The Seahawks have picked up Matt Hasselbeck's $1 million roster bonus, according to NFL insider Adam Caplan.

Our View:The Seahawks have not made their pursuit of a new, young quarterback this offseason any secret, though Hasselbeck is still the best bet to open 2010 as the team's starter. While his best days are behind him, he'd still figure to have a season or two left in him as an NFL-caliber starter.

Matt Hasselbeck sounds like a man who will be back in Seattle next season, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:New offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates says Hasselbeck has been an extremely quick study in his offense, and sounded very much like he thinks Hasselbeck will be his quarterback in 2010. You never know, but you can reasonably assume he will be back in Seattle for at least one more year.

The Seahawks have signed John Schneider to serve as their next general manager, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:Schneider, who's expected to be formally announced as the general manager by Seattle on Wednesday, will leave his post as the Packers' director of football operations. The promotion is a great one for Schneider, though it's unclear exactly how much say he'll have in the Seahawks' future decisions with new head coach Pete Carrol likely to have a major influence.

Pete Carroll will sign a contract with the Seahawks some time this morning and be officially announced as the team's head coach on Tuesday, according to the L.A. Times.

Our View:Carroll's departure from USC to Seattle has seemed like a foregone conclusion over the past few days, and it looks like it will become official in the near future.

According to Chris Mortensen on Twitter, Jeremy Bates has agreed to be the Seahawks newest offensive coordinator.

Our View:Bates had a meeting set to interview with the Bears on Monday, but he decided to jump right on board with Pete Carroll and try and change the fortunes of the 2010 Seahawks. He is well known for his work with young QBs so Seattle may try to target a signal caller early in the draft.
