Damon Huard could potentially be traded or released if the Chiefs are pleased with the progress of their two young quarterbacks, Brodie Croyle and Tyler Thigpen, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:The Chiefs previously said they would be committed to Brodie Croyle this season, and he would be the likely starter over Thigpen if Huard is sent out of town. The Chiefs' aerial attack would be inconsistent with the inexperienced Croyle or Thigpen under center, and Dwayne Bowe's fantasy value would take the biggest hit.

Whether or not it’s Matt Ryan of Boston College in the first round, head coach Herman Edwards said the Kansas City Chiefs would strongly consider selecting a quarterback in the 2008 NFL draft next month, according to the Kansas City Star. Edwards said he wouldn’t be averse to going into the season with Brodie Croyle, Tyler Thigpen and a rookie at quarterback. In that case, the Chiefs would trade or release their only veteran quarterback Damon Huard.

Damon Huard will start against the Chargers in Week 13, as Brodie Croyle has been ruled out due to a bruised back, the AP reports. Huard's best game of the season (284 yards, two scores) came against the Chargers in Week 4, but we don't expect Damon to hit those numbers this time around. He's not a good fantasy start.

Damon Huard was knocked out of Sunday's game after taking a big hit. He was on the sideline with an ice pack on his neck and did not return. Brodie Croyle stepped in and fared well, completing 17-of-30 passes for 192 yards a touchdown and an inteception. Whether Huard is healthy for the Chiefs' next game may not keep Croyle from taking over as the starter. Coach Herm Edwards wanted Croyle to take hold of the job before the season, and this performance may give the coach the confidence necessary to hand him the reigns.

Damon Huard has been named the starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Bengals, the Kansas City Star reports. His status was in question due to a sore right shoulder.
