The Rams signed Stephen Davis to a one-year deal worth $850,000 on Friday, according to the AP. The deal includes a $40,000 signing bonus and a minimum base salary of $810,000. Davis, who rushed for 549 yards and 12 TDs with Carolina last year, will give the Rams some insurance in case Steven Jackson gets hurt.

Stephen Davis worked out for the Rams on Wednesday and received a contract offer, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. However, Davis left the team's complex without signing the deal. If he joined the Rams, Davis would probably back up Steven Jackson, ahead of Tony Fisher and Moe Williams.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Stephen Davis passed his physical with the Eagles. Davis wasn't offered a contract, but this may improve his chances of playing for someone this season.

Stephen Davis took a physical with and worked out for the Eagles on Monday but was not offered a contract, according to ESPN. Davis was released by the Panthers in March because of knee problems and salary cap implications.

The Eagles are expected to bring Stephen Davis in for a tryout, according to NBC10 in Philadelphia. He could be tested out as soon as today. Apparently, the Eagles don't have enough injury-prone running backs; Brian Westbrook, Ryan Moats and Correll Buckhalter all are dealing with past or present injuries to varying degrees.

The Panthers released Stephen Davis on Wednesday, according to the AP. Davis rushed for 549 yards on 180 carries and a team record 12 rushing touchdowns in 13 games last season for the Panthers, but he finished up the season on injured reserve with a knee injury.

The Charlotte Observer reports that after the Panthers lost to the Seahawks yesterday, Stephen Davis said he is planning to play next year. Davis, who finished the season on injured reserve with a knee injury, probably will have to restructure his contract if he's going to stay with the Panthers.
