Rodney Harrison has officially been placed on season-ending IR due to his torn quad muscle, according to the AP. The Patriots also signed defensive back Antwain Spann from their practice squad and added guard Dan Connolly and safety Mark Dillard to the practice squad.

Our View:As previously mentioned, second-year pro Brandon Meriweather is slated to replace Harrison at strong safety. There is belief that the 36-year-old vet may have played his last game in the NFL.

Updating an earlier report, Rodney Harrison will miss the remainder of the 2008 campaign due to a torn quad muscle, according to NFL.com.

Our View:This is a crushing blow to the Patriots' secondary, and the 36-year-old may have played his last game in the NFL.

Coach Bill Belichick commented that Rodney Harrison's condition does not look good after being carted off the field in Monday's win over Denver with a knee injury, according to ESPN. Safety James Sanders added, "He means a lot. He is a future Hall of Famer. He is one of the best to play the game. He has taught me a lot since I've been in New England. He means a lot to me as a football player and a friend. I don't know his status now. If he misses time, we will miss him."

Our View:Harrison is the anchor of the Patriots' secondary and would be a significant loss. He would also be missed by fantasy owners in IDP leagues, with 45 tackles (27 solo), one forced fumble, and one interception.

Safety Rodney Harrison was carted off the field after injuring his right knee during the third quarter of the Week 7 win over the Broncos.

Our View:We'll update his status when more is known. IDP owners would obviously hate to lose Harrison, although he has slowed down since the bye week.
September 25, 2008
Patriots safety Rodney Harrison returned to the practice field on Thursday, according to the Providence Journal.

Our View:Harrison missed practice on Wednesday, and will not miss any time, as the team has a bye this week.
