Coach Dick Vermeil hinted Thursday that Trent Green might not play on Sunday, according to the Kansas City Star. Green missed practice Thursday after attending his father's funeral on Wednesday. “I know Trent Green well enough to know that he only wants what’s best for this football team regardless of starting streaks or anything else,” Vermeil said. “If he didn’t think he could play well not having practiced and being through the emotional pressure he’s been through, he would say."

The KC Star reports that Trent Green underwent an outpatient surgical procedure yesterday to fix a circulation problem in his leg. Green recently was dealing with numbness in his leg and foot that likely was the result of scar tissue from previous surgeries. He won't play in the preseason finale but is expected to be ready for the regular season opener. "He had a little problem,” coach Dick Vermeil said. “It was a minor problem, and it’s taken care of.”

Trent Green was absent for practice Tuesday because he was undergoing more examinations to determine the cause of sudden numbness in his lower leg and foot, according to the Kansas City Star. "I’m always concerned when you look on the field and your starting quarterback is not on the field and he’s being given examinations," coach Dick Vermeil said. "If he couldn’t play, it’s a big hurt. We don’t anticipate those kinds of findings when it’s all said and done."

Trent Green underwent a battery of tests to determine the source of the numbness in his lower leg and foot, according to the Kansas City Star. All the tests came back negative. "We’re not overly concerned, but we’re aware it’s there and doing everything we can to treat it properly," coach Dick Vermeil said.
