October 22, 2008
Damon Huard has landed on the season-ending IR due to his injured thumb, according to NFL.com. Brodie Croyle has been placed on the IR as well.

Our View:Huard is the most experienced quarterback on the Chiefs' roster, but held a poor 65.7 efficiency rating this season. Tyler Thigpen will start in Week 8 against the Jets, but the newly acquired Quinn Gray will likely push him for playing time and potentially the lead role, once he learns the Chiefs' system. He fared well during his tour of duty with the Jaguars.

The Chiefs are waiting to see how Damon Huard's injured thumb responds this week in practice before naming a starting quarterback, according to the KC Star.

Our View:The options are Huard, the ineffective Tyler Thigpen, or newly acquired Quinn Gray, who fared well during his stint with the Jaguars.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Damon Huard injured his thumb in the fourth quarter of the team's Week 7 game according to the AP.

Our View:The Chiefs quarterback position has been in complete disarray all season and Week 7 wasn't much better. Now that Croyle is out for the year and Huard hurt, the Chiefs again might turn to Tyler Thigpen.
October 19, 2008
Quarterback Damon Huard exited the game against Tennessee in the fourth quarter with a hand injury.

Our View:Huard was replacing Brodie Croyle, who is out for the season with a knee injury. No word on the severity of the injury, though Huard was spotted on the sideline with his hand heavily wrapped.

Coach Herman Edwards has chosen Damon Huard as the Chiefs' starting quarterback for Week 4 against Denver, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:He takes over for Tyler Thigpen, who gravely struggled last weekend in a loss to Atlanta. Huard is the right choice and will do a better job managing the offense, but does not merit fantasy consideration against the unbeaten Broncos.
September 23, 2008
Updating an earlier report, coach Herman Edwards is leaning toward starting Damon Huard in Week 4 against Denver, according to the AP.

Our View:Huard was 5-3 in 2006 after replacing injured starter Trent Green. If Huard gets the nod this weekend, he does not merit fantasy consideration against the unbeaten Broncos.
September 23, 2008
The Chiefs may go with Damon Huard as the starting quarterback for Week 4 as coach Herman Edwards hinted at sitting Tyler Thigpen, according to the KC Star. Edwards said, "You weigh a lot of factors into this. You don’t want to put Tyler in a bad position to where you crush him. That’s not good. You wrestle with that. We also need some calming on our team right now. We’re looking for a spark."

Our View:Brodie Croyle is not expected to return to action until October 19, when the Chiefs battle the Titans. If Huard does get the nod over Thigpen this week, he is not a recommended fantasy option against the 3-0 Broncos.
September 16, 2008
Coach Herm Edwards said Damon Huard, who suffered a mild concussion in Week 2, was feeling better and would be able to practice on Wednesday, according to the AP. Edwards isn't sure if it will be Huard or Tyler Thigpen that will start in place of the injured Brodie Croyle this weekend, but he did know that he won't be rotating the quarterbacks. "What we're thinking about right now is just letting one guy play. Whoever we decide," Edwards said.

Our View:It doesn't really matter which quarterback gets the nod in Week 3, as neither one is worth much in fantasy.
September 15, 2008
The condition of Chiefs quarterback Damon Huard is unknown after he suffered mild head trauma in Week 2 against the Raiders. Head coach Herm Edwards and the Chiefs are not aware if Huard will be available this weekend, according to NFL.com.

Our View:The Chiefs are in scramble mode at the quarterback position with starter Bray Croyle injured and now Huard injured.
September 15, 2008
Damon Huard injured his neck and not his head in Sunday's game against Oakland, according to the KC Star.

Our View:The Chiefs' poor offensive line let Brodie Croyle get hurt in Week 1, and couldn't protect Huard in Week 2. Huard's status is yet to be updated. Tyler Thigpen could serve as the Chiefs' ragdoll at quarterback in Week 3 if Huard is unable to go.
September 14, 2008
Chiefs quarterback Damon Huard was pulled from his team's game against the Raiders because of dizziness, according to KCChiefs.com. “Damon Huard had a little dizziness when he got hit, so we took him out. He really couldn’t go back in the game and he was in a position where he didn’t feel real good going back in the game," coach Herman Edwards said.

Our View:Huard was just 2-for-4 for 17 yards and an interception before suffering his injury. His status for the upcoming week is not yet known.
September 14, 2008
Updating an earlier report, quarterback Damon Huard exited the game against Oakland during the first quarter with a head injury.

Our View:We originally thought he had been pulled due to poor performance, but it was actually an injury. No further information is currently available.
September 14, 2008
Damon Huard, who completed 2-of-4 passes for 17 yards and an interception in two offensive series, was replaced by Tyler Thigpen during the first quarter in the game against Oakland.

Our View:Head coach Herman Edwards pulled the plug quickly on Huard, who was replacing injured starter Brodie Croyle. This development carries zero fantasy relevance from a field general perspective, as none of the Kansas City quarterbacks should be on your roster.
September 10, 2008
Now that Brady Croyle has been officially ruled out of Week 2, veteran Damon Huard will once again be the Chiefs starting quarterback. In his weekly press conference Herm Edwards said that the Chiefs went with Huard due to his momentum he gained from Week 1, according to Chiefs.com. However, Tyler Thigpen is also expected to see some action.

Our View:Huard wouldn't be much of a fantasy option even if he were to have the job all to himself, so the fact that he'll be sharing snaps with Thigpen makes him pretty useless.
September 8, 2008
Damon Huard is the Chiefs' acting starter at quarterback after Brodie Croyle went down with a separated shoulder Sunday against the Patriots, according to the KC Star. Tyler Thigpen is not a threat to push Huard.

Our View:There is no timetable as to when Croyle may be ready to return, and Huard is worth a look as a deep backup in fantasy leagues. He has fared well when given a chance to play, and almost led the Chiefs to a comeback win against New England. A drive in the closing seconds of the game fell just short on the goal-line, as Kansas City lost 17-10.
July 26, 2008
Chiefs quarterback Damon Huard is currently third on the depth chart behind Brodie Croyle and Tyler Thigpen, and he could be a prime candidate to be traded, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Croyle could make a useful backup for somebody, and as the article suggests, third-string quarterbacks are usually developmental guys, not 35-year-old veterans.
July 11, 2008
Despite rumors that the Kansas City Chiefs might release quarterback Damon Huard prior to the season, Pro Football Weekly believes he’s a virtual lock to make the final roster.

Our View:The team’s other two quarterbacks, Brodie Croyle and Tyler Thigpen, come with very little experience, so Kansas City will likely be forced to retain Huard as a safety net.
May 20, 2008
Damon Huard could potentially be traded or released if the Chiefs are pleased with the progress of their two young quarterbacks, Brodie Croyle and Tyler Thigpen, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:The Chiefs previously said they would be committed to Brodie Croyle this season, and he would be the likely starter over Thigpen if Huard is sent out of town. The Chiefs' aerial attack would be inconsistent with the inexperienced Croyle or Thigpen under center, and Dwayne Bowe's fantasy value would take the biggest hit.
March 25, 2008
Whether or not it’s Matt Ryan of Boston College in the first round, head coach Herman Edwards said the Kansas City Chiefs would strongly consider selecting a quarterback in the 2008 NFL draft next month, according to the Kansas City Star. Edwards said he wouldn’t be averse to going into the season with Brodie Croyle, Tyler Thigpen and a rookie at quarterback. In that case, the Chiefs would trade or release their only veteran quarterback Damon Huard.
