Raptors sign Ukic Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - The Toronto Raptors signed guard Roko Ukic to a
three-year contract on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old Ukic was a second-round pick in the 2005 NBA draft. He played
in Italy last season with Lottomatica Virtus Roma and averaged career highs of
11.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals in 19 Euroleague
contests.
Jorge Garbajosa has signed with Khimki BC to play in Russia next season. He will be teammates with former NBA guard Carlos Delfino.
Our View:Garbajosa played just seven games with the Raptors last season as he battled leg and ankle injuries. With such questionable health, it is unlikely he will return to the NBA.
According to Slam!, Jose Calderon scored 18 as the Spain defeated Argentina 90-88 on Tuesday in an Olympic warm-up game.
Our View:Calderon rarely lets you down. In a game featuring Manu Ginobili, Pau Gasol, Juan Carlos Navarro and Luis Scola among others, he was the star. Fantasy-wise, Calderon can be considered among the top-5 point guards in leagues that count turnovers.
Primoz Brezec has reportedly agreed to a deal to play with Rome's Virtus Roma, according to the Euroleague.net. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. Brezec said, "I am very happy and proud to play next year in Rome. It's beautiful to return to Europe after seven years in the NBA with one of the best teams on the continent, with the great, successful coach Repesa and the most beautiful city in the world."
Our View:Brezec only averaged 2.2 points per game with the Raptors last season and will have a better chance to contribute with his new club.
