Player Notes
December 28, 2008
Terrell Owens had six receptions for 103 yards in Week 17.

Our View:Owens was able to surpass 1,000 yards for the season, but he clearly showed signs of age with a drop off of nearly 300 yards since last season.
December 20, 2008
Terrell Owens racked up 63 receiving yards on five receptions on Saturday, including a seven-yard touchdown catch with 3:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Our View:Owens now has 10 touchdown receptions this season and over 900 receiving yards.
December 14, 2008
Terrell Owens had three catches for 38 yards in the Cowboys 20-8 victory over the Giants on Sunday. He drew boos from fans during pregame introductions and after a dropped pass, according to the AP.

Our View:The receiver had pleaded for more targets throughout the past week and was part of a group that proposed a conspiracy theory to help explain his less-than-expected production. He has just one game of over 100 yards this season.
December 13, 2008
No punches were thrown, but the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Cowboys wideout Terrell Owens and tight end Jason Witten had to be separated by teammates after exchanging words in the team's locker room.

Our View:No one can disrupt a team like Owens. His pettiness in this whole thing shouldn't be surprising to anyone. Either way, all fantasy owners care about are their numbers, and both Witten and Owens figure to get the bulk of Tony Romo's throws.
December 11, 2008
Updating the Terrell Owens and Tony Romo conflict, Owens along with receivers Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton had a meeting with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett on Thursday to discuss their role in the team's offense vs. tight end Jason Witten's role, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Our View:T.O. is no stranger to controversy, but this time it seems he has company. The receivers seem to be upset due to the fact that Romo is relying more on Witten than his other options and that it's costing the team. Meanwhile, the Cowboys' circus might cost them a playoff spot, as they're currently slotted as the NFC's sixth seed with an extremely difficult remaining schedule of hosting the Giants and Ravens while finishing up against the Eagles on the road.
November 27, 2008
Terrell Owens hauled in five receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 34-9 win over Seattle.

Our View:Owens has now racked up 311 receiving yards over the last two weeks, and scored a touchdown in three of his last four outings.
November 23, 2008
Terrell Owens reeled in seven balls for 213 yards and one touchdown in the Week 12 victory over San Francisco.

Our View:The 213 yards eclipsed Owens' yardage output from the previous five weeks combined. The touchdown was his second since Week 6, but it goes without saying that Owens should be in your lineup on Turkey Day against Seattle.
November 22, 2008
What do you know, Terrell Owens is frustrated with his numbers. In an interview with the NFL Netwrork Owens said, "For me to have the numbers that I have and not really being involved, it is discouraging. It is frustrating, but what can I do?"

Our View:Owens' numbers are defintely down in 2008. He doesn't have a 100 yard receiving game this year and has only 505 yards in 10 games.
November 19, 2008
Terrell Owens took a sick day and did not practice, according to the Cowboys' official website.

Our View:Quarterback Tony Romo noted that the elite receiver is under the weather, and did not disclose the specifics of his illness. Coach Wade Phillips is expected to update his status later today.
November 12, 2008
Terrell Owens commented on DeAngelo Hall, who was signed by the Redskins last week, according to the Dallas Morning News. Owens said, "At the rate he's playing, I'm looking forward to a big day. I'm no stranger to playing against him. I've had success against him just as much as everybody else has, so if he's out there, I'm looking forward to playing him."

Our View:Dallas will play at Washington this weekend, and may get quarterback Tony Romo back following his recovery from a broken pinkie. Owens' production looks to start going back up.
November 6, 2008
Terrell Owens is displeased with the lack of catchable balls he has been seeing as of late, according to the Star-Telegram. He said, "I can be frustrated, but if I go out and talk about being frustrated, then it’s another story. For me, I just try to keep it in check and make the most of my opportunities. That’s the only thing I can do. From here on out, all I can do is just run my routes and put what I do on film. If I’m open and I don’t get the ball, then I don’t get the ball. There’s nothing really I can do. I can’t throw and catch the ball myself. I can only just do what I can control."

Our View:The Cowboys have a bye this weekend and are expected to get Tony Romo back in Week 11, which will take care of Owens' problem.
November 2, 2008
Terrell Owens had an ok day for the Cowboys, catching five passes for 36 yards and a touchdown. He also lost one fumble.

Our View:T.O.'s stock has certainly dropped since the injury to starting quarterback Tony Romo. He should be better for the stretch run when Romo comes back, which should be in plenty of time for fantasy playoffs.
November 2, 2008
Terrell Owens has a good track record against the Giants, according to the NY Post. Terrell Owens has 57 receptions for 930 yards and 12 touchdowns over 10 career games against New York.

Our View:This is encouraging news, but Owens has only made 11 receptions for 100 yards (with no touchdowns) over the last three weeks due to the aging Brad Johnson's shortcomings at quarterback.
October 19, 2008
Terrell Owens caught all of two passes for 31 yards as Dallas got blown out by the Rams, 34-14.

Our View:The last two weeks, Owens has caught six passes for 67 yards. That used to be a good half for him. This game makes for 11 straight games he has less than 90 receiving yards.
October 12, 2008
Wide receiver Terrell Owens caught only four passes for 36 yards in the Week 6 loss to the Cardinals.

Our View:Including playoffs, that's 10 straight games below 90 yards for Owens, and he has more than five catches just once in those 10 contests. Owens still seems to be a stud, but the numbers are disturbing.
October 7, 2008
After Terrell Owens scored on a 57 yard touchdown reception against the Bengals, he was seen on the Cowboys sideline crying. No, he was not crying because that catch was his only one of two in the game. Owens was playing in Week 5 with a heavy heart after a family member had passed away, according to the Star Telegram.

Our View:Even though TO has seen his catches go down, his touchdowns continue to grow. Ownens has visited the end zone in everyone of the Cowboys game but one.
October 3, 2008
Dallas wideout Terrell Owens complained about not getting the ball enough during Week 4, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "We’ll overly try to get him the ball. There’s no question about that. We should. It ought to open things up for other places on the offense," Jones said.

Our View:Owens was targeted 17 times Week 4, tying him with Roddy White for the most in the NFL. Jones' statement comes just days after Dallas coach Wade Phillips said that he wanted to get the ball in the hands of running backs Marion Barber and Felix Jones more often.
September 30, 2008
Cowboys wideout Terrell Owens says he is not upset with quarterback Tony Romo, and never had a conversation with him about getting the ball more, even though that is what Owens wants, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “All I have said is I need more opportunities to help this team win,” Owens said.

Our View:Owens also called out former NFL wide receiver and current ESPN analyst Keyshawn Johnson - who was critical of him - calling him "Sheshawn" and saying, "[As the No. 1 overall pick in the 1996 draft] he is the ultimate underachiever on that panel. I am the reason he is in the booth. Everybody is aware when I was brought to Dallas he was the one they let go to get me here.”
September 30, 2008
Terrell Owens is reportedly displeased with quarterback Tony Romo, namely regarding the routes being thrown to him, according to the Dallas Morning News. The source indicates that Owens had a "serious" conversation with Romo following Sunday's loss to Washington.

Our View:Owens was targeted 18 times against the Redskins, and has already scored four touchdowns over the first four weeks of the season. Dallas holds a solid 3-1 record, and Owens needs to cut Romo some slack before this manifests into an internal problem.
September 28, 2008
Owens scored one more touchdown on Sunday and also caught seven balls for 71 yards in the Cowboys' 26-24 loss.

Our View:He was able to rebound from a poor performance at Green Bay in Week 3 and now has at least one touchdown in three of his four games this season.
September 21, 2008
Terrell Owens was invisible most of Sunday in Green Bay. He finished the night with just two catches for 17 yards.

Our View:Owens was blanketed most of the night by Charles Woodson and the rest of the Packers' secondary. Expect a big bounceback next week at home against Washington.
September 15, 2008
Terrell Owens caught three balls for 89 yards and two touchdowns in Monday's win over the Eagles.

Our View:Owens didn't have a catch in the second half, but it didn't matter. He did enough damage early on to still treat fantasy owners.
September 15, 2008
Terrell Owens caught a 72-yard touchdown during the first quarter of Monday's game against the Eagles. The scoring reception was the 131st of Owens's career, and it broke a tie with Cris Carter (130). The Cowboys wideout now trails only Jerry Rice (197) on the all-time list.

Our View:Randy Moss (125) and Marvin Harrison (123) are also in the top-five. Rice can continue to rest easy, unless Owens manages to play another four seasons beyond this one.
September 7, 2008
Terrell Owens caught a 35-yard pass from Tony Romo at the 9:48 mark of the second quarter putting the Cowboys ahead for good. On a day that saw the Dallas offense dominate the Browns' defense, the touchdown pass from Tony Romo to T.O was the shortest of their drives; four plays for 69 yards in just under three minutes.

Our View:Owens finished Week 1 with five catches and 87 yards.
September 4, 2008
The lack of receiver depth on the Cowboys doesn't bother Terrell Owens, he sees it as a chance to shine, according to the AP. “I did a lot of shoulder presses this summer,” Owens said, smiling. “I think I will be ready to shoulder the load.”

Our View:T.O. is an elite wide receiver and should be starting as a fantasy WR1.
June 17, 2008
Dallas head coach Wade Phillips said receiver Terrell Owens informed him that he had a family matter he had to tend to yesterday, and confirmed he would be excused for the rest of the week, according to the Dallas Morning News. "Him missing some time is not a big deal," Phillips said, "especially a veteran player that knows how to play and do the things and has worked as hard as he had during the offseason."

Our View:What can we say? It's a slow news day. Owens is a veteran who is familiar with the offensive scheme, and the time away from camp does nothing to change that fact.
June 17, 2008
Terrell Owens will not attend the Cowboys' mandatory minicamp this week as he is dealing with a personal issue, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:The team did not disclose what the personal matter is, but it is not related to last week's drug-testing issue. Ken Hamlin and Terry Glenn are the only other two not in attendance, as both remain in contract disputes.
June 12, 2008
Dallas wide receiver Terrell Owens just isn't very happy that what he insists was a simple miscommunication landed him in the NFL's "reasonable cause" testing program after he missed a random test, according to ESPN. "Especially with everything with the steroids and performance-enhancing drugs, for me to be put out there in that light, I think it's just a negative connotation for me," Owens said. "It's all because of a missed call that negative perception is out there."

Our View:Though Owens has never tested dirty during his 12-year career, he’s now subject to being tested up to 24 times a year due to the miscommunication.
June 10, 2008
Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones commented on the situation regarding Terrell Owens and an increase in drug tests, according to the Dallas Morning News. Jones stated, "I think it's important to note that every player in the off-season has to be ready for six tests. I notice where he's got to be available for potentially 24 tests, but every player in the league has to be available for 6-10 tests. We have a comprehensive and thorough program. I know that our level of testing that we have on street substance is higher than air traffic controllers and in a lot of cases you're tested more often than air traffic controllers to give you an idea as to how thorough the testing is in the NFL."

Our View:Jones reiterated he was aware of Owens' discussions with the league regarding Owens' placement in the "reasonable cause" program before giving him a $12.9 million signing bonus last week.
June 9, 2008
Terrell Owens will be tested for steroids and PED's more often going forward, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.

Our View:He has been placed in the "reasonable cause" testing program for performance-enhancing drugs. Owens was placed in the program because he missed telephone calls to set up random tests. A player that misses a test can be subject to disciplinary action, but because Owens had a "plausible" explanation, league administrators decided he would not be suspended or fined. Instead, Owens can now be randomly tested for performance enhancers up to a maximum of 24 annual screenings.
June 6, 2008
Terrell Owens told the Dallas Morning News he plans to play into his forties like Jerry Rice. Rice, the NFL's all-time leading receiver and considered by many to be the best player played 21 years for three different teams -- and until he was 42. Before the Cowboys signed Owens to a four-year, $34 million deal this week, Rice's name came up and he told the Jerry Jones he would like to be around for a longtime.

Our View:Owens would like to play that long, and he's conditioned himself to do so, but he will never challenge Rice's records. That said, fantasy owners, most at least, are concerned only with "what have you done for me lately", or this year. A season where Owens will challenge for top fantasy receiver.
June 4, 2008
Terrell Owens said he plans to pay back the Eagles the remaining $769,120 of his 2005 signing bonus that an arbitrator deemed that he owes the team, according to the Dallas Morning News. Owens stated, "Yeah, I have to pay that back. I don't mind paying that. They can have it. How they want it. They want it in cash, pennies, they can get it. However they want it, really."

Our View:Owens recently inked a three-year extension with Dallas on Tuesday that pushes his current deal to about $34 million, making it easier to part with the money that he owes the Eagles.
June 3, 2008
Terrell Owens decided to comment on coach Bill Parcells regarding the way he is handling Jason Taylor, according to the Dallas Morning News. Owens thinks Parcells is out of touch with today's athletes, and remarked, "I think he plays too many head games with a lot of people. What Jason was doing was beneficial for him (regarding his stint on Dancing with the Stars). It's not football-related, it has to do with his personal life. Coach Parcells is way off base to criticize and call Jason out in the manner that he has. They're starting to realize he is kind of out of touch with a lot of today's athletes and things that are going on."

Our View:There was speculation of a deal that would bring Jason Taylor to Dallas, in a swap for Greg Ellis, which would make he and Owens team-mates.
June 2, 2008
Terrell Owens and the Dallas Cowboys agreed to a four-year contract on Monday night, the Dallas Morning News reports. The deal would keep Owens with the Cowboys through 2011. His current contract runs only through the 2008 campaign, and he was scheduled to earn a $3 million roster bonus on Tuesday.

Our View:Owens will be 38 by the time his new deal is done, but the point is to keep him happy now. This news means T.O. will likely retire as a Cowboy.
May 26, 2008
InsideBayArea.com pondered the possibility of Terrell Owens returning to the bay area as a member of the Raiders in 2009. His contract ends at the end of this season, and he would help form a potent offense with quarterback JaMarcus Russell, running back Darren McFadden, receiver Javon Walker, and tight end Zach Miller. Owens would love to succeed in Oakland where rival superstar Randy Moss failed as well.

Our View:This is purely hopeful speculation on the part of InsideBayArea.com, but you have to admit the possibility of him joining the silver and black is exciting. His "bad boy" rep would certainly fit in well in Oakland.
May 12, 2008
Terrell Owens' contract has been a hot topic in Dallas as they spent money to land linebacker Zach Thomas and cornerback Pacman Jones, and are working on extensions for Marion Barber and Ken Hamlin, according to the Dallas Morning News. Owens said there won't be a problem with his contract, which will expire at the end of the 2008 season. Owens stated, "I definitely want to end my career with the Dallas Cowboys, and go into the Hall of Fame as a Dallas Cowboy. I'm going to let God fight this battle for me. There was a situation where the contract didn't work out in Philly. With this, I'm going to let it play out and not try to be a distraction. I'll let it take care of itself. I'm a firm believer that things will work out for the best."

Our View:Owens racked up 81 receptions for 1355 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2007, and now has the motivation of a potential new deal to play for this season.
April 29, 2008
The Eagles are still angry with Terrell Owens, and the team actually feels like he owes them money, which they are suing for, according to the Dallas Morning News. The Eagles are suing over money that the team feels Owens should have paid after being suspended in 2005. The NFL players' union filed a grievance on Owens' behalf claiming that he should not have had to repay the money, but arbitrator Shyam Das ruled in the Eagles' favor in late January of this year. The Eagles' complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, said Owens owed the team $769,117.65.

Our View:Let the court settle this one.
February 10, 2008
Terrell Owens caught two touchdowns passes, including a 6-yarder from Tampa Bay's Jeff Garcia for the winning points in the NFC's 42-30 victory over the AFC on Sunday.
January 23, 2008
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on Tuesday that he will pay Terrell Owens the $3 million roster bonus he is due on June 3. "Yes, we are going to have Terrell back,’’ Jones tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Owens will be entering the final year of a three-year, $25 million deal.
January 12, 2008
Terrell Owens is expected to play Sunday. He has taken part in limited practices the past two days, and the swelling is gone from his high-ankle sprain, according to the Dallas Morning News. All signs point to T.O. starting, but we'll have to wait to see exactly at what level he's able to perform.
January 11, 2008
Terrell Owens (ankle) has left no doubt as to his availability for the Divisional clash with the Giants. "I'm going to play... at a high level. I'm not worried about nothing," the Dallas Morning News relates. Head coach Wade Phillips continues to claim that Owens will be a game-time decision.
January 10, 2008
Terrell Owens (ankle) ran routes and caught passes in his return to practice Thursday, showing only a slight limp at times, the AP reports. He seems on track to play in Sunday's playoff game with the Giants.
January 9, 2008
Terrell Owens spent Wednesday rehabilitating his high ankle sprain, and did not see the practice field at all. According to head coach Wade Phillips, if Owens says he is ready to go on Sunday, Phillips would let him play.
January 7, 2008
Officially Terrell Owens status for Sunday’s playoff game against the New York Giants is still listed as a game time decision, but some teammates are expecting him to be on the field. “We’re all counting on him playing,” said tight end Jason Witten. “He’s a tough guy. Nobody wants it more than he wants it himself to get out there and play. He’s a quick healer, and he looked good out there, I thought.” Owens participated in what Wade Phillips called a “limp-through” practice, and is trying to work on getting his timing back.
January 4, 2008
Terrell Owens (ankle) didn't practice again Thursday, the last workout for the Cowboys before their three-day weekend, the AP reports. "Everything's been real positive with what I've heard again today. I heard some good things," coach Wade Phillips said Thursday, though he didn't elaborate about the Pro Bowl receiver's status. "We'll see where he is next week." Owens was able to do some light jogging this week, but that's been the extent of it.
January 3, 2008
Terrell Owens did not practice on Wednesday, but he did shed the walking boot that protected his high left ankle sprain, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
