Gilbert Arenas, G Friday 7/18, 1:01 PM CT
Gilbert Arenas decided to mock Richard Jefferson for landing in Milwaukee with the Bucks, according to NBA.com. Arenas said, "HAHAHA! Oh man, now that is funny. When I heard that, I started laughing. Oh man, did I start laughing. You know why? Because every player hates Milwaukee. Nobody wants to live in Milwaukee. I’m sorry, Milwaukee, to come down hard on you, but no one in the NBA wants to play in Milwaukee."

Our View: Arenas is truly a character.
Olexsiy Pecherov, F Tuesday 7/15, 1:10 PM CT
Olexsiy Pecherov is nursing a sprained left ankle and is expected to miss Wednesday's summer league game against the Sixers, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: He could return for the final three games of the summer league though, and the ailment isn't serious. Pecherov needs to have a big off-season to earn a favorable role with the Wizards this season, which doesn't seem likely.
Gilbert Arenas, G Sunday 7/13, 8:34 PM CT
According to the Associated Press, Gilbert Arenas has officially signed his six-year, $111 million contract with the Washington Wizards on Sunday. Arenas and the Wizards agreed to the deal July 3, but both sides waited until Arenas returned from an overseas vacation to put ink to paper. "Today is a great day for the Wizards organization," team president Ernie Grunfeld said. "Gilbert is a phenomenal player and his value to the franchise goes beyond what he brings to the court."

Our View: The Wizards now appear to be in line to sign Antawn Jamison to a four-year, $50 million contract.
Etan Thomas, C Saturday 7/12, 10:05 AM CT
Etan Thomas, who underwent open-heart surgery less than a year ago, participated in a full practice on Friday, according to the Washington Post. He reported no issues following the session and is feeling good.

Our View: He won't test himself in an NBA game until October, but this is favorable news regarding his return.
Dee Brown, G Thursday 7/10, 9:29 PM CT
The Utah Jazz report they will not be matching the offer sheet signed by Dee Brown and Washington, allowing the free agent guard to leave and join the Wizards, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: Brown, who played 49 regular season and eight playoff games as a rookie with the Jazz during the 2006-07 season but played in Turkey last season, agreed to a two-year partially guaranteed deal with the Wizards on Wednesday. The 6-foot, 181-pound Brown will play with the Wizards' summer league team in Las Vegas next week. Brown, who starred at Illinois along with Jazz all-star Deron Williams, could fill Washington's need for a third point guard, one who can spell veterans Gilbert Arenas and Antonio Daniels and provide insurance in case of injuries.
JaVale McGee, C Wednesday 7/9, 8:32 PM CT
The Wizards offically inked first-round draft pick forward JaVale McGee to a contract today, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: The deal guarantees McGee approximately $2.4 million for two seasons under the NBA's rookie salary scale. The 7-foot center who left Nevada after his sophomore season was the 18th-overall pick in last month's draft.
Gilbert Arenas, G Wednesday 7/9, 4:06 PM CT
Gilbert Arenas, who has not been on a basketball court since his team was eliminated from the NBA playoffs in May, won't touch a basketball until August according to ESPN.com. "After the last two seasons, I never really had time to recover. My knee is about 95 percent -- it's got to get stronger."

Our View: Can someone, anyone, please explain how Arenas managed to sign a six-year $111 million deal this offseason? After being widely regarded as a top-5 pick in last fall's fantasy drafts, we would like to caution owners against selecting Arenas in the top 20 picks at this point. His health will be one of the most closely monitored storylines in training camp.
Gilbert Arenas, G Thursday 7/3, 11:26 PM CT
Gilbert Arenas has agreed to a six-year, $111 million contract, this according to the Washington Post. The Wiz offered between $125 to $127 million over six years, but Arenas took less in order to help the Wizards have room to add key pieces over the next few seasons. The deal still has to be finalized once the league releases salary cap and luxury tax numbers next week. Arenas told the Post, "What can I do for my family with $127 million that I can't do with $111 million?"

Our View: Arenas has made it his mission to return the team intact for another run at postseason play.
Roger Mason Jr, G Wednesday 7/2, 8:13 AM CT
The New Jersey Nets are targeting Roger Mason Jr in free agency, according to the New York Post.

Our View: This may be a precursor to moving Vince Carter. A long list of shooting guards are rumored targets of the Nets this offseason.
Gilbert Arenas, G Tuesday 7/1, 8:43 PM CT
We have reported that the Washington Wizards are offering free-agent guard Gilbert Arenas a max contract of six years for $127 million. We now are learning that other teams are joining that mix, namely the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: ESPN quotes sources from the Washington Times on the numbers offered by the Wizards, and the Times is also reporting the Warriors are offering five years for $101 million (only Washington, his former team, is allowed to offer a sixth season). The Washington Post is reporting the Sacramento Kings have contacted Arenas and are offering "whatever it takes" to get him signed. All reports indicate no decision is coming in quick order, so we'll keep you posted on the updates that come forth.
Gilbert Arenas, G Tuesday 7/1, 1:04 PM CT
Gilbert Arenas will be offered a six-year, $125 million contract by the Washington Wizards, according to Yahoo! Sports. The contract offer was approved by Wizards owner Abe Pollin.

Our View: Arenas had his 2007-2008 season cut short due to injury, but he remains a top selection in fantasy basketball and should return to his per game average of nearly 30 points when completely healthy.
