June 25, 2008 Since Shawn Marion has chose not to opt out of his contract, several trade rumors have swarmed the All-Star forward. The Miami Herald reports that Marion has not been offered for Carlos Boozer, Elton Brand, or Baron Davis as was reported earlier in the week. Our View:Marion may be on the trading block with Michael Beasley apparently coming to the roster. However, his $17.8 million expiring contract, as well as his production, is valuable to the Heat. |

June 23, 2008 Shawn Marion will not opt out of the final year of his $17.8 million contract, according to the Miami Herald. "I spoke to Shawn again tonight and we've decided that he's not going to opt out," Marion's agent, Dan Fegan said. "It just wasn't in Shawn's best interest. That's all I can really say about it right now." Our View:Marion will now be a free agent this summer. His name is sure to come up again in trade rumors during the season if the Heat aren't in playoff contention. |
