The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Chargers' cornerback Antonio Cromartie considered sitting out the entire 2008 season after suffering a fractured hip in Week 1. Cromartie had only 2 interceptions last season after picking off 10 in 2007.

Our View:The fractured hip seems to be the biggest reason why his production fell off so much last season. He should still be considered one of the better corners in the league, and expect him to be much better in 2009 than 2008.

San Diego general manager A.J. Smith Tuesday dismissed rumors that the team would be willing to deal cornerback Antonio Cromartie if it could sign Drayton Florence, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Smith said that Cromartie will not be traded under any circumstances.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Chargers would be willing to put cornerback Antonio Cromartie on the trade block if they are able to sign Drayton Florence. Cromartie replaced Florence as a starter in 2007 and Florence later signed with the Jaguars. The Jags cut him last month.

Our View:Two seasons ago, Cromartie was among the very best at his position. He fell far from that perch in 2008, but it was revealed after the season that he had played with a fractured hip in many games.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Chargers cornerback Antonio Cromartie played much of the season with a fractured hip.

Our View:Cromartie took a stunning fall from one of the top corners in the league to one of the worst in one season, and this at least partially explains the drop-off. He can't go anywhere but up next season, and with health he'll likely get back to his ball-hawking ways.

Antonio Cromartie (hip) will play this weekend against the Falcons after being listed as probable on the injury report, according to NFL.com.

Our View:Cromartie has only intercepted two passes this season but remains one of the most physically gifted players in the league, capable of changing any game with his defensive prowess.
