Dirk Nowitzki had a tough game for Germany, as they got beaten by Spain in the Olympics by a score of 72-59, according to the AP. Nowitzki scored 11 points on just 5-of-15 shooting, and grabbed only five rebounds.

Our View:Team Germany managed a 15-12 lead after the first quarter, but Spain took the lead in the second and never looked back. Nowitzki faced triple-teams every so often, and clearly as he goes, so goes his squad.

Dirk Nowitzki has been chosen to carry the flag for Germany at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics on Friday, according to the Star-Telegram.

Our View:The German Olympic Sports Union handed Nowitzki the honor because they felt he embodies the Olympic idea like hardly anyone else.
