Hawks' Marvin Williams suspended New York, NY (Sports Network) - Atlanta Hawks forward Marvin Williams has been
suspended for one game without pay for committing a flagrant-2 foul, the NBA
announced on Wednesday.
Williams was ejected with 9:09 remaining in the third quarter after knocking
Boston's Rajon Rondo to the floor in Game 7 of the team's Eastern Conference
quarterfinal series.
Rondo was on his way to an easy layup when Williams horse-collared the guard
and threw him to the floor. The officials immediately called the flagrant
foul, which carries an automatic ejection.
Hawks' center Al Horford has been named to the NBA All-Rookie Team, according to the AP. Horford averaged 10.1 points, 9.7 boards, 1.5 assists, and 0.9 blocks over 81 games.
Our View:Horford also led all rookies with 25 double-doubles, and guided the Hawks to their first postseason appearance since 1999.
Marvin Williams was suspended for one game without pay because of the flagrant foul he committed on Celtics guard Rajon Rondo, according to the AP.
Our View:Williams will sit out game one next year of the regular season. After averaging 14.8 points and 5.7 rebounds this season, Williams' value won't suffer at all from missing just one game.
Josh Childress will be a restricted free agent this summer, but he'd like to stay in Atlanta. "We have to make sure that we all stick together," Childress tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "That is something that is going to come up this summer. So something that I think we all have to take a look at. If we are going to be good, we have to stay together."
Our View:Childress may be talking nice now, but we have to believe some other team will offer him a chance at a starting job and a bigger role. Josh looks like he could be a solid fantasy player if he finds the right team.
