James Posey, F Saturday 7/5, 12:21 PM CT
The Celtics have made an offer to free agent James Posey, but the deal is unacceptable, according to the Boston Herald. Posey is seeking a four or five-year contract worth around $5.8 million per year.

Our View: If it wasn't about money, we feel like Posey would be keen on sticking with the champs. But the almighty dollar will likely win out and see James change jerseys.
P.J. Brown, C Saturday 7/5, 7:58 AM CT
Celtics GM Danny Ainge believes forward P.J. Brown is headed to retirement. "I just don't think he'll play again," Ainge tells the Boston Globe. "That's my gut. He's 39 years old. He's got a nice family and he finished it off in a nice way."

Our View: Brown was basically retired this past season before the Celtics picked him up for the stretch run. He hasn't had any fantasy value for a few campaigns, and we wish him well if he does indeed opt to hang 'em up.
Kendrick Perkins, C Wednesday 7/2, 6:07 PM CT
Boston Celtics starting center Kendrick Perkins has undergone surgery on his left shoulder, according to CBSSports.com.

Our View: The Celtics said Perkins had arthroscopic surgery Wednesday at New England Baptist Hospital. Also undergoing surgery was the Celtics' second-round draft pick, Bill Walker, to repair damage to his right knee. No timetable has been set for Perkins' and Walker's offseason returns to the Celtics.
James Posey, F Wednesday 7/2, 12:16 PM CT
The Los Angeles Times reports that the Lakers will pursue Kobe-stopper, James Posey, in free agency. Posey expects to command the full mid-level exception.

Our View: Posey's agent, Mark Bartelstein, had this to say: "When you get a taste of a championship, you want to keep winning them. The Lakers are a great team."
Tony Allen, G Wednesday 7/2, 8:07 AM CT
According to the Boston Globe, Tony Allen was not made a qualifying offer to remain with the Boston Celtics before the July 1 deadline.

Our View: Allen's chances of returning were hurt by the Celtics' draft. They selected two players, J.R. Giddens and Bill Walker, both play his position. Allen will find a home some where. He is just 26 and has 72 career starts.
Bill Walker, SF Tuesday 7/1, 7:19 PM CT
Celtics' second-round pick Bill Walker will undergo minor knee surgery on Wednesday, and is expected to be on the shelf for 3-4 weeks, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Walker injured his right knee during a workout this month for Golden State. He also tore his ACL in his left knee while at Kansas State, and was a risky pick for the Celtics, but the club likes his upside.
James Posey, F Tuesday 7/1, 8:33 AM CT
James Posey is the Boston Celtics top priority, according to the Boston Globe. The paper reported Boston general manager Danny Ainge as saying, "Posey will be a guy we'll be talking to right away. He's a top priority for us. Once we start there, we'll move toward other free agents and go from there."

Our View: Posey is more important to the Celtics than he will be to fantasy owners. He made valuable contributions to Boston, but his seven points and four rebounds are nothing for fantasy owners to get worked up about.
