The Cowboys have reported veteran wide receiver Terrell Owens has come to terms on a new four-year contract agreement with the team, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:The deal runs through 2011 for the 34-year-old Owens. The Dallas Morning News cited two unnamed sources in reporting the new contract for Owens, who is entering the final year of a three-year, $25 million contract.

Dallas head coach Wade Phillips said receiver Terrell Owens informed him that he had a family matter he had to tend to yesterday, and confirmed he would be excused for the rest of the week, according to the Dallas Morning News. "Him missing some time is not a big deal," Phillips said, "especially a veteran player that knows how to play and do the things and has worked as hard as he had during the offseason."

Our View:What can we say? It's a slow news day. Owens is a veteran who is familiar with the offensive scheme, and the time away from camp does nothing to change that fact.

Terrell Owens will not attend the Cowboys' mandatory minicamp this week as he is dealing with a personal issue, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:The team did not disclose what the personal matter is, but it is not related to last week's drug-testing issue. Ken Hamlin and Terry Glenn are the only other two not in attendance, as both remain in contract disputes.

Dallas wide receiver Terrell Owens just isn't very happy that what he insists was a simple miscommunication landed him in the NFL's "reasonable cause" testing program after he missed a random test, according to ESPN. "Especially with everything with the steroids and performance-enhancing drugs, for me to be put out there in that light, I think it's just a negative connotation for me," Owens said. "It's all because of a missed call that negative perception is out there."

Our View:Though Owens has never tested dirty during his 12-year career, he’s now subject to being tested up to 24 times a year due to the miscommunication.
June 10, 2008
Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones commented on the situation regarding Terrell Owens and an increase in drug tests, according to the Dallas Morning News. Jones stated, "I think it's important to note that every player in the off-season has to be ready for six tests. I notice where he's got to be available for potentially 24 tests, but every player in the league has to be available for 6-10 tests. We have a comprehensive and thorough program. I know that our level of testing that we have on street substance is higher than air traffic controllers and in a lot of cases you're tested more often than air traffic controllers to give you an idea as to how thorough the testing is in the NFL."

Our View:Jones reiterated he was aware of Owens' discussions with the league regarding Owens' placement in the "reasonable cause" program before giving him a $12.9 million signing bonus last week.

Terrell Owens will be tested for steroids and PED's more often going forward, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.

Our View:He has been placed in the "reasonable cause" testing program for performance-enhancing drugs. Owens was placed in the program because he missed telephone calls to set up random tests. A player that misses a test can be subject to disciplinary action, but because Owens had a "plausible" explanation, league administrators decided he would not be suspended or fined. Instead, Owens can now be randomly tested for performance enhancers up to a maximum of 24 annual screenings.

Terrell Owens told the Dallas Morning News he plans to play into his forties like Jerry Rice. Rice, the NFL's all-time leading receiver and considered by many to be the best player played 21 years for three different teams -- and until he was 42. Before the Cowboys signed Owens to a four-year, $34 million deal this week, Rice's name came up and he told the Jerry Jones he would like to be around for a longtime.

Our View:Owens would like to play that long, and he's conditioned himself to do so, but he will never challenge Rice's records. That said, fantasy owners, most at least, are concerned only with "what have you done for me lately", or this year. A season where Owens will challenge for top fantasy receiver.

Terrell Owens said he plans to pay back the Eagles the remaining $769,120 of his 2005 signing bonus that an arbitrator deemed that he owes the team, according to the Dallas Morning News. Owens stated, "Yeah, I have to pay that back. I don't mind paying that. They can have it. How they want it. They want it in cash, pennies, they can get it. However they want it, really."

Our View:Owens recently inked a three-year extension with Dallas on Tuesday that pushes his current deal to about $34 million, making it easier to part with the money that he owes the Eagles.

Terrell Owens decided to comment on coach Bill Parcells regarding the way he is handling Jason Taylor, according to the Dallas Morning News. Owens thinks Parcells is out of touch with today's athletes, and remarked, "I think he plays too many head games with a lot of people. What Jason was doing was beneficial for him (regarding his stint on Dancing with the Stars). It's not football-related, it has to do with his personal life. Coach Parcells is way off base to criticize and call Jason out in the manner that he has. They're starting to realize he is kind of out of touch with a lot of today's athletes and things that are going on."

Our View:There was speculation of a deal that would bring Jason Taylor to Dallas, in a swap for Greg Ellis, which would make he and Owens team-mates.

Terrell Owens and the Dallas Cowboys agreed to a four-year contract on Monday night, the Dallas Morning News reports. The deal would keep Owens with the Cowboys through 2011. His current contract runs only through the 2008 campaign, and he was scheduled to earn a $3 million roster bonus on Tuesday.

Our View:Owens will be 38 by the time his new deal is done, but the point is to keep him happy now. This news means T.O. will likely retire as a Cowboy.

InsideBayArea.com pondered the possibility of Terrell Owens returning to the bay area as a member of the Raiders in 2009. His contract ends at the end of this season, and he would help form a potent offense with quarterback JaMarcus Russell, running back Darren McFadden, receiver Javon Walker, and tight end Zach Miller. Owens would love to succeed in Oakland where rival superstar Randy Moss failed as well.

Our View:This is purely hopeful speculation on the part of InsideBayArea.com, but you have to admit the possibility of him joining the silver and black is exciting. His "bad boy" rep would certainly fit in well in Oakland.

Terrell Owens' contract has been a hot topic in Dallas as they spent money to land linebacker Zach Thomas and cornerback Pacman Jones, and are working on extensions for Marion Barber and Ken Hamlin, according to the Dallas Morning News. Owens said there won't be a problem with his contract, which will expire at the end of the 2008 season. Owens stated, "I definitely want to end my career with the Dallas Cowboys, and go into the Hall of Fame as a Dallas Cowboy. I'm going to let God fight this battle for me. There was a situation where the contract didn't work out in Philly. With this, I'm going to let it play out and not try to be a distraction. I'll let it take care of itself. I'm a firm believer that things will work out for the best."

Our View:Owens racked up 81 receptions for 1355 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2007, and now has the motivation of a potential new deal to play for this season.

The Eagles are still angry with Terrell Owens, and the team actually feels like he owes them money, which they are suing for, according to the Dallas Morning News. The Eagles are suing over money that the team feels Owens should have paid after being suspended in 2005. The NFL players' union filed a grievance on Owens' behalf claiming that he should not have had to repay the money, but arbitrator Shyam Das ruled in the Eagles' favor in late January of this year. The Eagles' complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, said Owens owed the team $769,117.65.

Our View:Let the court settle this one.

Terrell Owens caught two touchdowns passes, including a 6-yarder from Tampa Bay's Jeff Garcia for the winning points in the NFC's 42-30 victory over the AFC on Sunday.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on Tuesday that he will pay Terrell Owens the $3 million roster bonus he is due on June 3. "Yes, we are going to have Terrell back,’’ Jones tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Owens will be entering the final year of a three-year, $25 million deal.

Terrell Owens is expected to play Sunday. He has taken part in limited practices the past two days, and the swelling is gone from his high-ankle sprain, according to the Dallas Morning News. All signs point to T.O. starting, but we'll have to wait to see exactly at what level he's able to perform.

Terrell Owens (ankle) has left no doubt as to his availability for the Divisional clash with the Giants. "I'm going to play... at a high level. I'm not worried about nothing," the Dallas Morning News relates. Head coach Wade Phillips continues to claim that Owens will be a game-time decision.

Terrell Owens (ankle) ran routes and caught passes in his return to practice Thursday, showing only a slight limp at times, the AP reports. He seems on track to play in Sunday's playoff game with the Giants.
January 9, 2008
Terrell Owens spent Wednesday rehabilitating his high ankle sprain, and did not see the practice field at all. According to head coach Wade Phillips, if Owens says he is ready to go on Sunday, Phillips would let him play.
January 7, 2008
Officially Terrell Owens status for Sunday’s playoff game against the New York Giants is still listed as a game time decision, but some teammates are expecting him to be on the field. “We’re all counting on him playing,” said tight end Jason Witten. “He’s a tough guy. Nobody wants it more than he wants it himself to get out there and play. He’s a quick healer, and he looked good out there, I thought.” Owens participated in what Wade Phillips called a “limp-through” practice, and is trying to work on getting his timing back.
January 4, 2008
Terrell Owens (ankle) didn't practice again Thursday, the last workout for the Cowboys before their three-day weekend, the AP reports. "Everything's been real positive with what I've heard again today. I heard some good things," coach Wade Phillips said Thursday, though he didn't elaborate about the Pro Bowl receiver's status. "We'll see where he is next week." Owens was able to do some light jogging this week, but that's been the extent of it.
January 3, 2008
Terrell Owens did not practice on Wednesday, but he did shed the walking boot that protected his high left ankle sprain, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
