The Cowboys have reported veteran wide receiver Terrell Owens has come to terms on a new four-year contract agreement with the team, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:The deal runs through 2011 for the 34-year-old Owens. The Dallas Morning News cited two unnamed sources in reporting the new contract for Owens, who is entering the final year of a three-year, $25 million contract.

Dallas head coach Wade Phillips said receiver Terrell Owens informed him that he had a family matter he had to tend to yesterday, and confirmed he would be excused for the rest of the week, according to the Dallas Morning News. "Him missing some time is not a big deal," Phillips said, "especially a veteran player that knows how to play and do the things and has worked as hard as he had during the offseason."

Our View:What can we say? It's a slow news day. Owens is a veteran who is familiar with the offensive scheme, and the time away from camp does nothing to change that fact.

Terrell Owens will not attend the Cowboys' mandatory minicamp this week as he is dealing with a personal issue, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:The team did not disclose what the personal matter is, but it is not related to last week's drug-testing issue. Ken Hamlin and Terry Glenn are the only other two not in attendance, as both remain in contract disputes.

Dallas wide receiver Terrell Owens just isn't very happy that what he insists was a simple miscommunication landed him in the NFL's "reasonable cause" testing program after he missed a random test, according to ESPN. "Especially with everything with the steroids and performance-enhancing drugs, for me to be put out there in that light, I think it's just a negative connotation for me," Owens said. "It's all because of a missed call that negative perception is out there."

Our View:Though Owens has never tested dirty during his 12-year career, he’s now subject to being tested up to 24 times a year due to the miscommunication.

Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones commented on the situation regarding Terrell Owens and an increase in drug tests, according to the Dallas Morning News. Jones stated, "I think it's important to note that every player in the off-season has to be ready for six tests. I notice where he's got to be available for potentially 24 tests, but every player in the league has to be available for 6-10 tests. We have a comprehensive and thorough program. I know that our level of testing that we have on street substance is higher than air traffic controllers and in a lot of cases you're tested more often than air traffic controllers to give you an idea as to how thorough the testing is in the NFL."

Our View:Jones reiterated he was aware of Owens' discussions with the league regarding Owens' placement in the "reasonable cause" program before giving him a $12.9 million signing bonus last week.
