Report: Maggette heading to Golden State
Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Forward Corey Maggette is leaving the Los Angeles Clippers for a lucrative deal with the Golden State Warriors, according to a published report,

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the Warriors are set to give Maggette a five-year deal worth $50 million.

The 28-year-old Maggette opted out of the final year of his contract on July 1. The longest tenured Clipper averaged 22.1 points per game last season and was due $7 million for the final year of his deal.

Also on July 1, the Clippers reportedly reached a verbal agreem... More...
Injuries
Paul DavisDavis will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL.
Shaun LivingstonLivingston's career may be in doubt, following a gruesome knee injury that included a torn MCL, ACL and PCL and dislocate kneecap. There's only a remote chance that he will play later this season.
Player Notes
Corey Maggette, F Tuesday 7/8, 9:59 PM CT
Corey Maggette will sign with the Warriors on Wednesday, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Don Nelson is still loading up on scorers. This move likely pushes the young phenom, Monta Ellis, to point guard and puts Maggette on the wing with Stephen Jackson. We know Maggette can score in bunches (22.1 ppg last season) and he will get that opportunity next season with Golden State.
Elton Brand, F Tuesday 7/8, 9:52 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that Elton Brand has accepted a five-year deal worth an estimated $82 million to play in Philadelphia on Tuesday. The deal cannot officially be announced before midnight.

Our View:This is a big blow to the Clippers who were hoping to keep Brand while signing Baron Davis to a blockbuster deal. Brand will make the 76ers instant contenders by filling their one hole in their lineup with an All-Star. Playing alongside Andre Miller and Samuel Dalembert should increase Brand's fantasy production.
Corey Maggette, F Tuesday 7/8, 1:39 PM CT
Corey Maggette is said to be a top candidate to sign with the Spurs, according to the Boston Globe. Talks between Maggette and the Spurs are serious and he was previously leaning toward signing with the team, but no deal is imminent.

Our View:The Spurs are believed to have offered Maggette a multi-year deal, starting with their $5.8 million mid-level exception. The Celtics have made an offer to Maggette as well however, one he told the Boston Globe on Thursday he is seriously considering. Orlando is believed to have dropped out of the race for him.
