners should prepare to be without again this week.
September 28, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck is not expected to practice Wednesday while dealing with a rib injury, according to Danny O'Neill's (Seattle Times) twitter page.

Our View:Hasselbeck is considered day-to-day. Seneca Wallace would start at quarterback in Week 4 at Indianapolis if Hasselbeck is unable to go.
September 27, 2009
Week 3 inactives: QB Matt Hasselbeck, LT Walter Jones, Wilson, FB Justin Griffith, LB Lofa Tatupu, OLB Leroy Hill, OT Sean Locklear and DE Michael Bennett.

Our View:Seneca Wallace will take the reins of the offense from Hasselbeck, who is out with a rib injury. WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (back) and WR Deion Branch (knee) are both active, and the former will start while the latter will contribute on multiple receiver sets.
September 27, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck will not even dress for today's game against the Chicago Bears, according to Adam Schefter's Twitter page.

Our View:Jay Glazer of the Fox Network reported the same news yesterday, so look for Seneca Wallace to get the start in Seattle. This could mean a slight downgrade for T.J. Houshmandzadeh and John Carlson.
September 26, 2009
Jay Glazer of FOX Sports tweeted that Matt Hasselbeck will not play in Week 3 against Chicago.

Our View:Hasselbeck tried to push himself to play, but his fractured rib needs more time to heal. Seneca Wallace will start at quarterback with Mike Teel the primary backup.
September 25, 2009
Seahawks coach Jim Mora said on Friday that he does not expect quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to play on Sunday, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:It sounds like it will be Seneca Wallace running the show against the Bears. With him having very few weapons to work with against a stout Chicago defense, it might be a day to forget for the Seahawks offense.
September 24, 2009
According to ProFootballTalk.com, Seahawks' quarterback Matt Hasselbeck did not practice again on Thursday. Hasselbeck is still questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears.

Our View:Hasselbeck wants to play this weekend, but it is still unclear if he will be able to go. Don't be shocked if he is under center against the Bears, but we will have to wait until the weekend to see how he's feeling.
September 24, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck (broken rib) is reportedly feeling better, and could start this Sunday against the Bears even if he does not practice this week, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:The 1-1 Seahawks know this is a huge game, and likely won't make a decision on Hasselbeck's status until Sunday morning. Should he not be able to go, Seneca Wallace, one of the NFL's best back-up quarterbacks, will.
September 23, 2009
Seahawks' quarterback Matt Hasselbeck did not practice with the team on Wednesday due to his rib injury, according to beat writer Danny O'Neil. Hasselbeck has not been ruled out on Sunday's game at this point.

Our View:Nobody really believes Hasselbeck will play this week, but the team still doesn't want to rule him out. Expect Seneca Wallace to take over this week, but Hasselbeck should be back in a few weeks. Fantasy owners will want to have a reliable backup, as this likely won't be the last time he goes down with an injury this season.
September 22, 2009
SI.com is reporting that the Seahawks are planning to play their Week 3 game against the Bears without starting quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck still hopes to play, but the team is doubtful that he will be ready with his fractured rib.

Our View:Hasselbeck is talking like he wants to play, but it seems very unlikely that he will be able to do so with a cracked rib. Seneca Wallace should be taking over, and Hasselbeck's injury history has bitten fantasy owners once again.
September 21, 2009
Updating an earlier report, Matt Hasselbeck is hopeful of playing in Week 3 against Chicago after suffering a fractured rib Sunday at San Francisco, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:The veteran field general noted that the injury is painful, but stated that he has felt worse before. If Hasselbeck does not get the green light to battle the Bears, then Seneca Wallace would start at quarterback.
September 21, 2009
In yet another tweet about Matt Hasselbeck's rib injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter now says the Seahawks quarterback has a "fractured rib," and may not be able to go this Sunday against the Bears.

Our View:Obviously this is a developing story, and while there will be many updates before then, we probably won't know until at least Friday if he is actually going to play or not. Seneca Wallace will go if he is unable to.
September 21, 2009
Reaffirming an earlier report, Sports Illustrated's Peter King has also tweeted that the rib injury Matt Hasselbeck suffered on Sunday is not serious enough to keep him out of the Seahawks' Week 3 game against the Bears.

Our View:Hasselbeck is 35-of-54 for 376 yards, and three touchdowns and two interceptions, so far this season, and the Seahwaks definitely will need him to play if they want to have any hope of beating the Bears next Sunday.
September 20, 2009
The Seattle Times reports that Matt Hasselbeck tweeted "Going to be alright. Thx to staff at Stanford and Dr. McAdam," late on Sunday night. He suffered a bruised rib on a hit from Patrick Willis in Sunday's loss to the 49ers.

Our View:This doesn't mean he's a lock to play the Bears next week, but it is some more good news. Hasselbeck has looked solid this season, but injuries continue to be a big concern.
September 20, 2009
The Seattle Times reports that a CT Scan on Matt Hasselbeck revealed a bruised rib. He was removed from Sunday's game against the 49ers after taking an especially hard hit from Patrick Willis of the 49ers.

Our View:Hasselbeck was in a lot of pain when he left the field and we still consider him questionable for next week. If it is indeed only a bruise, Hasselbeck could take the field next week sporting a flak jacket below his shoulder pads.
September 20, 2009
Updating an earlier report, Matt Hasselbeck is doubtful to return to today's game at San Francisco after suffering a rib injury, according to ESPN.

Our View:Fantasy owners obviously do not want the veteran quarterback to get hurt, but should be pleased that he did not injure his back, which hindered him throughout the 2008 campaign. Seneca Wallace replaced him against the 49ers.
September 20, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck was shaken up in today's battle at San Francisco.

Our View:He took a hard (and legal) shot from linebacker Patrick Willis, and is seemingly favoring his back. He was able to leave the field under his own power, but his status is yet to be updated.
September 13, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck gunned down the Rams in Sunday's 28-0 win at Qwest Field, as he completed 25-of-36 passes for 279 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Our View:This was a great start for Hasselbeck as he attempts to put his injury-plagued 2008 campaign behind him. He will look to remain hot next weekend when Seattle battle the 49ers, who pulled off an upset win over the Cardinals today.
August 7, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck has been dealing with a sore elbow early on in camp, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

Our View:But he's now apparently "feeling pretty good." Any injury would be bad news for Hasselbeck's fantasy value, as the former fantasy stallion played in only seven games last season and threw twice as many interceptions (ten) as touchdowns (five). He had a wonderful season in 2007, so a bounce back year isn't out of the question, but he should not be your number one quarterback.
May 24, 2009
The Tacoma News Tribune is reporting that Matt Hasselbeck's back is fully healed and he is in fine form. The Seahawks' success for the upcoming season could depend on the health of their quarterback.

Our View:Hasselbeck needs to be healthy all season if the Seahawks are going to return to prominence. His back looks fine now, but we will have to wait and see how it looks after he takes a pounding for a few weeks in a row.
April 17, 2009
General manager Tim Ruskell doesn't envision the Seahawks trading down in the upcoming draft. His team holds the fourth overall pick. "Those of us at the top don't sense that we're going down," Ruskell tells the Tacoma News Tribune. "The phone's not ringing off the hook for that." Ruskell does not believe there are any franchise-changing players at the top of the draft. He adds that team officials have identified their top-four players, but they may not agree on the order of those four guys.

Our View:Ruskell doesn't sound overly enamored with the choices available at No. 4, and we can only imagine how depressed he'll sound come rounds four, five, six, and seven. Ruskell hasn't picked higher than No. 26 since replacing Bob Whitsett in 2005.
April 6, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck is expected to practice with the Seahawks Tuesday for the first time since early December, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:He missed nine games last season due to a bulging disk in his back. If healthy, Hasselbeck should be the Seahawks' starting quarterback in 2009.
January 15, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck hopes to be fully recovered from his back injury by the end of January, according to the Post-Intelligencer. The injury limited him to seven games last season.

Our View:There had been rumors that the Seahawks might release him this offseason, but it's hard to imagine who they would replace him with. We expect Hasselbeck to be back under center in Seattle next season.
January 9, 2009
Matt Hasselbeck is expected to return as the Seahawks' starting quarterback in 2009, according to the News Tribune.

Our View:He battled a back ailment through most of the 2008 campaign, but the club is not considering trading him and are content with him returning as their starter. They like Seneca Wallace as their primary backup as well.
January 8, 2009
According to the Seattle Times, the Seahawks have reached an agreement with Greg Knapp to become the team's offensive coordinator.

Our View:Knapp and new Seattle head coach Jim Mora previously worked together as assistants in San Francisco in 1997 and then for three years in Atlanta, where Mora was the head man, from 2004-06. Kanpp's hiring will not be officially announced until all paperwork is finalized.
January 5, 2009
The Seahawks are going to interview the Buccaneers' linebacker coach Casey Bradley for their defensive coordinator position, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View:This was Bradley's third year with the Bucs and his second as linebackers coach, so he's moving up the NFL ranks pretty quickly.
January 5, 2009
Coach Rod Marinelli is reportedly set to talk to the Seahawks, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View:Newly promoted coach Jim Mora Jr. could add Marinelli to his staff in Seattle as a potential defensive coordinator, if Marinelli does not join Lovie Smith and the Bears. Marinelli will be looking for a fresh start after suffering through an 0-16 campaign with the Lions.
