November 18, 2008
Richard Hamilton missed practice on Tuesday according to the Detroit News. He was excused for family reasons.

Our View:Hamilton is expected to play on Wednesday, so have him in your lineup.
November 3, 2008
On the same day he signed a three-year extension to stay with Detroit, Richard Hamilton led the Pistons to a victory in Charlotte. He scored 19 points, had five assists and four rebounds while shooting 9-for-18.

Our View:Hamilton will likely see less scoring opportunities once Allen Iverson shows up with the Pistons. Rip's value will likely be negatively impacted by The Answer's ball-domination.
November 3, 2008
ESPN.com reports that the Pistons have signed Richard Hamilton to a three-year, $34 million extension.

Our View:Earlier in the day, the Pistons acquired Allen Iverson, who figures to negatively impact Hamilton's value. However, AI figures to be gone next season and Hamilton's backcourt partner figures to be Rodney Stuckey. At that point, his fantasy value would fuly be restored.
November 1, 2008
Richard Hamilton led the Pistons with 24 points in Saturday's 117-109 win over the Wizards. He also contributed seven rebounds and three assists.

Our View:Hamilton should continue to post favorable numbers as a No. 2 fantasy guard in standard-sized leagues.
October 5, 2008
Richard Hamilton came off the bench to play 21 minutes in the first Pistons preseason game of 2008, and he recorded 12 points, two rebounds and three assists.

Our View:Hamilton will look to use the club's new direction behind the bench in Michael Curry to boost his numbers after a somewhat down scoring season of 17.3 points which was his lowest mark since his rookie season in 1999.
October 1, 2008
Richard Hamilton had a bit of a down season last year, but he seems happy now that Flip Saunders is gone and Michael Curry is now in charge according to the Detroit News. "I was disappointed at the way Flip (Saunders) did things, that was the frustrating thing about it," he said. Hamilton wouldn't get into specifics, but his major point of contention with Saunders was that he didn't hold all players accountable for their actions. "It's a new season and I am glad MC is the coach. You can't look to the past. I am glad to move on and focus on the season ahead of us."

Our View:Hamilton hit a career high 62 three-pointers last year while shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc. Owners would like to see him take more and they could get their wish as Hamilton continues to get older. Hamilton also had his best assist-to-turnover ratio last season. Expect these trends to continue and his scoring average to get a little closer to 20 this season.

They call him "Rip" but the pun seems less amusing today as the NBA confirms agent Josh Nochimson, a former UConn team manager, due to charges that he has stolen and/or cheated client Richard Hamilton out of approximately $500,000, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Hamilton has made no official comment but the story intrigues as Nochimson was recently dismissed as the agent for Chicago forward Luol Deng (recently signed to a six-year, $71 million contract extension). It appears there was more at stake than we thought at the time, believing Deng was simply upset over the lack of progress with the Bulls (a reasonable assumption considering Deng signed shortly after Nochimson was fired). We now know he's accused of being a criminal.

The Pistons have fired coach Flip Saunders, according to the Detroit Free Press. President of basketball operations Joe Dumars said, "Decisions like this are difficult to make, especially with the success we have had throughout the last three regular-seasons. However, at this time, I feel it is necessary to make a change. I thank Flip for his hard work and dedication, but it is time for a new voice to lead our team."

Our View:Saunders coached the team for three seasons, leading them to a record of 176-70 in the regular season. His playoff record was 30-21. The Pistons have lost in the Eastern Conference Finals in each of his three campaigns. His replacement is yet to be named.

May 30, 2008
Shooting guard Richard Hamilton strained his right elbow in the closing moments on Wednesday, and left the arena in a sling. X-rays were negative, but he's considered questionable and his official status will be unknown until right before game time.

Our View:To say the absence of Hamilton would be a big loss is an understatement. The teams heart and soul is their consistent scorer, and is averaging 22.2 points a game in this series.
May 29, 2008
The Pistons don't know if Richard Hamilton will be healthy enough for critical Game 6 on Friday against Boston due to his strained elbow, according to the AP. Detroit trails in the series 3-2, and he will be questionable for Friday.

Our View:Hamilton is the Pistons' leading scorer in the series with a 22.2 points per contest average. The team will be hard-pressed to push a Game 7 if he is not able to go on Friday.
May 29, 2008
Richard Hamilton strained his elbow during battle with the Celtics Wednesday night in Game 5, according to the Miami Herald. X-rays were negative and Pistons' coach Flip Saunders commented, "It's sore a little bit. We're going to have to wait and see how it is Thursday and how it is in 48 hours."

Our View:Detroit trails in the series 3-2, and must win Friday night at home to stay alive. Hamilton is averaging 22.2 points over the five games against Boston, and the team will be hard-pressed to push a Game 7 if he is not able to go on Friday.
May 27, 2008
Richard Hamilton had 20 points to help lift Detroit to a 94-75 series-evening win Monday night in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals.

May 25, 2008
Richard Hamilton scored a game-high 26 points in Saturday's 94-80 loss to Boston in Game 3. He also contributed two boards, two assists, two steals, and two blocks.

Our View:He is averaging 22 points over the three games in the series, but hasn't been good enough to carry the Pistons as they trail the Celtics 2-1.
May 22, 2008
Six different players posted double-digit scoring totals in tonight's 103-97 win for the Detroit Pistons in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals, but it was shooting guard Richard Hamilton that led the way. Rip shot 7-of-16 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line to score a team-high 25 points, also adding three rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocked shots in an outstanding effort.

Our View:Now the series heads to Detroit tied at one win for each team, and Detroit has set the tone by handing Boston their first home loss of these playoffs.
May 22, 2008
Richard Hamilton has been fined by the NBA for a flagrant foul against Boston's Kevin Garnett during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals Tuesday night, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:Hamilton threw an elbow up high around Garnett's neck and chin area. It was Hamilton's fourth foul and he was immediately taken out of the game (with about 10 minutes left).
May 13, 2008
The Detroit Pistons have come together as a team and put the Orlando Magic to bed, scoring the 91-86 victory in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series to move forward to the finals, taking the series 4-1. This evening, the Pistons once again enjoyed the surge from guard Richard Hamilton . Rip shot a woeful 7-of-20 from the field, but he matched with a perfect 16-of-16 from the free-throw line to score a team-high 31 points.

Our View:As usual, his other numbers lacked, but the scoring put Detroit in the driver's seat and now they look forward to the next round.
May 10, 2008
The Detroit Pistons fought through a strong surge in the 4th quarter to emerge victorious, 90-89, over the Orlando Magic in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series. The Pistons, fighting to overcome the loss of PG Chauncey Billups, would have been lost and forgotten without the outstanding efforts of Richard Hamilton . Rip went 12-of-24 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe to score 32 points, adding six rebounds, three assists, and two steals to the stat line.

Our View:Now the Pistons move to Game 5 with a commanding 3-1 lead in the series, but getting Billups back healthy may be concern #1.
May 7, 2008
The Detroit Pistons struggled without team-leading PG Chauncey Billups (lost early in the game to a hamstring injury), suffering the 111-86 loss to the Orlando Magic as the others tried to pick up their efforts. Shooting guard Richard Hamilton led the way, shooting 10-of-20 from the floor to score a team-high 24 points on the night.

Our View:Rip also added six rebounds, three assists, and two steals to the stat line, but his efforts failed to push the Pistons into a competitive mode, bringing the playoff series to 2-1 in favor of Detroit.
May 1, 2008
Richard Hamilton scored a game-high 24 points for the Pistons in their 100-77 victory over the Sixers as the Pistons will move on to the second round with this 4-2 series victory.

Our View:Hamilton hit nine of 14 shots and dished out five helpers, though his five turnovers certainly tarnished an otherwise solid outing a bit. Hamilton averaged 19.6 points in the first round matchup and figures to continue to be at the top of the team's scoring efforts on most nights.
April 25, 2008
Richard Hamilton lead the Pistons in scoring on Friday night in a road loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Hamilton scored 23 points, pulled down six rebounds and had two assists.

Our View:Hamilton and the Pistons were never in the game. The Sixers now lead the series 2-1 and host the Piston in an all important Game 4 on Sunday.
April 23, 2008
The Detroit Pistons obviously learned the lessons from a troublesome Game-1 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers and hit the floor running in Game 2, putting the Sixers in the loss column by 17 points (88-105). Shooting guard Richard Hamilton led the way, shooting 9-for-16 from the floor to score a team-high 20 points on the evening.

Our View:Rip also added seven rebounds (topped only by Antonio McDyess) and a team-high seven assists, giving him top honors amongst a strong team effort for Detroit this evening.
April 17, 2008
Richard Hamilton hip is the focus of concern in Motown as the team approaches their first postseason game this weekend.

Our View:Rip is the Pistons; go-to scorer on a team that doesn't have a lot of scoring. His health is key to the Pistons advancing beyond a first round matchup against the red-hot Philadelphia 76ers.
April 9, 2008
Richard Hamilton (hip) missed his fifth consecutive game Wednesday night. The shooting guard is preparing to return for the postseason schedule, but could receive some playing time in the Pistons final five games.
April 7, 2008
Richard Hamilton continues to sit out for the Pistons and in his place Rodney Stuckey has benefited. This was the case on Sunday when Stuckey finished with 19 points, three steals, and four assists in 28 minutes off the bench in Detroit's victory over the Heat. Hamilton (hip) is unlikely to play until the team begins their postseason schedule.

Our View:
April 4, 2008

April 4, 2008
Richard Hamilton will once again be a game-time decision on Friday night. He was held out of scrimmages on Thursday and has been dealing with lingering left hip and groin issues, the Detroit News reports. Fantasy owners should not count on Rip to take the court.

Richard Hamilton is questionable to play on Tuesday due to his hip injury, according to the Detroit Free Press. Hamilton sat out of Monday's practice to further rest his sore hip, and the team is expected to rest their starters a bit with only nine regular season games remaining, which none are seen as big games.
March 27, 2008
Richard Hamilton missed his second straight game Wednesday because of a hip injury. Rookie Arron Afflalo started for Hamilton, but played only 12 minutes to Rodney Stuckey's 30. The Pistons, who were playing their third game in four nights, lost 89-82 to Toronto. The Pistons will play their fourth game in five nights on Thursday when they host Miami. Stuckey, at this point is a better offensive option than an unhealthy Hamilton. Stuckey scored 16 points and added six boards. Hamilton is averaging 17.7 points per game, but unless the veteran is 100 percent, the Pistons are better served playing young legs.
March 26, 2008
The early word on Richard Hamilton is that he is questionable for Wednesday night against the Raptors due to a sore left hip, the Detroit Free Press reports. Hamilton was unable to play on Monday.
March 24, 2008

February 25, 2008
Richard Hamilton had a solid all-around game on Monday night as he scored 20 points, grabbed eight boards and dished out six assists while only turning the ball over one time. Hamilton came into the game averaging just 14 points a game in 10 February games, so this 20-point effort was certainly a welcomed site to his owners. The good news is that Hamilton continues to shoot the ball well with a 48.7% mark in February.
February 12, 2008
Richard Hamilton is suffering from food poisoning and didn’t attend the team’s Tuesday shoot-around, according to the Detroit Free Press. Pistons coach Flip Saunders was unsure whether he’d be available for tonight’s game and is listed as a game-time decision. If Hamilton is inactive, look for rookie Arron Afflalo to get the start. Saunders started Afflalo early in the season when Hamilton was out for the birth of his son.
February 1, 2008
Richard Hamilton hurt his hip in the first half of Thursday's game, though he was able to return, the AP reports. This doesn't look like an issue going forward, but we'll see how he looks on the weekend.
