Player Notes
February 8, 2010
Vince Carter carried the Magic with 48 points in Monday's 123-117 home win over the Hornets, to go along with seven rebounds and two assists.

Our View:Carter set a new personal single-game high in points for 2009-10, and was averaging 19.3 points over his previous three contests. He should be penciled into fantasy lineups for Orlando's next game.
February 7, 2010
Vince Carter led the Magic in scoring on Sunday, putting up 20 points with three three-pointers.

Our View:It's been a shaky season for Carter, though he's kicked off February with three fine games. Hopefully the recent effective play will become a trend as we approach the All-Star break.
February 5, 2010
Vince Carter put up 21 points and two rebounds in Friday's 92-91 loss to the Magic.

Our View:Carter has appeared to have found his sea legs in February, and is showing signs of the player he once was. He had 17 points in his last contest, after finishing the final three January games in single digits.
February 2, 2010
Vince Carter regained his old form on Tuesday with 17 points, ten rebounds and seven assists in a 99-82 win over the Bucks.

Our View:Carter turned back the clock a bit here, much to the delight of fantasy owners who were about to give up on him. He was nearly bumped out of the starting five due to an abysmal January performance in which he averaged just 8.7 PPG, 2.7 RPG and shot just 28.4 percent. Looks like he has something left in the tank after all.
January 30, 2010
Vince Carter is expected to remain in the starting five with the Magic for tonight's game versus the Hawks, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Our View:There was a rumor circulating that Carter would be moved to a bench role, namely due to his ailing shoulder. He is not playing well right now too, so use caution when considering him for fantasy duty.
January 21, 2010
Vince Carter admitted that he is still dealing with pain in his sprained left shoulder, but GM Otis Smith stated that the Magic have not considered holding Carter out of games until the pain subsides, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Our View:This is encouraging, but Carter remains a risky fantasy play. He is averaging just 6.6 points over his last three games.
January 18, 2010
Vince Carter exited tonight's game at Los Angeles, according to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell's twitter page.

Our View:Carter was holding the shoulder that has forced him to miss some games. His status is yet to be updated.
January 15, 2010
Vince Carter (shoulder) participated in Orlando's shootaround on Friday afternoon, and is likely to be back in the lineup on Friday night after missing the club's past three games, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Our View:Carter has become quite the fantasy headache of late with his seeming total inability to stay on the court for a meaningful amount of games in a row. He's safe to start tonight, just be leery of him ending up back on the bench soon with another different malady.
January 13, 2010
For the third straight game, Vince Carter (shoulder) did not play on Wednesday.

Our View:Vinsanity will always be a fantasy question mark because of his long and checkered injury history. His latest ailment has him listed as "day-to-day."
January 13, 2010
Vince Carter isn't expected to test out his sprained shoulder until Thursday, according to NBA.com.

Our View:That would mean he'd sit against the Nuggets tonight and possibly return to action Friday against the Trailblazers. Continue to monitor his status, but keep him out of your lineup for the time being.
January 12, 2010
Vince Carter (shoulder) will not suit up against the Kings tonight, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Our View:He'll continue to be listed as day-to-day, with J.J. Redick starting in his place while he's out. Keep in mind that there have also been rumors that head coach Stan Van Gundy could opt to bring Carter off the bench once he returns, though we'd still doubt that actually happens.
January 11, 2010
Vince Carter did not practice today, and is doubtful for Tuesday's game against the Kings, according to Orlando's official twitter page.

Our View:Carter is day-to-day while recovering from a sprained left shoulder. J.J. Redick is being afforded more playing time in his absence.
January 10, 2010
Vince Carter remains day-to-day with a sprained left shoulder, and head coach Stan Van Gundy has discussed possibly bumping him out of the starting lineup and having him serve as the team's sixth man once he returns, according to AOL Fanhouse.

Our View:While this is by no means a sure thing, it is worth noting that the Magic snapped a four-game losing streak last night in Carter's absence with a convincing win over Atlanta. J.J. Redick seems like a better fit around Orlando's four other starters, though you have to believe Carter would take a benching as a slap to his ego, so we'll have to wait and see how this one plays out.
January 9, 2010
Updating an earlier report, Vince Carter has been ruled out for tonight's game against Atlanta, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Our View:Carter did not practice today due to his sprained left shoulder, and is considered day-to-day. J.J. Redick is the top candidate to replace him in the starting five.
January 9, 2010
Vince Carter is being listed as day-to-day after spraining his left shoulder against the Wizards last night, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Our View:Carter remains questionable for tonight's game against Atlanta, though we'd put our money that he sits this one out. J.J. Redick could make for a nice spot-play if Carter indeed sits.
January 8, 2010
Vince Carter went down with a sprained left shoulder in tonight's game at Washington, according to Orlando's official twitter page.

Our View:Carter's return is doubtful. Matt Barnes should see more action in his absence.
January 5, 2010
Vince Carter had a night to forget on Tuesday, going 2-of-15 from the field for six points with just three rebounds and two assists.

Our View:Carter also logged a team-worst minus-14 in the plus-minus stat in Orlando's disappointing loss to the Pacers. It's unclear whether his sore ankle was a factor in the poor performance, though you can expect him to bounce back his next time around.
January 4, 2010
Vince Carter (ankle) practiced fully on Monday afternoon, and will most likely play when the Magic take the court on Tuesday, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Our View:Nicks and bruises are just part and parcel for owning Vinsanity. He's not for the impatient.
January 3, 2010
Despite suffering what appeared to be a badly sprained ankle on Saturday night, the Orlando Sentinel reports that Vince Carter will play on Tuesday, the Magic's next game. "I'm gonna play," Carter said. "I'm gonna play. I'm not one for missing games. I'm going to go out there and do everything I need to do. But I'll be able to play. The good thing about it is I don't swell."

Our View:Carter has shot a rather poor 40.2 percent from the field this season. For his career, he is a 44.5 percent shooter. The good, and maybe surprising, news is that he's shooting 86.2 on his free throws, by far a career best.
January 2, 2010
Vince Carter suffered a sprained left ankle in tonight's battle at Chicago, according to team writer Dan Savage's twitter page.

Our View:Carter is considered day-to-day. Matt Barnes could start at small forward if Carter is forced to miss any games.
